### 2/5 — Loses Track

*2024-10-06*

A basic app in desperate need of an update. It’s clearly not logging my progress. Time to switch to another app.

### 3/5 — Great when it doesn’t crash

*2024-01-26*

Great app, except that it frequently crashes on the Watch mid-workout, which causes the part of your workout up to the crash not to get recorded in iOS as part of your workout. This wrecks your health stats, not only the workout stats but also the classification of heart rate readings, heart rate recovery stats, etc. It used to be annoying, but recently it happens more often than it doesn’t.

### 4/5 — Almost perfect, but really frustrating

*2023-08-13*

Been using this app for years. Developer is an amazing designer, and I don’t know how others at the gym get by without it. Only frustration: if the Watch app crashes or closes during your workout (as it is want to do), the entire workout to that point is lost. So if the app crashes with 2 min left in your workout, only the last 2 minutes get recorded to Apple Health as a workout. This also means your other metrics like HR look wrong (e.g. that 100+ HR that now does not appear to have been during a workout). Only happens once a month or so, but it is VERY frustrating when it does.

### 4/5 — Abandoned?

*2022-10-25*

I’ve been using this app for over 9 years and don’t want to lose my workout history, but there hasn’t been an update in 2 years. Still works pretty well but wish it were more actively maintained and took advantage of latest iOS features. I’ve also been a premium subscriber for years and not sure what I am paying for. Going to look around at competitors.

### 4/5 — Very good, could be better

*2022-03-18, version 3.0.3*

Very good app, I pay for premium so get access to all the exercises on the app however there should be a function which allows for adding an exercise that doesn’t exist on there. For example glute bridge is not an exercise on there and you can’t add it anywhere.
Having said that, the app is still very good and integrates with Apple Watch and Fitness/health so you can track calories burned, heart rate etc.
Best app of its kind that I’ve found so far.

### 4/5 — Pretty Good

*2021-08-16, version 3.0.3*

Generally one of the best workout tracking apps. I just have a couple of gripes. I would like it to be easier to increment the weight of all sets of an exercise without having to do it for each one. Also, the “get workouts” button does nothing and just presents a blank pop-over.

### 4/5 — Jumping Rope??

*2020-08-16*

Why isn’t jump rope listed on the app? Considering it’s one of the absolute best forms of cardio there is, I figured it would be on the app.

I tried putting together a HIIT routine to warmup pre-workout that includes jumping rope and to my surprise it wasn’t on the app.

Is this something your team can add to the app?? Especially for paying subscribers.

Thanks

### 3/5 — Great app, but bug with premium

*2020-05-19, version 3.0.1*

Seems to be a bug in the app in the latest version. Won’t let me purchase or restore the premium version.

### 3/5 — Was fine until latest updates

*2020-05-16*

Been using it for years and has been reliable. Now with the latest updates it constantly crashes in the middle of a workout. I’ve exited, restarted phone, nothing helps. I don’t want to delete the app and my data until I can back it up. Please fix this issue.

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear that. If you contact us directly via the support details in the app, we can to troubleshoot the issue for you.

### 2/5 — Fix you app!!!

*2019-08-16, version 2.4.1*

I’ve been using this app for a year. One day the app crash I forgot to save all my data then I need to start all over again! Make an update as soon as possible to make it automatic to save all your progress so if you forgot you don’t need to be frustrated !

### 3/5 — Drains phone since last iOS upgrade

*2019-08-12*

After upgrading to the latest iOS the app is draining the battery making the app pointless since then phone simply dies half way through my workout. Also, I had a monthly subscription and only stopped it few days ago so I wonder if it’s just coincidence or the app is constantly doing something in the background that causes the drainage as every now and then when using the app a pop up comes up to login into Apple Account despite already being logged in. Most odd.

**Developer response:** Hi. Sorry to hear that. This isn't a known issue for us. If you could contact me on the support email address in the Info tab in Reps & Sets, I'd like to help troubleshoot it.

### 2/5 — Doesn’t work on Apple Watch without phone close by

*2019-05-16, version 2.3*

I have a cellular Apple Watch 4 and this app was constantly just searching for my iPhone when it was on cellular. I bought the watch so I didn’t have to have my phone so this app isn’t helpful. I could enter everything in manually after my work out maybe but that’s not worth the premium subscription fee. Disappointed, I hope they fix this so it works on Apple Watch when it’s on cellular. It would be perfect

### 3/5 — App crashes - timer bug

*2019-05-14*

Great app but it crashes every time more than 1 timer is going at the same time. Usually happens when I have timers set as part of an exercise, but switch to mix in a different exercise. The app crashes on reopen and will only function once the timer(a) time out.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. We'll investigate and come up with a fix for the next update.

### 3/5 — Few problems

*2019-03-31, version 2.2*

Biking
Every time I touch RPM it crashes!

Rowing
In the rowing exercise if you touch “Pace” or “RPE” the app just crashes every time.
All I want to do is put the time it took me to get to 100m for example. The time and discount is illogical too. Not sure why they are on separate tabs.

Otherwise very good and simple app.

### 3/5 — Great app but....

*2019-03-25*

I’ve used it for severe years now, I believe since inception. It’s smooth, to the point, and user friendly. My only issue is the transition to the Apple Watch. It’s dependent to my phone. I’d like to use the app without my phone. Unfortunately I’ve stopped the subscription until that happens. Thank you for all you have given and I’m sure you will grow.

### 2/5 — Frustrating

*2019-02-28*

I wanted to love this app so bad. But the purpose of this app is to log my workouts. However, every time I click on the “based on previous workout” tab, it never works! It’s so frustrating.
Please fix this problem

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear you're having trouble with Base On Previous Workout. I haven't heard of any issues with that feature. If you email me at graham@reps.io, I'll work out what's going on and come up with a fix.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Won’t work on watch

*2021-01-06*

I downloaded this App specifically to track push ups and squats on my new Apple Watch. I set up a small program on my phone and when I opened the app on the watch, it just spun and locked up my watch. The only way to close the program on my watch was to Delete the app. I tried it a second time and same thing. Will look for another app for my watch.

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear that. Sounds like a Watch Connectivity issue. Restarting your Apple Watch, and if necessary, your iPhone, should fix it.

### 1/5 — Subscription base model

*2020-05-26*

In the description it says the app cost $.99, but it does not tell you that it cost $.99 per month. I hope you lose for making a subscription-based model app. I’d rather pay $20 one time for professional app than being milked slowly over time like I’m being slowly bled to death.

Update: With everything going to a subscription base models and sometime even after I paid full price for it, maybe you can forgive me for being very suspicious of an app that has any kind of subscription model built into it whatsoever. Subscription apps are going to be the death of us. Not only do we not own anything anymore, but they slowly add up at a point of almost having like another car payment each month.

**Developer response:** The description actually says: "Reps & Sets Premium is available as a monthly subscription ($0.99/month)."

### 1/5 — Forced Premium account

*2020-05-25, version 3.0.1*

Have been using this app for a long time. Now I can’t create new routines without paying!

Pretty crappy to do to existing users.

### 1/5 — Abandoned

*2020-02-09*

I was an avid user of this app for years, but it looks like it has been abandoned by the developer. I’ve since switched over to Strong. I’d be happy to come back to this app since I felt it had a better UI and Apple Watch app.

**Developer response:** We haven't abandoned the app. In fact we're currently hard at work on version 2.5 which adds a fresh new look, support for Dark Mode and fixes some glitch with the app in iOS 13.

### 1/5 — Was a perfect app, now can’t download any workouts

*2019-10-24*

I haven’t used the app in over a year and thought it was 5 stars back when I last used it. I was excited to start using it again but unfortunately it may not be compatible with ios13 because I’m not able to download any workouts in the app which renders it useless. Hopefully this is fixed with ios13 update. Would love to update my rating back to 5 stars and I’m positive I would if I was able to use it again.

**Developer response:** This was a temporary glitch with the SSL certificate on our server. Sorry about that. It's fixed now.

### 1/5 — Good app in iPhone

*2019-06-04, version 2.4*

The app works very well on the phone, but it does not work with the iwatch, even though I have the subscription, you can not change anything and ask for the subscription.

### 1/5 — Keeps crashing.

*2019-05-26, version 2.4*

Try and start the cardio part of the workout and the app closes.

### 1/5 — I paid for the app now treated like someone who didn’t pay for it

*2019-01-28, version 2.2*

Terrible way to run a business. I paid for the app and now most of the exercises are locked behind a subscription wall because the app is now free.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2018-09-22*

They should pull this app until they have it working t again. I cannot adjust my elliptical workout to be based on pace. App crashes. Every time. That’s a basic, essential feature.

**Developer response:** Hi. Sorry you have encountered a bug with the elliptical workout. This is a compatibility issue with editing cardio exercise in iOS 12. We are currently working on a fix.

### 1/5 — Deleted from my watch. Annoying

*2018-04-25, version 2.1*

I have only used this app a few times, likely not enough to deeply evaluate it against the apps I do use however sadly I will never get there as the app puts an add on my watch that I can’t swipe away, even when I haven’t used it.

Not for me.

Addendum;

Further to my review after comments from the developer:

Perhaps “add” is the wrong term. Regardless of the terminology, a “message” shows on the Apple Watch suggesting to purchase the enhanced version of the app. I could not swipe to remove the “message” and only made it stop by removing the app from my watch. Even if there is a way to kill that message, it is not easily accessed. I maintain the basic gist of my original review.

Further to my note above, there was yet again a statement from the developer again stating there are no ads in the app. I stand by the paragraph above and agree there are no “ads” for other products within the app however the free version has very invasive and repetitive “messages” encouraging the user to upgrade to the paid version of the app when using the free version for a short period of time.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Perfect

*2024-12-18, version 3.0.3*

Have been using it for years and find it very helpful during my workout especially timers between sets so no time gets wasted.

### 5/5 — Great app, simple and easy

*2023-10-22, version 3.0.3*

Would love this app get a few updates been 3 years but still suits me the best, I had a bit of a review to see if there was anything better looked at about 40 apps none where as good for me.

### 5/5 — 5/6/20 and app is working great

*2020-05-06*

Quick update and working great!! Love the dark mode! On workout 1614, over 428k reps and over 39k sets logged. I love being able to see the history of just how far I’ve improved in the last 5 1/2 years.
Thanks

**Developer response:** Thanks for using Reps & Sets. Sorry about that. We have a fix ready and it should be available on the App Store very soon.

### 5/5 — Can’t see where to Subscribe

*2019-08-28, version 2.4.1*

Finally an app I *actually* want to subscribe to and I can’t see where to do it.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2019-07-26*

This is great and does almost everything I need it to do. Would love to have a “notes” field though so I can remind myself about various points of my workout.

### 5/5 — Everything you need

*2018-12-01, version 2.2*

I’ve used the app on a phone for years, and loved it. It does exactly what you need a gym app to do.

However, I’ve just started using it with my watch, and wow. My rest times and more consistent, my focus is up, and it does more than I ever bought it did.

Just download this app if you want a gym app. It’s the best one.

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2018-09-24, version 2.2*

Bought a brand new Apple Watch Series 4 to use mainly for exercising and tracking my fitness lifestyle and I stumbled upon this app after some research and I love it! As others have said, it’s user-friendly, responsiveness, cross-platform (I use an iPhone 8 + Powerbeats 3), and very efficient for both low and high-intensity workouts.

A few minor bugs (heart rate doesn’t show on my Watch and I’m unable to re-set specific weights in lbs such as “15” and only “14.5” or “16” even though I’m on Premium) but I’ve already emailed their support and I’m hopeful they’ll have a prompt fix.

Thanks for an amazing app team!

### 5/5 — Works fine - good simple app 2018

*2018-06-17, version 2.1*

Ive been training in gyms for over 10years now. This app is really good and simple to use. Its has enough detail and options without being too complicated.

Ive seen the low reviews on here however i have not experienced any of these issues.

Used the app for 12months now and happy with it. Just have the basic version and it works fine.

### 5/5 — The logging app I’ve been looking for!

*2018-05-28, version 2.1*

I’m a developer myself, and couldn’t find a logging app I was happy with.

I was giving serious thought to building my own when I stumbled across this. It’s almost exactly what I pictured in my head, plus a bunch of features and ‘nice touches’ that I hadn’t considered.

The watch app is icing on the cake. I’m more than happy to pay the small subscription on this one.

### 5/5 — Perfect for logging / planning. Even better for graphing / history.

*2018-02-02*

This has been my go to app for logging my "reps and sets" for a few years now.

About to go premium to try out on my Apple watch but the app on the phone is stellar as a stand alone product.

I am a firm believer in either one more rep or weight increase from the last time I did that exercise and this app allows me to easily track that goal and continually improve.

The history graphs are numerous and provide excellent quick reference (or a deep dive if you need it) to your history for individual exercises.

Perfect balance of being simplistic when logging during weight training and advanced when digging deeper to get a better understanding of my improvement over time.

Hoping the watch app allows me to leave my phone in the locker.
