Please allow the font to be changed with Apple’s built in accessibility feature or in the app itself. I hope you can accept my advice! ### 4/5 — Should allow folders feature to organize the followed journals *2021-04-11, version 3.21.0* I followed a lot of journals, sometimes I want to see a particular journal I follow, it’s hard to find, I have to search it or scroll down for a long time to find it in the followed list. It will be great to allow the user to add folders or subjects to organize the many followed journals. Thanks, Maria ### 2/5 — Maybe I am missing something? *2020-11-06* From the reviews this app looks great and exactly what I need. Unfortunately, my subject isn’t in the list (or I am not seeing it). I am studying my Masters in counter terrorism and cannot seem to find any journals that will help me. On initial start up, there is no option to look for journals in a crime category - If I select Social sciences, which I feel would be the nearest alternative - Nothing relating to crime or terrorism. Thanks, Maria ### 4/5 — Good tool to keep up with the literature *2020-06-02, version 3.7.0* It has all the necessary functions (filters, journal feeds etc) that help me see the recent publications in my area. One problem I found is that the journal feed does not allow me to filter out “just accepted” papers from ASAP (as soon as publishable) articles. As least I did not find such a function. The difference is that for most journals I follow, “just accepted” articles are pre-galley proof and they do not have TOC graphics, which makes them much harder to navigate through than ASAP (as soon as publishable) or already published articles. For some journals (for example, Agnewandte Chemie), the feed page is overwhelmed by “just accepted” papers without any graphics, and I find it really hard to read through all the tittles and abstracts without any graphics. **Developer response:** Dear user, Thank you for your valuable feedback. Thanks, Maria. ### 3/5 — Needs cookies *2020-05-01, version 3.7.0* Almost every time I close the app, I have to log back in to my institutional access (which is extremely laborious due to my school’s requirements, including 2-factor authentication). My institution allows me to stay logged in for a certain amount of time if I check the option, but it says it needs cookies. This makes sense. But, why can’t the app use/save cookies so we don’t have to log in so much? Thanks, Maria ### 2/5 — Reasonable start that needs improvements *2020-03-22, version 3.5.0* The goal is good—allow a user to search a choice of journals for keywords. The app works well to do what is stated. Update March 2020: The app needs significant changes to be more than just a way to gather journal references. It currently cannot share the bookmark collections in any useable manner to outside databases, for example as RIS or BibTex reference sets. Not everyone wants to be tied to either Mendeley or Zotero. Its UI also does not allow the user to select multiple references for any type of action. So we can only clear bookmarks or move files one at a time. Try that over a few hundred citations that you want to handle efficiently. The only reason I give this more than one star is that it has a search engine that crosses a broader set of journals than any other citation engine that I have seen. **Developer response:** Hi, thanks for the review and for your valuable feedback. Please add Sci hub *2020-02-08* Thanks a lot for the app! I use it almost daily to monitor new research coming out across multiple fields. Filters by tag really help with that. Integration with Zotero works really well, I can be sure I can find the bookmarked papers later. I’m wondering whether there is a bug with the app or something going on with the iOS compatibility. When I try to open app notification, it crashes. My phone is iPhone 7 plus with IOS 13.2. Please fix this bug. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — App comes back from death *2023-01-27* I eliminated the App some months ago, and it keeps coming back every time I turn off my cell phone or run out of battery like some zombie or virus. ### 1/5 — Can’t login?! *2021-09-12, version 3.27.0* On the last version it wouldn’t even stay open, it would immediately crash. On this update (3.27.0) it opens but I can’t login. It says “this account does not exist,” but my credentials are correct, I’ve had an account for years, plus still receive emails. It won’t let me send a password reset link either. It keeps saying “please check your internet connection” but my internet is working. So the app is still as useless as last update. :/ ### 1/5 — Full text *2020-08-02, version 3.11.0* I used to really like this app, but now I cannot get the full text to work, when I click on it, a white page that says ”done” opens up, but nothing ever loads, and there doesn’t seem to be any other way to get to the articles any more. Also, I couldn’t find any way to contact support or help from within the app, so I’m leaving this review hoping to get my app to work again. ### 1/5 — Organizing journals *2020-04-25, version 3.7.0* I really want to love this app, with its clean interface and extensive catalogue. But with dozens of journals to follow, without the ability to organize journals into ‘groups’ (like browzine’s shelves) the app is useless to me. This is especially important for interdisciplinary researchers who need to follow literature from different communities. I hope the team will prioritize these features. Thanks, Joe ### 1/5 — Love the app, despise the interface. *2020-01-27, version 3.3.0* What I love: The fact that I can keep up with a bunch of journals all in one place. What I hate: The interface is awful. It is slow. It freezes. The fact that to delete an entry I have to swipe AND then hit the X button, which is often when it freezes. I had switched to the desktop app because I could just hit an X and get rid of the things I didn’t care about but they’ve removed that feature from the desktop app. I tried the updated iPhone version again today and it’s as bad as it has always been. What would make the app great: Bulk delete, something that you can select edit and then mark everything you don’t care about for deletion. Smoother interface that doesn’t freeze. The ability to delete from the abstract screen would also be helpful. Bottom Line: If you like a quasi useful app that will occasionally frustrate you until you want to scream. This app is for you. When it works it’s great but it doesn’t work all that often or for very long. Update: I’ve discovered a wonderful new bug. Now the app recycles the same abstracts over and over again. While scrolling through my feed looking at article I noticed they were all looking similar. Many of the same abstracts scrolled past several times despite my swiping left on them earlier. Search returns seemingly random list of papers. Also neither app nor web site have support or feedback contact details. I was hoping this app might be able to keep me up to date as well as let me browse items relevant to my topics. However, every time I go to use the app, it sits on the loading screen for fifteen minutes until I decide my time would be spent better elsewhere. I was really excited to use this app and was severely disappointed that I could not use it. ### 1/5 — Wrong Orientation in IPad Pro 12.9 *2019-06-12* Hi Guys. Just installed this. Looks promising. But it has the wrong orientation on my iPad Pro. I am using the apple keyboard case, so want it landscape, but it insists (even in the stand) of being the wrong way round. Makes it impossible to use. Scholarly research is extremely specialized; it’s not because you have journals in Linguistics or Language that they will be relevant to me. I had to delete the app as soon as I downloaded it as I couldn’t add any journal to my profile. **Developer response:** Hi, thanks for your feedback. Highlights: book marking ability, ability to put bookmarked articles into folders, using keywords and getting notifications for articles, I can read this like my twitter feed except less stress.
