And on this occasion, I added my dead pillows to the pick up which was fantastic because there is nothing worse than just throwing the stuff into the bin and thinking now it’s going to just cause problems. This is a really great service and the app is really easy to use. And complaining because they don’t pick up stuff because they can’t recycle is ludicrous. Reality is those who produce the goods in plastic should actually pay for it to be re-cycled, they would certainly lift their game if they were forced to. Using a regular rubbish disposal company will cost you an arm and a leg, use RecyleSmart instead- they recycle everything, charge next to nothing and are super friendly. Could not be easier. So good knowing we aren’t adding to landfill ### 4/5 — The service is generally great, just very picky. *2025-08-06* I really like the service overall. But they can be very picky about what they grab. They will stick to their “bag rules” very stringently too. Even if that bag is also mostly air. They’ve simplified their plans which is nice in one way, but also annoying when you’ve got one or two random extra items which they will leave behind because it doesn’t fit for the amount paid. It’s a bit confusing, even with their AI implementation. You can’t add on or expand the plan anymore. So you better hope it fits or be prepared to walk back and find some items left out for you to take back. In the end, I’ve found it’s much easier (and often cheaper) to just pay someone on Airtasker to come by and grab it for you. I don’t get points or the nice feeling it’s been recycled, but I won’t get in trouble for the items that have been left behind and it actually gets cleared in one go. But when it works, it’s great. It’s seamless and efficient. Everything runs smoothly and the app is easy to use. Only exception is there seems to be some mis-categorised items - e.g. pot plant pots it says they can take but when they arrived they said they couldn’t. ### 5/5 — App and service are brilliant *2024-04-17* While I keep trying to reduce my plastic consumption and waste by not buying anything in plastic, it’s virtually impossible to achieve. I’m so happy to have this service and business that takes things that would go to landfill and know it’s getting recycled. The search function gives information about how to deal with difficult to recycle items in your area. I can’t imagine how difficult it was to collate all this information from every council in australia. They missed the obvious bags left out with the pick up sign on them and instead took a random bag off the shoe rack on our front porch. We have been waiting for almost 2 months for them to reply to our email requesting the return of our items. There is no phone number to ring and no responsibilitiy for the mistake they made or the property they stole. ### 1/5 — No mobile phone *2025-09-19, version 8.3.3* Can’t book a pickup as it insists on a mobile phone number. It’s a fantastic service and takes a lot of unusual items to save from landfill. Coffee capsules, empty toothpaste tubes and cosmetic container items, kitchen ware, small appliances and larger ones (with notice) to name a few. The App is great and provides all the information you need. Many local councils fund a 2 bag pick up per month. I had so many not sure items and just took a picture and it named the item and said yes or no to being collected. Odd items I scanned which I wasn’t sure would come up still had an answer like asthma puffer/inhaler, medical ointment tubes, eye gel tubes.
