When I went to redeem one of their gift certificates at a restaurant that they had listed, which I purchased that same day, they basically told me that they refused to accept it because Restaurant.com gives them no way to redeem the certificate and they had asked for months to be removed from their list. And when I called their customer support line, and they basically told me that my account wasn’t showing as active and they would have to “escalate it” and would respond via email. The new point system isn’t transparent at all. When you purchase something and apply points to it, the app doesn’t tell you how many points will be deducted. For example I got a “you pay 10” coupon and had 16000 and after the transaction that didn’t show anything anywhere in the process I was left with a remainder of 13500. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Unable to login - outdated SSL settings on their end *2026-02-10, version 5.1.1* Haven’t used this service in years, but have a gift card I wanted to spend. When I first used this app there were many more restaurant options and was able to discover good eats! They hit a rough patch with app issues and limited restaurant options. Looks like the app has since been updated and works fine. FYI -> It does seem like restaurants are caught off guard when presenting coupon but I have always been able to redeem. Also DO NOT CLICK USE NOW UNTIL WAITER IS LOOKING. It’s been fun checking out new places I had never heard of. My only complaint is I moved from Norfolk, Virginia to La Quinta, California but the email advertisements still recommend places in Norfolk & Virginia Beach. Hopefully they’ll update it one of these days. :) ### 4/5 — Gift certificate *2020-09-20* I like the site except for you don’t have very many restaurants in my area which is surprising. Cedar Rapids is the 2nd largest city in Iowa. And then I have gotten many certificates for business’s that have closed or they no longer accept the certificates that I buy. For example Hy vee, you just sent me a message thatThey are not accepting certificates anymore. I have two $25 certificates I purchased and now you’re telling me I need to substitute them because they’re no longer taking certificates. Hy-Vee is a grocery store in Iowa and other states. I never thought that they would stop taking certificates and if I knew that before hand I would have never bought them. We should have at least a few weeks to use them before they stop accepting them. That’s not fair. Especially with the coronavirus and they weren’t open for a while and then they were only open for carryout. Then there’s a Gyros place that I bought certificates from and it closed so then I had to find another place to substitute. Which you have very few restaurants in my city or surrounding areas which is very surprising. I don’t think it’s fair that they discontinue taking certificates and then we are out of money or have to find another restaurant which you have limited restaurants to choose from in the beginning. If Any restaurant chooses to not accept certificates anymore we should have a lead way and at least have a few weeks to use them. Instead of you texting us and telling us immediately we no longer can use them at Hy-Vee. That’s frustrating. This is happened to me more than once. Unless this changes I will not buy any more certificates from your website It’s not like Hy vee is going out of business. They should accept certificates at least for a few weeks so people can go use them before they decide they’re not longer accepting them any longer.
