Not an ethical way to market a product. ### 2/5 — Some misleading claims and missing features *2020-08-02, version 1.2* First off, I REALLY, REALLY want to love this app, I think it’s a great idea, some of the animations and music are exceptionally beautiful, and for the most part the execution is pretty solid.. Now comes the issues. First off, the developer page for this app on iOS claims to have ‘hundreds of videos’. If you search all videos, there are only 137 for the ‘rest now’ option. Yep, I counted. So not even really entitled to use ‘hundreds’ in the plural sense. UNLESS you factor in the ‘live’ videos which consists of a total of 10 channels that are pieced together clips of various relaxing scenes. This channels do not appear to actually be offering ‘live content’ as in streaming content, since there are credits on the videos, at least the couple I watched, so no, this is not a channel that appears to be offering a streaming video option on a webcam or something, which is fine. Another technically in the use of the word ‘live’. So in conclusion the term ‘hundreds of videos’ is factoring in these short clip compilations on ‘rest live’ channels. Another thing I have an issue with is representation. Quite a few of the videos that you can select to play offer a gorgeous thumbnail of the content, so it stands to reason that that thumbnail is actually what the video looks like right? Not so much. Don’t get me wrong, some of the videos do but I went through quite a few and it seemed to me most videos when played look completely different than the thumbnail which is highly disappointing. Either the camera angle was different, the lighting, and some stuff in the thumbnail completely missing. I specifically was interested in this app because in the demo video it showed fireflies over a lake or pond at sunset and I was just enchanted, but for the life of me I cannot find it! Frustrating to say the least and I went through almost every video, even the bedtime ones and ones for kids. Funny thing is, in my search for the Restflix app to download onto my fire stick 4K, I came across a stand alone video of what looks to be the exact one I was looking for, purchasable for a mere 99 cents with no separate app or subscription required. The detail of some of these videos seems to be lacking as well. It might not matter to most people, but when I’m trying to picture myself laying on the beach it kind of nags at me when there is no change in light, or sound really, and no wind in the palm trees. If you give most of these videos more than a glance it’s clear part of the video is part still picture and part animation. Not criticizing, just pointing it out. Small details for sure, and this is just something that matters to me personally since I am detail oriented, but don’t get me wrong; the music is great and at a glance you wouldn’t notice most of these things probably. The other problem is I downloaded this app to use on my master bedroom tv, and since it says it was compatible with fire stick I didn’t think anything of it, but there doesn’t seem to be any way to access the ‘rest live’ channels through fire stick, only the ‘rest now’ videos which are those 137 I mentioned. There is also no sleep timer in the app, not a huge deal since it’s a feature on most TVs but would still be nice. So would an option to have a catalog for just your favorite videos and a way to favorite them. Again, I really had high hopes for this app, and I still like a lot of what I see, but due to some misrepresentation and missing features it’s pretty much useless to anyone who either can’t cast to their tv or has a fire stick or wants to watch the ‘rest live’ channels. Very disappointed, but I’m hoping the developers will reach out to address some of these issues which when resolved I would be delighted to update my review with 5 stars. I don’t see myself paying for it after the free trial currently however, but don’t let my singular opinion stop you from checking it out! I’m hoping it’s just so new they got a little ahead of themselves and will be fixing these issues and updating with more content and options as well. ### 4/5 — love the app *2022-05-06, version 1.22.1* This is a fantastic App! I live in a remote area and internet is intermittent. ### 5/5 — The Best Binaural Sleep App You’ll Find *2021-05-22, version 1.16* I downloaded this because I was specifically looking for a good modern made sleep app that was kind of similar to many of the other popular ones but instead had a primary focus on binaural beats because that was the one quality that all of the other major sleep apps lack. They either only have one or two binaural tracks or none at all or they don’t understand what binaural music is and so it doesn’t even seem to have any effect. So I downloaded this app just hoping to have found something different and boy did I ever find something fantastic! There are so many different quality binaural tracks and on top of that you also get gorgeous visuals that are perfect for a person like me with insomnia so bad I sometimes can’t even close my eyes. I won’t pretend it necessarily always is able to make me go to sleep because I have very bad clinical insomnia that has never responded to any kind of treatment but this helps significantly more than anything else does and even when I still can’t sleep this app at least helps me to lay back and at least stay in bed resting for the night instead of getting up and starting on a project or something that goes until 5am so that then once I finally get to sleep there’s only an hour or two before I have to get up. I don’t think I’ve had any nights like that anymore since I downloaded this and that is where this app has been extremely helpful.
