## What is Restful?

Make a rain mix for bedtime and return to it easily. Adjust rain and thunder independently, start a short sound timer or choose continuous playback, and restore your last combination next time.

TRY BEFORE YOU UNLOCK
Download and install for free. Listen to the actual 60-second rain-and-thunder preview and adjust both channels. Previewing does not start the full trial.
Choose when to start a full 7-day trial. It lasts 7 × 24 hours from your confirmed start. After the trial, new full sound, bedtime and nap sessions require a one-time purchase. The short rain preview stays available.
There is no subscription, no automatic renewal and no automatic charge. The App shows the local App Store price. The one-time unlock covers the current core features; earlier paid-download customers keep their access.

MADE FOR RETURNING TO YOUR MIX
The App already saves mixer channel levels; the new restore entry makes it easier to use them again. Short sound timers remain available. During the full trial, continuous sound is limited to 12 hours from playback start. An already admitted session is not abruptly stopped merely because the trial expires.

SECONDARY OPTIONS
Use a nap timer for a short break. A fixed-time alarm and optional sound-level curve are also available. Recording is optional and off by default; sounds and naps do not require the microphone. A curve is a sound-level summary, not sleep stages or medical sleep analysis. Short or insufficient recordings may not create a Journal entry.
The alarm runs inside the App and background behavior depends on the device; it is not a guaranteed overnight wake-up service. Keep Restful running when using it.

PRIVACY
No advertisements. Audio is processed on the device and not uploaded. Diagnostics use Sentry. If usage measurement is connected, minimal usage and purchase-result events use a random App identifier; Settings lets you disable usage collection. Audio and Journal text are never included in those events.

Restful is a general wellness app, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. Requires iOS 15 or later.

Best sleep assistance ever

## Frequently asked questions about Restful

### What sounds are available in Restful?

Restful offers four nature tracks (rain, ocean, brook, campfire), four city ambiences (Tokyo, New York, Paris, Shanghai), and ten individual sound channels (ocean, stream, rain, thunder, wind, campfire, crickets, singing bowl, cafe, white noise) that can be mixed.

### Can I record my sleep with Restful?

Yes, Restful has an optional feature to record your night's sound levels. This feature requires microphone access and creates a relative sound curve for each minute, which is processed on the phone and never uploaded.

### How does the nap mode work in Restful?

Nap mode allows you to set a timer for 10, 20, 30, 60 minutes, or up to six hours. You can choose a sound to play during the nap and a specific wake-up tone for when the nap ends.

### What are the wake-up options in Restful?

Restful provides seventeen wake-up tones, ranging from birdsong to cicadas. It also includes a shake-to-snooze function with customizable snooze lengths and limits.

### Is Restful a subscription app?

No, Restful is a one-time purchase application. The developer states that there is no subscription required, and you pay once to own the released app.

### Does Restful have ads?

No, Restful is ad-free. The developer explicitly mentions that there are no advertisements included with the app.

### What devices does Restful support?

Restful is designed for Apple devices and is supported on iPhone, iPad, and iPod. It is rated for ages 4 and up.

### How often is Restful updated?

The latest version of Restful is 1.0.9, which was last updated on September 29, 2026. This indicates a relatively recent update for the application.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.1.0 — 2026-10-10

Start with a rain and thunder preview. Choose an explicit seven-day full trial, then a one-time unlock. Continuous sound and a clear restore-last-mix entry make it easier to return.

### 1.0.9 — 2026-09-29

This update refreshes the App Store name, subtitle and keywords in several languages so they describe what Restful does today: sleep sounds you can mix, a nap timer and a fixed-time alarm. The app works the same as version 1.0.8.

### 1.0.8 — 2026-09-26

Version 1.0.8 makes the night sound curve optional and drops the score and sleep-stage labels.

PERMISSIONS
Onboarding no longer asks for the microphone or notifications. Sounds, naps and the alarm work whether or not you allow the microphone. Restful asks for notifications when you first start a night or a nap.

OPTIONAL SOUND CURVE
The curve is now off by default, also after updating. Turn on "Optional relative sound curve" on the night screen and Restful asks for the microphone when that night starts. If you decline, the curve stays off and the night goes on. The charging reminder appears only for recorded nights. Nights without the curve are not saved to Journal.

JOURNAL, INSIGHTS AND SETTINGS
Score, Asleep and Deep sleep figures are gone. Journal shows session start, end and length, and a curve marked Quieter, Moderate and Louder: sound levels within that night, not sleep stages. Insights compares session length and start and end times. "Tracked nights" in Settings now counts nights with a record, not days since the first one. Nights saved by earlier versions stay in Journal and Insights.

ALARM
If the wake-up sound cannot be confirmed as playing, the "Time to wake up" notification about a minute after the alarm is no longer cancelled. It needs notification access; if that is off, Restful says so when a session starts. Leave Restful running: background behavior depends on the device.

ALSO
The share text, shared-image caption, User guide and terms were updated to match, and the last onboarding page no longer cuts off text.

### 1.0.7 — 2026-09-23

Version 1.0.7 fixes a bug that kept new users from starting a night, and many smaller problems.

NEW INSTALLS COULD NOT START A NIGHT
On a new install, the hint shown after "Start Sleep" ignored taps on "Confirm" and "Don't remind me again", so no night session could start. Both work now.

AUDIO LEFT ON THE PHONE
Up to 1.0.6, the piece being recorded when a session ended, and minutes that could not be processed, stayed on the phone. 1.0.7 deletes audio once processed and when a session ends, keeps it out of backups, and removes old leftovers on first launch. Copies in older backups remain. None of it was uploaded.

INTERRUPTED NIGHTS
An interruption such as a phone call filled the paused minutes with silence. A longer interruption showed as Deep and could push the rest of the night toward Awake. Missing minutes are now left out and a longer interruption shows as a gap. Older nights keep the silence. The curve's ends are no longer forced to Awake.

ALARMS AND SOUNDS
If a night ended because the phone was not charging, nothing kept Restful running until the alarm. It now plays silence until then, as naps do. With notifications allowed, a "Time to wake up" notification is also set for a minute after the alarm, removed when the alarm rings or the session ends. If you are first asked for notifications as the session starts, allowing them sets it too. The alarm no longer drifts an hour at a time near a daylight saving change. "Snooze" no longer ignores taps after the phone was unlocked. Single sounds stopped about 6 to 31 minutes late; their timer now starts with the sound, and an old timer no longer cuts the next sound short. "Nap music timer" now applies to naps.

SESSIONS AND DIALOGS
A double tap on "Start Sleep" or "Start Nap" no longer starts two sessions. "Enable microphone" and "Enable notifications" now show the iOS prompts, and a session start asks about notifications if you were never asked. A charger plugged in during the charging reminder could leave a black screen; now only the reminder closes. The charging reminder, the interrupted-session notice and error messages grow or scroll so their buttons fit larger text.

JOURNAL, DATES AND TIME ZONES
Each night now sits on the day you woke up, in its own time zone, so some existing nights may move by a day. Before, zones behind UTC showed nights a day early. The calendar shows every day of the month, a tap opens that night, and Journal and Insights refresh after a night is saved. The night curve's time axis is no longer an hour off across clock changes. A time zone missing from Restful's data could stop nights from saving and Journal and Insights from opening; fixed.

INSIGHTS
Fixed: "Sleep rhythm" times off by your UTC offset or blank; "Start time" and "End time" charts an hour off, missing nights or wrong around midnight; "Average by weekday" bars a day or two early (nights now count on the wake-up day); crowded or ".0 h" axis labels; daily charts collapsing when a day had no journal; overlapping iPad bars. iPhone bars are slightly narrower.

CLEARER LABELS
"Sleep onset", "Wake-up time" and "Sleep quality" are now "Started", "Ended" and "Score" ("Start time" and "End time" in Insights). The App Store name is now "Restful: Sleep Sound Mixer", and other texts now say what the app does.

ALSO
"About", the terms and the "User guide" now give a contact address that can receive mail, and the in-app terms of service and privacy policy were updated to match the app. The sound analysis library was rebuilt from source, fixing a memory leak of about 6 MB per 8-hour night.

Restful charts the sound of your night. It does not detect sleep: Deep, Light and Awake are the quietest, middle and loudest stretches of each night, compared only with that night.

### 1.0.6 — 2026-09-10

A clearer name, and a listing that finally says what this app does.

Restful is now "Restful: Sleep Tracker & Sound" on the App Store. Same app, same one-time price, still no subscription and no ads. It was simply impossible to find under the old name.

Also in this version:
- A rewritten App Store description. It spells out what Restful does, what it needs from you (the phone charging, near the bed), and what it never does with your microphone: audio is scored a minute at a time and deleted as it goes, so nothing is stored or uploaded.
- The description now also says plainly what Restful does not do, because a few of those things were previously implied. There is no smart alarm that hunts for a light-sleep moment, naps are timed and woken but not scored, and snoring is not detected.
- Maintenance and stability work across sleep tracking, nap mode, the sound library and the alarm.

Thank you for using Restful. If it has helped your nights, a rating on the App Store makes a real difference to a small independent app.
