### 4/5 — Good start could be better

*2026-07-31*

I no am really enjoying the app. It would be better if it’s memory was better

**Developer response:** Happy to share we just improved memory of the app A LOT. This should not be an issue now.

Thanks for the review!

### 2/5 — App Top nur alle Daten wurden Gelöscht

*2026-07-19*

### 4/5 — First week review

*2026-07-16*

Initially took a little to understand how to utilise the platform, however within 2 days, understood what to do. I have some frustrations getting the best from linking platforms & then when it doesn’t work, getting around the problem. I want to use Garmin fully, however I also like using MyWhoosh as well, however these aren’t compatible currently & you do not upload directly from MyWhoosh, also 3rd party Apps down fully allow information to be shared fully which means things aren’t working so well.

### 5/5 — Gostando

*2026-07-05*

Muito cedo pra avaliar, mas o pouco que eu vi já gostei o chat ajuda demais

### 5/5 — Great

Great

### 5/5 — With this app I nail the perfect Coach

*2026-07-02*

Love it 🙌

### 5/5 — Rest or Train?

*2026-07-01*

Pretty intuitive for an AI! I’m about to turn 69. Life long road racing and ultra distance Grand Fondo rider. In training for 3 consecutive mountain 100’s. It’s picking up the weakest links in my fitness and targeting them in every training! I both see and feel the odometer of life rolling back! Great investment 👍🏾🦶🏽🦵🏾🫁❤️‍🔥👁️🚴🏾🫡🏔️🧠☀️

**Developer response:** Thank you!

### 3/5 — Not consistent and not ready

*2026-07-01*

I’ve been using for a number of weeks so far. I don’t find this to be any different than using Claude directly (I already have that subscription separately and have used it for training before trying this app). I found the ai interaction frustrating because it was inconsistent in its analysis of what my current ftp and max heart rate should be. It had me at a really low ftp using zone 2 rides as its data. Had a thing about not wanting me to do an actual ftp test that I disagreed with. Once I tore into a strong ride after building some base rides it changed its tune and adjusted ftp and max hr to my typical higher range. Then changed its analysis back to lower ftp after follow up rides. Spending too much time trying to get this part clear.

### 4/5 — Bug

*2026-07-01*

I had liked the app strava and also enabled the permission to update description on runs, but even after uninstalling the app it is updating the description in Strava. This is a major bug kindly fix this.

**Developer response:** Hi,

Sorry for the hassle. That's the Strava description sync - it keeps running server-side, so uninstalling the app doesn't stop it on its own.

You can turn it off in the app under Settings → Data Sync → Strava.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

### 5/5 — Love it !!!

It’s extremely helpful highly recommend it ! You guys need an apparel line!! it helps you create workouts it’s really genius!

### 5/5 — works as real coach

*2026-06-30*

Conversation with Restortrain actually replaces the human coach. We feels that we are interacting with real human coach

### 5/5 — Gains

*2026-06-20*

This app
Has helped me navigate the balance of work being a dad of two and getting 16 hours a week done. I’ve put big numbers onto my sprint and anaerobic engine thanks to this app

### 5/5 — Best App for Cyclists

*2026-06-12*

As a RestOrTrain PRO user, I can highly recommend this app. As a cyclist, I had been looking for an app like this for a long time. What makes RestOrTrain special is how well it combines AI-driven insights with structured training plans. Instead of just giving generic recommendations, the app adapts to your training load and recovery status, helping you make smarter decisions every day. The recovery analysis is easy to understand, accurate, and genuinely useful for balancing training and rest. Whether you’re training for performance or simply trying to stay consistent, the app provides valuable guidance. Another huge plus is the support team. I asked about Wahoo integration, and after a short time the feature was actually added. Seeing user feedback taken seriously and turned into real improvements is something you don’t find very often. The app is intuitive, reliable, and constantly improving. If you’re a cyclist, runner, or endurance athlete looking for a smarter way to train and recover, I can absolutely recommend RestOrTrain. Five stars without hesitation! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

**Developer response:** Thank you! This means the world to us!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Strava AI equivalent

*2026-08-15*

Been using it 6 months now. I really wanted to like it. It makes a decent training plan. With a ton of prompts it can make a good training plan. Problem is those prompts require a coaches level of training knowledge so if you have that, this app is pointless.

Also, it's ride reviews are hot garbage. It just looks at my average power and says what kind of ride I had. A threshold workout with recoveries get labels as tempo. Vo2max with recoveries get labeled as endurance. I tell it to ignore average power then it looks at normalized power or average heart rate. It can't seem to look at the actual work done and calculate fatigue properly.

Strava fitness/form and AI is has better accuracy and is free if you already have the subscription. I don't understand how anyone can like this app.

**Developer response:** Hi. Thanks for an honest feedback. We're doing everything we can so that the athletes don't have to prompt RestOrTrain - our ultimate goal is for state of the art coaching be done for you, and we believe we're getting closer to that every day.

For ride mis-labels - very surprised to hear that. This is something we have worked a lot on. If you'd like to share more details at antoni@restortrain.com I'd be more than happy to go over the details and try to find where the problem lies - we're confident it's not a problem for most of our athletes.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2026-08-06*

Worst app for training. No idea of what is doing. Same as all AI

### 1/5 — Free version is very short

*2026-08-02*

I ran out of free messages in 5 minutes, it told me to upgrade to pro or wait 30 days for my messages to reset. I didn’t even get my training plan scheduled. Deleted the app right away

**Developer response:** Hi, sorry about this. This is definitely not the experience we aimed at. We'd love for everyone to have a fair chance at verifying if RestOrTrain is a good fit for them and we'll do our best to improve the quotas to ensure this doesn't happen anymore.

### 1/5 — Unable to sign in

*2026-07-30*

When I’m asked to authenticate through secure link via email. The link takes me to the apps website. I am unable to access my account and can no longer opt out of sending my health data to rest or train.

### 1/5 — App deleted an entire plan

*2026-07-23*

I paid for the premium version, come back to find out the my account had been wiped clean with no memory of previous chats. I had the plans for 2 months. Awful app, and the A.I was bunk. Just hire a coach, this is basically free chatgpt with bugs.

### 1/5 — Neat idea, badly executed

*2026-06-20*

I really like this idea, and overall it’s a reasonable use case for an AI coaching system. Unfortunately the brain behind the AI just isn’t there yet, it’s often so contradictory, inconsistent, flat out ignores instructions, or recklessly or dangerously makes recommendations that are genuinely counterproductive or even unsafe. If I have to spend as much time babysitting it as I would coming up with my own plan, it’s not worth it, and I will be canceling my subscription.

**Developer response:** Hi, and I'm sorry - this isn't the experience we want you to have.

Advice that's contradictory or inconsistent, and especially anything that comes across as unsafe, is exactly the kind of thing we take seriously and want to get right.

I would love to understand where it broke down for you. Could you email me directly at michal@restortrain.com with some details or examples of where it went wrong? I'll look into it personally.

Thanks for trying the app

### 1/5 — Only uploads a month of data

*2026-04-25*

I've done everything it said I needed to do to upload more a month of data. I made an intervals.ocu account, linked Strava and Zwift all over the place, but it still can't upload rides more than a month back. So if I want to keep using this, I have to keep paying $13/month for the next few months until it has decent data and can finally start advising me?

I'm sticking to trainnerroad. It can basically do the same thing as this useless AI but also has workouts and save power history. What a waste of time and money this was

**Developer response:** Sorry for the frustrating experience - this one's on us for not making it clearer. We can only provide 30 day historical sync from Strava because we are limited by their API, but there are other ways to get your full history in that we should have surfaced better:

1. Garmin historical sync - goes back up to 2 years (you need to trigger it in settings)
2. Intervals.icu historical sync goes back up to 2 years (you need to trigger it in settings)
3. Manual Strava export - download your data from Strava and upload it directly to the app

Any of these will give the AI the context it needs. If you want to give it another shot, I'm happy to help at michal@restortrain.com

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2026-03-05*

Makes the sign up process way too difficult with email “magical links”

**Developer response:** Hi! Sorry you found the process difficult. While most our users prefer the magic link sign up, we appreciate your feedback and will look for ways to simplify it even further in the future.

### 1/5 — Warnung: “Nutzlos” ohne Premium

*2026-02-05*

“You've reached your message limit.
Upgrade to Pro or try again in 30 days.”

Klar. 30 Tage.

### 2/5 — Good app but it’s 22$ a month

*2026-08-02*

Really good build, but way too expensive (180$/y or 22$/mo) for something you can setup in Claude in 5 min.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thanks for the feedback. We're doing our best to keep the subscription costs as low as we can, but at the same time we want to make sure we use state-of-the-art AI underneath, hence the costs.

Claude is a paid product too, and RestOrTrain can do so much more! From organizing a neat calendar for you, to being deeply oriented to think proactively about you as an athlete, to pushing your workouts to any of your devices or Zwift.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Very effective

*2026-08-22*

Highly recommended for serious self-coached cyclists.

### 5/5 — Climbing ride assessment

*2026-08-20*

I like how it breaks down the workout. It let you know those things you might ignore while trying to improve. Best advises for an AI trainer

### 5/5 — New rider

*2026-08-13*

Enjoying the structure of the workouts - running 9 month program to improve FTP - 3 months in and making strong gains!

### 5/5 — Reseña

*2026-08-06*

Solo llevo utilizando la aplicación dos días y hasta ahora me parece genial. Quiero probarla al menos 30 días para dar una reseña más concreta, hablando incluso hasta de posibles resultados.

### 5/5 — Just Starting

*2026-07-20*

Excited to start with this app. I will tell you how I progress.

### 5/5 — Responsive and Super Helpful

*2026-07-16*

Great advice, adapting and balancing recommendations to frequent inputs from me. Pulls data from Garmin and Health app, and places helpful workout reca on my Garmin as well as calendar reminders. Well worth the (small) price for me!

### 5/5 — Professional Virtual Trainer

*2026-07-14*

I’ve only had this app for a few rides, but the feedback and suggested training plan is amazing! I’ve paid a lot of money in the past for cycling coaching and this app is just as good (or better).

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review!

### 5/5 — Enjoy the workouts

*2026-07-10*

With my health limitations this app dials in with some effective workouts to help strengthen my riding in spite of my limitations. It’s helping me feel more confident in finding a good rhythm with spinning and limited lung capacity.

### 5/5 — 6 months progress

*2026-07-08*

ROT helped loose 7kg and gain 35w on my FTP in 7months, I use it on daily basis, not just training, helps me balance work stress out with progress training, connecting with my Watch tracking my HRV, RHR knows exactly what I need on the spot.

### 5/5 — Good app

*2026-07-07*

I'm using it so well in Korea! It's the best app!
