Most resume advice is useless because everyone is too nice to you. Resume Roast reads your resume and tells you exactly what a recruiter will think in the eight seconds they spend on it. Not "consider adding metrics." It quotes your actual line back to you, says why it fails, and writes the replacement. Then it rebuilds the whole document for you. HOW IT WORKS 1. Paste your resume, or pick a PDF, Word, Pages, or text file. 2. Get a score out of 10, an honest verdict, and a line-by-line breakdown. 3. Tap Rebuild to get a properly organized version you can save and edit. WHAT YOU GET • A real score. Most resumes land between 3 and 6, and it will tell you so. • Specific problems, in plain language, quoting your own words. • The actual rewritten line for every issue — not a description of one. • A rebuilt document in Modern or Harvard format, downloadable as .docx. • Cover letters too, with the same honesty. MATCH IT TO A SPECIFIC JOB Paste the job posting alongside your resume and the feedback changes: which requirements you never answered, where your wording won't survive a keyword screener, and a straight answer on whether this earns you a phone screen. IT WILL NOT MAKE THINGS UP The rebuild reorders, tightens, and rewrites — but it never invents a job, a date, or a number you didn't give it. Where a bullet needs a figure you didn't provide, it leaves a clear [placeholder] for you to fill in. A resume with invented metrics falls apart in the interview, which is worse than a weak one. BUILT TO BE READ BY MACHINES TOO The .docx it produces is deliberately plain — no tables, no columns, no text boxes. Those look nice and parse badly. Your resume is used to generate the feedback and then it's gone — nothing is stored on a server waiting to be read by anyone. This is a passion project, built because resume feedback that's actually specific is genuinely hard to get. ## Version history (last 2 releases) ### 1.0.1 — 2026-08-19 A much bigger release than the version number suggests. Most of it uses no AI at all — it is a direct read of your file, so it is instant and it cannot make anything up. Your Candidate Record shows the row an applicant tracking system builds from your resume: name, contact, location, and a table of jobs with dates. That row is what a recruiter searches, and most people have never seen their own. When a job comes out with no dates, or the employer field holds a job title, the resume looks fine on screen and is invisible in the database. The Six-Second Test shows the other half: what a person reads. Only the top of page one, with a hard cut. Your best number is often below that line. Every Bullet, Graded counts all of them rather than the three a review has room for: how many carry a number, how many open with a duty phrase instead of a result. The ATS X-ray and keyword gap now run in the app too, and they land while the roast is still being written. Rebuilding your resume now shows a measured before and after — the same checks re-run over the rebuilt document, including the rows that did not move.
