## What is Resurface?

Every app blocker on your phone does the same thing: it says no.
Resurface asks why.

When you reach for a blocked app, there's no button that lets you in. You open Resurface, sit through a breathing pause you can't skip, and write down how you feel and what you're doing. Only then do you get a timed window. Over time, an on-device AI reads back what you wrote and shows you the patterns you couldn't see — when you reach, what you're avoiding, what sets you off.

The friction is the point.

FOUR WAYS TO BLOCK

— Always on: locked around the clock
— Scheduled: set time windows, including overnight
— Time limit: a daily allowance, then locked
— Open limit: a set number of opens per day, then done

Blocks stack. If any rule says an app is blocked, it's blocked. Making a block stricter is instant. Loosening one costs you the same pause as an unlock — because the version of you setting limits and the version trying to escape them are rarely the same person.

HARD TO GAME BY DESIGN

No unlock button on the block screen. Difficulty settings scale how long you breathe and how much you write. Deleting a block isn't a shortcut.

YOUR WORDS, READ BACK TO YOU

After a handful of entries, Resurface starts telling you what it sees. No praise, no advice, no therapy-speak — just your patterns, stated plainly. It runs entirely on your device. Your entries never leave your phone, and are never sent to us or anyone else.

SEE THE REAL COST

A usage report shows where your time actually goes. A life projection turns it into the number that matters: the years you're handing to your phone at your current pace.
