Excellent versatility for planning/ mind-map/ brainstorm/ note taking. navigation and control is clean and intuitive. 

Imports images, allows resizing and reorganisation of content.
Customisable colours/shapes, themes, night mode

Rete is the best mind map and note app. The app is very beautiful. However, it is not simple. You can do so many things with it - shapes, colors, fonts, arrangement, etc. - that it couldn't possibly be simple.  Fortunately, the creators provide good documentation.
Another giant plus is that it is presented with an open source license and without ads.
