I like it, it’s fun to start with a scrub team, save up coaching credits and get better coaching jobs. For an 8-bit-esque football game it makes it feel more realistic from a dynasty building perspective. Your coach cred is basically your reputation and “Scholarship money” serves as an effective pay cap that rises as your reputation rises. Bizarrely accurate in the NIL world. They have elegantly blended the classic eight bit football with some interesting mechanics over the years, but this upgrade ruined the game. The scholarship cap is overly punitive. It punishes you for having too many players get drafted. Your hard earned scholarship money is lost in an ether. Explaining that your money gets shared with other schools. There’s no incentive to win or have highly accomplished players. They’re also not done with the palate swaps and template changes that would make this a separate game from the pro version.
