I’m very satisfied with how fast the patch was applied after emailing the creator! The only problem I found now is that occasionally the music goes silent especially for missions. Exiting to the main menu and starting the save again does not fix it. Wish I could zoom out even further. Playing on the touchscreen on the iPad Pro 12.9” gives a dizzying effect due to fast place scrolling gameplay. Minor complaints aside, its a five star game. Wow, this game is incredible, I only ever really leave reviews when I think it’s necessary. And dear me 5 stars isn’t enough. I’ve never normally been a fan of the GTA series because I’m not normally keen on the format, do story quests, or side quests etc. But this is like a massive story, that has hundreds of references from so many things from the past. It genuinely has proper laugh out loud moments [ the dream near the beginning ] , his ethical view point on that stomping game. I read a review talking about how there is an annoying paper boy style level, that’s really difficult, and I would probably agree, that it’s probably the most irritating part, after quite a few attempts i found its a lot easier going a bit slower cause even though you have a time limit it’s quite forgiving, but don’t get me wrong I died plenty of times there. But like there is just so much great content, I haven’t completed it yet, but am thoroughly enjoying it. If I was being picky I’d say the aiming of guns can be a bit finicky but I know the devs have tried to make it as useful as they could and working on a touch screen does have its limits. The game as a whole impresses me the more I play it, I find it’s got almost every type of game in it. Graphic as beautiful low pixel retro . I know the developers really put their heart and soul into it because there are so many little things that really make it an amazing experience. One thing that has been puzzling me, is in the arcade, there is a mini game that involves collecting gold and jumping over blocks, and I cannot for the life of me workout how collect all the gold as there is a certain jump where you have to jump early onto a spring and you end up jumping over a piece of gold. Anyway, all things considered 5 stars, one of the best mobiles games I’ve ever played . ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Needs Backbone support *2024-12-17* I used to be able to play this game on a controller I don’t own anymore. The Backbone controller works really well for this game, but the biggest problem is you can’t press Y to enter vehicles. Instead it acts like a another pause button. Having a virtual joystick was a bad move on the developers part. I just hope they patch it with an option to have fixed controls, like a d-pad. The vehicle controls are fine, as you can switch it to manual ( which gives you fixed buttons to pressed for steering and accelerating), I just wished they had done the same for regular movement. Movement and precision are two very important aspect of these kinds of games, in my opinion, and a virtual joystick hampers it greatly. An option to have it fixed to the screen would've been preferred at the least... Until the controls are updated I would suggest you hold back on this purchase. All the content is there and it controls well, with support for controllers. And to top it off, it’s Retro City Rampage. I ended up buying this to see if my memory as a kid matches what I would feel about this game today… yep, still funny and still fun. The jokes and references are just rediculous kinda that slapstick humor on American Dad or Family guy. Just so many refrences and silliness while also maintaining a simple yet satisfying gameplay. My only critique is the game is rather short, and while they do have challenges around the world, most of them become repetitive and don’t really add anything of substance unless you’re a completionist. Besides that it’s a cute game with great humor but short. The world does have plenty of Easter eggs and challenges so if that suits your for sure it’s a grab, and if your just looking for a short great time, also a solid grab. ### 5/5 — Shakedown Hawaii *2021-07-05* I love this game it’s probably my favorite mobile game I recommend this.
