It’s predictive and it’s limited in its capacity to do so. Typing “old school” abbreviations is impossible because it guesses what you’re trying to say and gets it wrong. T9 texting meant pressing buttons several times to get the correct letter and that isn’t how this app works. The only things it has in common with old texting is the layout and the fact that is in fact more time consuming. But it doesn’t feel nostalgic either. So it fails at being useful or fun. **Developer response:** Hey, The app also has the press the button "2" three times to write the letter "T" T9 mode, you can just turn off predictive text in settings or by holding down the "#" key. It was incredibly nostalgic to use again. I do, however, wish that it was like the old T9 keyboards where it allow you to switch to “multi-tap” mode for individual spelling of words that isn’t in the typical “predictable text” options. Maybe I can’t figure it out despite having read the directions, but I can’t get the keyboard to allow for individual letters. I also wish it had the typical key that “set” a word in and then the word could be manipulated after rather than it deleting the whole word/changing the entire word again like the old T9 had. If you hit “>” then it would set the word. If y’all can somehow implement this to the keyboard, then I would’ve gave this app an 5/5 stars :) ### 2/5 — Not too impressed *2025-06-23* It lacks an emoji or symbols board (I'm using the free version) so if I need a ?!$&@' I have to switch to my other keyboard which seems like a huge oversight. Doesn't seem to be an option to take off the T9 prediction so I don't have the option to tap out my words, only use their predictions which misses basic words like Covid and names. If I wanna tap 633 to type out "me" thats my prerogative and I should get to if they want my $4.99 ### 3/5 — Need some UPDATES *2025-06-22, version 2.6.0* the app is amazing cause it giving retro vibe but in the down side, u cant used any of these (-/:(/₱;@:”’?,. ) theres no buttons for that also emojis button they need to add that app🤷🏻‍♀️ ### 2/5 — No option to “go” *2025-05-30* The prediction is really aggressive and makes you type words you don’t want or adds spaces in “predictive” mode and changes one word into two different words. Can’t “go” when using a browser keyboard. Must switch to another keyboard and go and switch back. Works ok for abc texting and messaging but not for regular use. Would have rather bought a glass of sauv. Haha! **Developer response:** Hey, Thanks for you feedback, I'm actively working improving predictive text, but for "go" long pressing the zero key is enter or return and should also act as go, you shouldn't need to switch keyboards for this feature. This one inserts itself into iOS list off keyboards with full access enabled and no way to turn that off! That means those keyboards can capture everything you type she send it to a third party. Absolute non-starter... you are crazy if you use this! ### 1/5 — High hopes for this app *2026-01-04* Really wished it worked better than claimed. Pressing space 2times did not give a period. Can’t access your emojis. $4.99 for not getting a functioning keyboard. Will be asking for a refund. The app was not designed well unfortunately. Added some words to my dictionary and they weren’t being picked up. Trying to type “Happening” not happening lol. I loved using that type of keyboard and wanted to use it again but this app was a dud. Don’t waste your money on this one. Hepatic features don’t work, and no various symbols and punctuation marks, sure it has a dictionary so it will recognize words you want in place , but that doesn’t work .. There was no mention of this upfront. Feels like a complete waste of time. Definitely not worth it. Avoid this app! **Developer response:** Hey Azaz, The app/keyboard is free to download and use forever, however there are some extra Pro features that are paid but these are entity optional and you don't have to pay for them to get full access to the keyboard, if you don't wish to pay you can simply skip that screen at the start of the app, I hope this helps. If you need any help understanding how to get to the other characters (such as ?,!,&,@, etc.) just click on the FAQ link in the settings. There, they have a nice reference chart. All the characters can be used on the keyboard. Yes, you can type ?!@& and so forth. Yes, you can enter. Yes, you can turn predictive text on and off from the keyboard itself. Do not listen to the bad reviews mentioning these issues, as they simply have not explored the full capacity of the keyboard. My only thing is that the predictions are very assertive and I wish there was a simple button to cycle through them (such as #) rather than having to manually select from the above bar. A handful of bugs here and there (toggles not fully working, haptic not working), which does break some of the immersion (I submitted an email with feedback). Not all regular symbols — such as slashes — are accessible, but the guide in the settings does a great job in explaining the shortcuts that have been implemented for ease of use (such as long-press 0 to press return). Is it a perfect recreation of T9? No; it lacks a few nuances that the OG T9 phones had. But, it is a phenomenal recreation for the digital phone era and I love that about it. I don’t have the paid version (the bells and whistles aren’t as important to me as the overall utility), but if you like how the app runs and want customization bonuses, I feel like this app checks all the boxes.
