### 4/5 — voxel joy

*2022-02-12*

Nice, vaguely Zarch/Virus-flavoured game (albeit less free-form). But seems to get too hard too quickly... 3D space is a little hard to navigate (altitude compared to other objects hard to judge). Great idea though and... blocks are good.

### 4/5 — Nice Lo-Fi Shooter

*2013-11-09*

The game is nice but the controls need flipping. I'm used to using movement with my left finger, and I can't get past Lv. 4. BTW Thanks for supporting the iCade.

### 4/5 — Good Concept

*2013-03-14*

A lot of potential if the developer can put time and resource into it.

### 4/5 — Very fun, very glitchy

*2013-02-11*

The only reason I did not give * * * * * is because of all the crashes and glitches. Otherwise it is very fun.

### 4/5 — Dexterity and Smarts

*2013-02-08*

The combination of lo res blocks and 3D movement give this challenging game a unique and pleasing visual look.

The controls for weapons and propulsion are simple and intuitive, very easy to get comfortable with. Together they combine to give freedom of movement. Unlike many piloting games, I never felt I had to fight the controls as well as the enemy targets. It's a rare game that doesn't make you feel like you are suffering from tunnel vision.

The challenges are a combination of high speed evasion and precise maneuvering, with a few puzzles thrown in to keep you on your toes.

I really enjoyed the way the smooth and steady increase in the level of challenge. At this point I've cleared the first five levels and anticipate several more hours of fun. The game shows the highly developed sense of design possessed by the creator.

I intend to watch sharply for more offerings from this game designer in the future. Well done!

### 4/5 — A good start

*2012-09-08*

This game has a lot of potential. Get it while it's free and keep an eye on it.

### 4/5 — Exactly what I was looking for

*2011-12-21*

What I was looking for-- and more!
After playing with blockart I got nostalgic for the time web voxel based games were cutting edge. Remember the old DOS game, Commanche anyone, with it's voxel landscapes?

Anyhow this is really creative. Like a lego space battle and more. Very imaginative. Not too sure about replay value, buy there is a difficulty control and controls are innovative yet quirky. Nonetheless, as a playable art project it excels!

Thank you!

A future game, perhaps a sequel, might best use voxel boxes of at least half the size. The greater density might allow greater detail and gameplay opportunities.

Cheers

### 4/5 — Cool!

*2011-11-19*

Works great with that 'certain arcade controller'. Looking forward to more games from flat black.

### 4/5 — I liked it

*2011-11-06*

Although it is very short the boards were unique, solid graphics, solid controls. I would pay for an update with more boards.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Blank screen

*2018-05-14*

Trying to play this on iPhone X, and all the game elements disappear. Radar, speed up, slow down buttons, etc. are present but the actual game is blank/black screen. If I reset the app/close it and restart, I see the blue game screen for a second and it disappears again. Oh well, it was free.

### 1/5 — Bad

*2013-09-28*

Horrid controls, and nothing works.

### 1/5 — Produced by morons

*2012-09-22*

It looks nice. 3D blocks in primary colours; chunky, colourful, a sort of primal, building block representation. Everything else is truly awful.

The controls! Fingers and thumbs, clumsy and off putting, like picking up needles whilst wearing boxing gloves. One of the key skills in this fetid game is adjusting the height of one's 3D ship to the height of the enemy. It's impossible to tell which 'layer' one's ship is on; what's my altitude? All the depth perception problems of isometry made worse by the clunky control scheme.

And the goals? The levels are quite inventive but I quit on the fifth. The fourth involves a static target that encourages the player to find a static position from which to shoot. From this position, sometimes the enemy shoots the player, and other times it doesn't. Devs, what is the expected player strategy here? Your controls don't encourage constant movement to confuse enemy targeting. The only sensible option is persistence. Stay still and hope for the best. Once the target is destroyed, the play must fly into a cave without any sense of altitude or relative position. Hit a wall and die. There's no challenge, just irritation.

This is hateful and incompetent, which is a shame considering the pleasing look of the game. Guys, get a designer, you're no good at making games.

### 1/5 — Mies

*2012-09-10*

Einfach nur schlecht!

### 1/5 — NO

*2012-09-09*

WHY DAFUQ IS THE SCREEN BLACK

### 1/5 — G@y

*2012-01-13*

4th level is impossible. Don't buy.

### 2/5 — Has the potential to be fun, only if it stopped crashing so much

*2013-02-07*

The title says it all. The app crashes often, the game seems fun, but I cant even play it properly to enjoy it fully. Developers, please fix this game.

### 2/5 — Failed on my New iPad

*2012-09-09*

Not sure if it's a retina issue or what. But the game starts up, looks like i'm ready to play, but drops back to the menu when I tap the movement controls. Throttle works fine, but not the radar.

### 3/5 — High quality but...

*2015-10-08*

Nice sound ,graphics, simplicity
and total quality.
Quest of dragon stage is nice.
In order to be excellent game, more 10 stage, and more by update.
And more easy, more comfortable controll.
Current controll of ship and view is take stress.
Comfortable controll must be needed.

### 3/5 — Locked rotation

*2012-09-08*

The screen is upside down and it can't be rotated. Extremely annoying.

### 5/5 — Simplicity

*2024-10-04*

Nothing wrong with this on my iPhone SE v12.4.1

3D voxel objects as expected. 3D space re-orientation is an interesting feature. I made it to level 3 of 5 after ten minutes of ramming into things. Getting the hang of it now.

The Radar with heading control pad is useful. Options allow for no radar. Small app size is much appreciated.

I got it to see a demonstration of sprites made with your Voxel editor. It does that, plus it is an actual game. And it is free.

Maybe allow adding a custom level map from Voxel editor and a replacement ship sprite too. This would demo our creations in a game setting.

### 5/5 — Nice

*2014-08-03*

一款不错的小型3D游戏

### 5/5 — I love it!

*2014-04-01*

### 5/5 — Great!!!

*2012-09-09*

Great Nostalgic game. Needs more than 5 levels. Still great game!!!

### 5/5 — Icade

*2012-06-14*

The icade mobile works but it goes vertical and I cant play it
But overall it's great!

### 5/5 — Level 4

*2012-05-04*

I loved this app, and spent the most time on level 4. I would love to see a bigger and more complex world similar to level 4.

### 5/5 — Pls update:)

*2012-01-22*

U did a terrific job making a great game but could u make more levels to play?

### 5/5 — Excellent retro fun!

*2011-10-16*

I had a great time with this game. The controls took some getting used to, but after a short while I was blasting like a pro going full speed. It is short, but every level is unique and there are multiple unlockable difficulties. Here's hoping for more levels in the future!
By the way, the games aesthetics are beautiful. Bravo!
