## What is RetroNotes Markdown?

RetroNotes Markdown is a local-file-based app for text, voice, visual, and drawing notes. Capture ideas naturally while keeping the original content as readable Markdown and TXT files.

TEXT NOTE

Write in a focused three-column workspace. Text Notes are stored as Markdown and TXT files and can be found by searching titles and content.

VOICE NOTE + RECALL

Hold the Voice Note button, speak, then release. RetroNotes uses system speech recognition and adds the transcription to today’s Voice Note. Original audio is not kept.

Recall lets you ask questions about your Voice Notes. RetroNotes searches the original records first and presents a conclusion with supporting sources when sufficient information is available.

VISION NOTE

Tap the RetroNotes logo and import up to nine photos or screenshots. RetroNotes extracts visible text while preserving the relative position and size of each recognised text region.

DRAW NOTE

Long-press the new-note button to open Draw Note. Draw freely on selectable A, B, envelope, and US paper sizes.

Export drawings as SVG, PDF, PNG, or PPTX. Handwritten strokes remain editable in PowerPoint. Visually closed drawings can be filled with colour while retaining their original hand-drawn outlines.

RETRODISK

Use RetroDisk to transfer a file from Mac to iPhone or iPad through the Mac screen and the receiving device’s camera.

RetroDisk works without Bluetooth, AirDrop, a local network, a cable, or an account-based cloud service.

PAPER DISK

Use Paper Disk to turn a small important file into an encrypted printable A4 PDF archive.

Each page stores about 10KB. A full 1.44MB Paper Disk is about 144 pages.

Paper Disk is designed for reliable personal paper recovery of small essential files, such as Markdown files, TXT files, recovery notes, and other key documents.

To restore, scan every printed page. A page is confirmed after all 9 QR codes on that page are scanned. The file restores automatically when all pages are complete.

Paper Disk encrypts file content before writing the encrypted data into QR codes. File name, page number, and ID are visible on paper; file content is not stored as plain text in the QR codes.

LOCAL FILES

Notes remain available as Markdown and TXT files. Choose where they are stored so they are easy to read, back up, move, and access outside RetroNotes.

Recall uses a locally rebuildable index. Markdown and TXT files remain the primary data.

The system keyboard, speech recognition, text recognition, camera, or iCloud Photos may require permission or network access. RetroNotes does not provide an account-based cloud service.

RetroNotes does not include ads, analytics, tracking services, subscriptions, or in-app purchases.
