## What is Return?

Return is a quiet, private way for Jehovah's Witnesses to remember a ministry conversation and return prepared.

Capture a conversation in seconds — typed or spoken, in your own words. Return saves those words on your device first. On supported iPhone, on-device intelligence can then notice useful details such as a person, Scripture, topic, follow-up, or return visit time. Return shows you what it kept on the receipt, and you can change or remove any of it. A saved conversation is complete even with no details at all.

When it is time to return, Return brings the right confirmed memory back into view before you knock, call, write, or meet: what you discussed, what you promised, and what comes next. Save contact information only when it was provided, choose the service yourself, and keep an unsupported link or handle readable and copyable rather than guessing.

WHAT RETURN DOES

• Capture while it is fresh. Write or speak naturally; no person, place, form, or connection is required before Save.
• See what Return noticed. Details appear on the receipt as soon as you save, and stay editable afterwards.
• Return prepared. Contextual preparation brings back the previous conversation, confirmed Scriptures and material, promised follow-up, and the return visit you planned.
• Find the door again. Save an address or Apple Maps place, a precise pin, doorway photo, or landmark path. Essential distance and bearing still work without map tiles or a connection.
• Keep relationship memory. Conversation history stays reachable even when a conversation is not attached to a person.
• Designed for iPad. Browse your ministry notes in a multi-column Living Fieldbook, with keyboard shortcuts if you use a hardware keyboard.
• Use it from Apple Watch. Capture, your next return visit, and the ministry timer stay close on your wrist.
• Report plainly. Review ministry participation, optional hours and credit hours, and Bible studies before sharing a monthly report.
• Private by default, not by setting. Return covers its content the moment it isn't active, and a doorway photo opens on its description until you tap to reveal it.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

• Core records live on your device. Return has no account, developer notes server, analytics, ads, or third-party trackers.
• Return uses Apple's Speech Recognition and requests on-device recognition to turn speech into text. iOS may disclose that speech data can be sent to Apple for speech recognition. Return has no server that receives your recording, and the recording is deleted after you review the note.
• Return never creates a hidden profile about a person. Structured details come only from your words, are always shown to you, and stay editable.
• You can record whether a person knows you keep a note, and review, export, or erase records when you choose.

THE ESSENTIAL WORK STAYS FREE

Capture, conversations, return visits, Bible studies, reporting, hours, timers, Apple Watch, widgets, essential maps and offline wayfinding, privacy controls, export and erase, and accessibility remain complete on device without a subscription.

Return Supporter is an optional monthly or annual subscription for additional conveniences such as private iCloud sync, automatic backup, richer map presentation, reflective views, and more appearance choices. Fieldbook Light, Fieldbook Dark, Match System, and assisted reference lookup stay free. Supporter never locks your own records or the only path to a core action.

Return is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or produced by any religious organization.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.7.2 — 2026-10-04

Return 1.7.2 makes what you see more direct:

• Doorway photos now show right away. Before, a saved photo sat behind its description until you tapped it, so a photo you had just taken could look blank. Your description is still read aloud by VoiceOver and still stands in if the photo isn't on this device.
• Erasing a person's notes: the button now sits directly under the list of what will be removed, so it is easy to find.
• Return no longer covers its screen in the app switcher, so you can see where you were when you switch between Return and a reference such as JW Library.
• Your records remain local-first, exportable, and fully available without Supporter.

### 1.7.1 — 2026-10-03

Return 1.7.1 makes private continuity more dependable:

• Automatic iCloud Drive backups: Supporters now start with a daily backup schedule, and Return rebuilds its visible backup folders when they are missing.
• Safer restore points: an existing automatic backup is never replaced by another backup created in the same second.
• More reliable private sync: Return now carries the required production notification entitlement for CloudKit’s background change delivery.
• Your records remain local-first, exportable, and fully available without Supporter.

### 1.7.0 — 2026-10-03

Return 1.7.0 brings interactive Scripture citations and streamlined navigation:

• Scripture citation links: citations in "Your words" (like John 3:16 or Matt 24:14) are now automatically recognized and tappable. Tap any citation to open it directly in JW Library or read it on JW.ORG.
• 1-tap navigation handoff: tapping the map direction card opens your preferred navigation app (Apple Maps or Google Maps) directly on a single tap, while long-press retains destination choices.
• App launch stability: pre-initialized storage ensures consistent, reliable app startup.
• Free core baseline: Fieldbook Light, Fieldbook Dark, Match System, and assisted reference lookup remain free for all publishers.

### 1.6.1 — 2026-10-02

Return 1.6.1 refines visit preparation and doorstep wayfinding:

• Before you knock: wayfinding instructions ("How to find the door") are now elevated above visit outcomes, so you can easily review landmarks and door directions before knocking.
• Tactile doorstep controls: clear checkmark glyph on "Mark as visited" and frosted secondary buttons for Capture and Not at home with enhanced contrast and boundaries.
• Choose Apple Maps or Google Maps for navigation to a saved place, with walking time shown as you approach.
• Person-owned places, simplified return visits, and direct contact options with custom messaging choices.
• Free core features: Fieldbook Dark, Match System, and assisted jw.org reference lookup are free for all publishers.

### 1.6.0 — 2026-10-01

Return 1.6 brings more ways to return prepared.

• Choose Apple Maps or Google Maps for a saved place, and see walking time as you approach.
• Fieldbook Dark, Match System, and assisted jw.org reference lookup are now free for everyone.
• Return Supporter now offers monthly or annual billing for optional private sync, automatic backup, richer maps, reflective views, and additional themes.
• Keep each saved place with the person it belongs to, and plan return visits without extra place labels.
• Add contact info with a number, email address, shared link, or handle. Choose the messaging service yourself; unsupported contacts stay readable and copyable.
