### 2/5 — Sorely disappointed

*2025-02-17*

Since upgrading to 14.1, Reunion Touch pretends that I have no people in the file. There is no way to open a different file on the app. I’d also like to not download images on Reunion Touch but there is no option to change that. This is bare bones to the extreme. Wish someone would make this app useful. It’s a great idea just not working.

### 3/5 — Does not synchronize with other devices on iCloud

*2023-12-24*

I have been using Reunion on my Mac since around 1994. it contains the data expertly, and I'm full of gratitude that it has kept my data intact for nearly 30 years The Mac version is totally un-Maclike. I don't think the designers ever looked at Mac user interface guidelines. Same is true for Version 1.0.19 for iOS: version; they don't take advantage of any of the user interface genius of the iPhone. It works, and I'm glad to have it available on my iPhone. Dealbreaker: when I added a note to a person's record on my iPad and added a photo, those changes did not sync back to my iPhone even after restarting both devices. Dear Product Manager, please ask Apple for help. You need it. ... Now I understand when it says "Family files on this device". I mistakenly thought that it would have a link back to iCloud. My mistake. And I see that it says "Download a family file from iCloud Drive" They never promised to synchronize my file. Why not? That's the whole point of iCloud. So I deleted the app from my iPhone, because it is dangerous to have two separate files on two separate devices being updated, and they know that. I take responsibility for my mistake in understanding how it works. But they should make it more clear. They should make it clear that if I use Dropbox, either it will sync, or it will be the same problem: downloading and not synchronizing.

### 4/5 — Disappointing

*2023-07-09*

I like the Reunion app, but I am totally disappointed with the fact that I have to pay for expensive updates to get very little value from them. In particular, why do I have to keep using Dropbox to sync after all these years later? It is totally disappointing that Reunion can’t move forward, I love my past but I like to use apps that keep up with my current life. Please!!! I would like to sync this app like the rest of my apps.

### 3/5 — An sich gut.

*2022-06-06*

Benütze Réunion schon sehr lange. Gute App. Einfach zu benützen. Nervig ist nur, dass eine Synchronisation nur über Dropbox möglich ist. Die Beschränkung auf drei Geräte ist heutzutage inakzeptabel.

### 4/5 — Brilliant app but needs to be more independent of the Mac OS platform

*2021-07-15*

I have used both Reunion on my iMacs and Reunion Touch for many years but I am now trying to wean myself away from the Mac OS platforms as the independent iPad and IOS platforms are so powerful. What I would love to have is the ability to create my family file directly on my iPad by importing a standard gedcom file but I cannot do this in the current version. Once established I can then sync the family file to my Dropbox version as now. Apple are building very powerful iPads that are capable of doing most of what one once needed a Mac computer to do. Else maybe you could build a new IOS app that has all the features of the Mac version. I would be happy to purchase that.

### 2/5 — Update available soon?

*2021-02-12*

I recently updated my desktop version of reunion to version 13. Since then I am unable to access ReunionTouch on my iPad. Is there an update coming soon to support this?

### 3/5 — It’s OK

*2020-12-08*

The interface doesn’t match the desktop interface at all.
On my iPad Pro, the task switcher bar interferes with the bottom toolbar.

It’s good for reference, but not good as a data entry tool. It’s just too hard to work with after using the desktop app.

### 3/5 — Cannot switch Family trees

*2020-05-10*

Long-time Reunion user. User interface needs to be made more intuitive.

Otherwise, the app seems to work fine.

### 3/5 — Good start

*2019-09-02*

I’ve been using Reunion for years and it’s great. When the opportunity presented to use ReunionTouch on my iPad I couldn’t resist. The drop box reliance was the only extra annoyance and something I hadn’t used. I really didn’t want to sign up to an extra service. I would like iCloud support option . Everything works although the search function could improve.

### 2/5 — No iCloud

*2019-06-15*

Very disappointed that you have to use DropBox and can’t use Apple cloud to sync. Decided to uninstall app

### 3/5 — Reunion Touch

*2018-07-30*

Note: You need "Drop Box" for this app at $20 odd dollars/ month (unless you use the 1st month free). You also need the latest, or second latest version of Reunion on your Mac or it won't work, so you had better be sure you have your original purchase records for your current version of Reunion to pay the upgrade price or you'll fork out for the full version all over again. So it all adds up to a lot more than the cost of the iOS app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2024-10-12, version 1.0.21*

Without being able to easily upload a GED.com file, this program is useless. Whoever heard of a genealogy program that won’t upload a gedcom file? Now you’ve heard of one. I really Don’t want to jump through hoops to get data into the genealogy program

### 1/5 — Ridiculous to require Dropbox!

*2023-04-23*

I had been happily using Reunion for years, easily syncing computer and iPad weekly. Then Dropbox entered the picture. Ridiculous to pay over $100 a year in addition to the one-time cost of Reunion. (Free Dropbox account is unusable since it has a 3-device limit.) MacFamilyTree is harder to use but I’m trying to learn it. Cloud sync makes it the winner.

### 1/5 — Needs more syncing options

*2021-07-16*

What is wrong with this company that they force a user to use Dropbox, and not iCloud? There is no excuse for this!

I do not understand how a company that has always been an Mac/iOS company refuses to support iCloud syncing. I don’t want Dropbox installed on anything I own, yet I’m forced to in order to use an otherwise great app (MAC and iOS.) Another update, and still no iCloud support! Still no iCloud support! It’s been a year since I wrote my initial review. The app gets updated and yet still no iCloud support. I had reluctantly installed Dropbox just for syncing my file from my Mac. After recently discovering the dirty tricks that Dropbox in doing on the Mac , I deleted it completely from all of my devices. So now I have a useless app since the developer will not support other syncing or manually transferring your files.

### 1/5 — Why?

*2020-10-05*

I’m disgusted that Reunion FORCES you to use Dropbox at about $20 a month. I’m horrified that if you delete something from Dropbox it deletes it everywhere. I can’t afford unlimited internet let alone $20 a month for an app I don’t want. Bring back plugging the iPad into the Mac, or Bluetooth or ANYTHING other then Dropbox!

### 1/5 — Dropbox Issue

*2019-05-30*

Very disappointed that the app uses a third-party app (Dropbox) to connect to the software file on my Mac. My Mac is very old, but I was able to install the Reunion software and it works very well. However, when I purchased the app I learned that I had to use Dropbox to get the file out of my computer. This is when I learned that Dropbox is no longer supported on my old Mac. I tried to email the file to myself and put it in Dropbox on my iPad, but the file converts to a ZIP file when emailed and is therefore unusable bu Dropbox. There are other ‘cloud’ options that are much more efficient than Dropbox. I find it very disappointing that this is the only option that Reunion are prepared to use.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t sync

*2019-05-15*

I have Dropbox set up and can see my file but I will not open. Forget this.

### 1/5 — Never worked

*2018-05-22*

I had the old app that I had to sync between my devices and two devices. All MAC products. Loved that app and used all the time. But with last reunion update for my Mac Pro I purchased, Reunion started promoting this app with drop box. Set everything up. Tried to upload files to this app and all it does is spin. Had a tech in. Everything checked and still will not upload. Contacted the company with all of the information on my computer and devices and the problem. Told me I did not have enough info and asked for the very info that was in the email. So said forget it, and continued to use the old product until they decided not to support it. I am very unhappy that I paid just under $5 for the first app and a whooping $15 for this garbage that never worked and now I have neither. It was convenient while it lasted, but leister is totally unhelpful and dismissive.

### 1/5 — Dropbox App, NOT just dropbox account

*2018-01-23*

They are still only allowing Dropbox sync, so very disappointed. As a customer since the 1st version, we’re now switching something that doesn’t require Dropbox.
—————-
Old:
The description here says you have to have a "Dropbox account" not that you have to install the Dropbox app on the Mac (which in Sept 2016) had some serious security concerns well documented online. So, is there a way to use this by just copying the files to dropbox (just copying for me sends dropbox a zip of the Reunion 11 folder and copying the package contents individually is not recognized by the app), minus the dropbox app? Otherwise, the description should be updated to accurately reflect reality that a dropbox account is not the only thing required so you don't waste nearly $10 on something you can't use.

### 1/5 — I don't want Dropbox or any cloud

*2017-12-31*

Useless without Dropbox. How many breaches would it take to convince Leister that we don't want to leave our data in someone else's hands?

### 1/5 — Save your money

*2017-10-19*

Have been using Reunion for many years but this app is a rip too far. Usually when an app updates it brings your data along to the new version. Not this one. The ONLY way to get your data from the old iPad app to this new one is to spend another $50 bucks to upgrade the desktop version and then sync to this app via Dropbox. Otherwise when you update your iPad to iOS 11 all your data from the old app disappears.

But for full disclosure they have now made this a universal app, if you use it on more than one device there is no additional charge for each device. Previously there was a separate charge for each device.

### 5/5 — Absolutely brilliant

### 5/5 — Absolutely brilliant

### 5/5 — Outstanding software

*2025-03-06*

I have been using Reunion since version 5. The support group is awesome, they will help you work thru any issues and answer any questions you may have. The help menu is very detailed. The best thing about Leister Pro is they only do Reunion software but they do it for many languages.

### 5/5 — Like it

*2021-10-07*

Really like being able to show a tree chart on screen and then immediately share it via PDF.

### 5/5 — Adds a whole new dimension to genealogy research and access!

*2019-07-08*

I love this app! Since I was an early adapter to Apple and have been doing genealogy research for over 30 years, I started using Reunion right from the beginning. Having the versatility to bring my tree everywhere I go AND UPDATE IT, is huge! Honestly, I access it at least a couple of times a week when I’m out and about and run into someone with a familiar name or connection. I just updated to Reunion 12 and am having some issues relinking to the newer file, but I have every confidence in the Leister company to help me through as they have for decades. Thank you to them for always being ahead of the game and for keeping up with this amazing tool.

### 5/5 — Works

*2019-04-22*

Has worked for me as advertised.

### 5/5 — Is it Dropbox?

*2018-07-23*

It appears that users either love this app or hate it. I am one of the lovers. First you have to understand that this app is for viewing a Reunion tree, not for creating one. Second, it has to be synched thru Dropbox. I suspect that at least some of the haters are experiencing problems not with the app but with setting up Dropbox. Setting up Dropbox is not the easiest thing in the world if you haven’t done it before. (I find it easier than iCloud.) Maybe those who are having problems would do better to talk to Dropbox Support instead of Reunion.

### 5/5 — Reunion Touch

*2018-06-12*

Very good baby app, handy when your out and about. Well made, does what it says on the tin.

### 5/5 — The best genealogy app regardless of platform.

*2018-03-13*

I’ve been using Reunion since the 90’s and I really like the portably of Reunion when I’m out researching. Yes, out researching, you cannot to it sitting on your couch. The Dropbox enhancement of have your genealogy info and photos on all of your Apple devices is genius.

### 5/5 — Brilliant app

*2017-11-24, version 1.0.4*

It's rare that an app so nicely replicates a programme and is so straight forward and easy to use. This programme is powerful, intuitive and very useful. When your away from your Reunion Programme, say looking at monumental inscriptions or hearing important details, you can record it on the app and then it automatically gets uploaded on your Mac's Reunion and it works in reverse - so you'll always have your information with you.

The downloading is simple -overall a great app
