Why can’t it remember me? I even downloaded all the content, but it still asks me to log in every time. Cost for premium content but you can at least pull up the points of interests and search them elsewhere. The driving tour is also a separate charge. Very helpful. We would have been hesitant & unsure to stop at some places without the help of this app (for example: Mauna Kea beach with the guarded gate at top). Recommendations are great! We found the history very interesting especially on some of the longer drives on the Big Island. Good job figuring out the navigational secrets of the early Polynesian settlers! ### 5/5 — Best Guide for Years *2026-02-03, version 6.29.8* I first used Revealed Hawai’i 20 years ago as my guidebook. When I planned a trip back to Hawaii and Maui this year the first thing I did was get these travel guides. I have given them as wedding gifts to friends going to Hawaii on their honeymoon. This year I used the accommodations, reviews and found an absolutely perfect 2 BR/2BA condo on Maui for less than a hotel I was looking at. Perfect place to stay. We chose our restaurants, drives and activities based on the recommendations and were so happy with each. They know all of Hawaii and share the great, the good and what to avoid. But plans never survive actual battles as they say. So having read up on all things, I am able to find information I need on the ground with this app. The monthly subscription is well-worth it while you are here. Being able to pull up the map in the app and see gems around you allows us to do things on a whim based on what we see on the ground. Thanks!!! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Too much changed!!! *2026-08-21, version 6.29.22* After purchasing several versions of the Big Island Revealed book I was thrilled that they went to an interactive app format several years ago. This year I went to update and discovered a new app engine was required. So I downloaded and purchased the subscription only to find it is virtually unusable. The least intuitive app I have ever used. Clunky engine that does not work interactively well. The number of restaurants and beaches and sites that aren’t covered or impossible to find is unfathomable. I’m really sorry because the original material was great. This was a big disappointment and I’ve already cancelled the subscription. ### 1/5 — Already bought the book *2026-07-04, version 6.29.19* Do you want me to buy your book or your app? The app is terrible- It is awkward to navigate, focuses on a lot of retail. The app fails to recognize that I have paid for the “upgraded” edition and so won’t let me access any of the truly useful information. Really poor and disappointing execution of this app when compared with their books. No way to contact customer service- ? Maybe customer service isn’t of any interest to them? ### 1/5 — Glitchy *2026-05-26, version 6.29.8* Makes me sign in with my Apple ID almost every time I open the app. The app sometimes doesn’t pause my music and just starts talking over the music so you can’t hear what he’s talking about. When I was in poor service areas, the app didn’t function. Because I didn’t want it to renew on April 19, I cancelled the subscription. Apple says the subscription will cancel on April 19. When attempting to log in, it does not open the app. Tried resetting the password with the same result. Double checked to make sure this was not a password error by entering the password incorrectly and this produced the password error message. In conclusion, the app is not opening with the correct password. ### 1/5 — Yikes. Watch out *2025-10-20, version 6.29.3* I’ve loved the Kauai reviewed by wizard for years. When I renewed on the Kauai reviews app they were happy to take my money. But the app doesn’t work. It appears to be shifted to this app. But the money paid to them on the other app doesn’t apply. Now it app that I’m out 17.99. In general I’ve enjoyed their reviews over the past 20 years. Some real ONO experiences. Disappointed by this latest switch and update ### 1/5 — Not as described *2025-06-14, version 6.27.1* Bought the Oahu Revealed book, which was great and totally worth it. The book then recommended this app for a modest fee ($11.99 per month is not modest in my book) to get up to date conditions at these tourist areas. I have not seen a single current condition or a place to navigate to in order to see such information. The content turns on based on the gps signals. The advice on the lookouts in Kauai was spot on. The technology truly functioned as if we hired an actual local guide riding in the car with us. Customer service was very responsive. Highly highly recommend the drive tours even if it’s an additional cost. I used the book the 1st time and then now used the app for the Big Island and Kauai, game changer! I was so impressed before with the details and insight from the books, but what Andrew and his team had done with technology using the app and GPS tour guide is unparalleled. I had already given two different families the heads up about the books in the past and they thanked me for the advice. But now using the app to save Favorites, Maps, and built in tour guide gives you everything you need! It’s worth every penny and then some.
