After receiving my hardware in late August the company complete forgot about my existence. Busy with construction, it wasn't until I needed to know what was necessary for wiring that I discovered how bad this company is at support. Multiple attempts to get someone to answer a simp,e question about wiring led nowhere; it generally took 4-5 days to get a response to an inquiry. After several weeks of blatant disregard, I gave up and cancelled. They won't take back their unopened, unused hardware, will charge a $500 per terminal cancellation fee and want to charge almost $2000 for installation services they never supplied. I can't encourage you enough to explore other options before you repeat my disastrous and expensive mistake with this terrible company. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Major issue with latest update *2023-12-12, version 2.78.15* System worked great until we did the latest update(2.78). Since that it’s been HORRIBLE! Issues with syncing, orders deleting from system, orders sent to kitchen twice & the list goes on & on. Very frustrating for entire staff and A LOT of money has been lost for the business(discounts for customers waiting & food wasted). Very frustrating… just did latest update to version now at .15, keeping fingers crossed this is the bug fixes version we need. That’s 15 versions in 3weeks….hmmmm a lot of bug fixes, so do not think we are only one with issues. Frustrated in Upland,Pennsylvania ### 1/5 — Wow, I see many share same points. *2023-11-01, version 2.77.26* Every week now there is a new update, and I am having hard time just keeping up. I have been using Revel for 4+ years and even tho I am so used to it now we still have issues with the OTs connectivity, forget about credit card machine that have to be rebooted 3 to 4 times every day!!! Looks for a different system that it’s not IOS operating system. ### 1/5 — Update causing a lot of problems *2023-07-21, version 2.77.7* Recent update v2.77 is causing a lot of problem during rush. Called support but they said “they don’t have any problems” and are not helping at all to get this problem fixed. They said we have to downgrade the version instead of fix the bugs. ### 1/5 — Very outdated and unprofessional *2021-09-01, version 2.71.11* We have been using revel for 3+years, it has a lot of connection issues especially with payment. Whenever I call support they blame the iPad or “our equipment “ when everything is revel provided. During COVID we had to find ways to save money and the only way they were able to do this was to force us into another 3 year contract. Now they want 7000 to break this contract that they forced us into when we were desperate. Would never recommend them. ### 1/5 — Worst Update Ever *2019-11-25, version 2.55.5* If we could rate this 0 stars we would. This has update has been miserable and caused our business to be down three days. Unacceptable miscommunications between their internal departments causing chaos for us with profit loss and frustrated customers. ### 1/5 — Known issue *2018-12-05, version 2.43.7* When we tried to figure out why we couldn’t run reports without the system crashing they told us “that’s a known issue, download the old version” please test your system before publishing updates ### 1/5 — Replacing soon *2018-10-29, version 2.43.3* The older sys was much better and easier to use. Backend end does not sync with quick books even after updating QB to 2018, Tech support is in Russia or somewhere and they don’t understand what your trying to get fixed because they don’t understand how Americans think about problems. Sys is probably ok for restaurants but for any other mobile business where you have multiple locations and route sales it is not that great at all. I’m currently looking at several other options and will change by the end of the year. ### 1/5 — Older versions *2018-09-20, version 2.40.12* Need older versions in case of emergency. Waste too much time with phone support for no reason ### 1/5 — Scales still broke *2017-04-26, version 2.22.9* The 2.22 version has been out for nearly three months and still the core functionality with scales is broke. Revel is slowly falling apart and their attention to quality and customer service is going downhill fast. ### 1/5 — HORRIBLE SYSTEM *2017-03-17, version 2.22.6* We have had this system for a year and a half now and it has never fully worked properly. We have lost lots of time and money trying to get their system to work. Many issues with the system itself and customer service. If you expect a refund they will not. We are now left with a system that doesn't work and have their hardware which serves no use to us since it doesn't work. Summary of our issues from day 1 that are still ongoing, just to name a few: - Syncing issues - iPads not communicating with one another, to the main iPad - Tickets not printing to kitchen - Old tickets continually appearing in kitchen and also printing out - Limited report functions - you're stuck with what they have for data for reports. Cannot custom reports to your needs - System going offline even when there is internet connection - System doesn't work when there is no internet connection, as promised - Inconsistency with customer service knowledge ## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — They cool *2023-05-27, version 2.76.20* Revel is pretty cool. The way they work is pretty cool. Bahama bucks is pretty cool. ### 5/5 — Worry free *2023-01-11* Outstanding tech support, once you get your head around the program it is a very sufficient system with many tweaks to help your business prosper. Tech support is amazing! They have never let me down when I’ve hit a problem. That for me puts the icing on the cake. If you are I would advise you to pay to get it installed because this system is too advanced for you. ### 5/5 — Awesome if you know how to use it *2019-10-26, version 2.51.12* Been working with Revel for about 8 years and it’s one of the most dynamic systems I’ve ever seen. I read a lot of people complaining about the software and I think it boils down to sheer laziness. It’s a powerful tool that has all the features a business needs to grow. ### 5/5 — Excellent POS app *2019-06-08* We have been using Revel for over 2 years, and it has been a game changer for our business. We have a mall food court, quick serve restaurant. All the staff are competent and love using the app. Management console is good, and it integrates seamlessly with my Moneris debit system. We are in Canada, so the setup is a bit different than our US counterparts. Highly recommended. ### 2/5 — New crash *2025-03-23, version 2.80.21* When people do tap pay, there’s an error that pops up and crashes the software. Obviously not good. Please fix! ### 2/5 — Have servers test before new updates *2018-08-17, version 2.40.9* The last few updates that have come through have completely rearranged buttons and/or added extra steps. Please have someone who’s actually worked in the industry test your updates before you roll them out.
