### 4/5 — Update to my initial review

*2026-02-23*

Fair enough, being an independent app developer must be difficult, and the app’s core functionality is not locked behind a paywall which I appreciate. I’m just tired of everything having to be a subscription, but I suppose money is tighter in general for most people these days.

**Developer response:** I am so glad to hear that you find Reverse Chord Finder useful! As to being profitable - developing and supporting my apps is my full time job. I am an independent app developer, and need to be able to pay my mortgage and put food on the table for my family just like everyone else.

That said, the subscription option is really for those who only need the app for short-term use. If you think you’ll find the app useful for years to come, you can always purchase the Lifetime option!

### 5/5 — One of the best apps I’ve ever bought

*2024-08-20*

I bought this many years ago, maybe 9 or 10, and I still use it to this day. It helped me more than almost any other app, video, book, or real life lesson. It still helps me, even though I’ve advanced in my learning. It just helped me make so much sense of the steps and intervals in chords. It still took my slow brain a while to understand how chords are built and what to call them, but I honestly feel Reverse Chord Finder accelerated my learning ten fold. I’ve never even seen another app that does what Reverse Chord Finder does.
The only thing that would make it better would be if it also did regular chord finder, just enter the name of a chord and it would show you the notes. But there are a ton of other apps that do that.
Not a ton that do it in reverse, like Reverse Chord Finder.
I want to sincerely thank the developers of this app. If I could give it 10 stars, I would.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for your kind words! It means a lot to me as a solo developer to hear how this app helps folk like you! I am considering adding standard chord dictionary functionality to the app, too. If you have any other suggestions for improvements, do check out the Feature Requests list you can get to in the app via the Settings page!

### 5/5 — reverse chords

*2024-06-03, version 2024.3*

very useful !!

### 5/5 — Great App

*2023-09-22, version 2023.1*

I’m a professional guitarist and this app is excellent for figuring out and naming chords. Great for practical use and brushing up on chord theory.

### 5/5 — Killer

*2023-05-07*

I love this app. It’s perfect for someone writing songs. If you don’t know what the cord is from the shape you’re making, type it in and bam there’s your answer.

### 5/5 — Perfection . . . period.

*2023-03-31*

Have carried this app on my phone several years now. It has never failed to perform for the functions for which I originally obtained it…plus the interface is elegant!

Great work resulting in a great app!
Thank you ReverseChord team!

### 5/5 — Reverse Chord Finder

*2023-02-09*

An absolute must for Piano and Guitar players. A very powerful tool which will help you to decipher songs with clarity unlocking the chords to all your songs.

### 5/5 — The Lost Chord App

*2022-12-05, version 2021.4*

This is the guitar chord app Ive waited years for. Well worth it. Quick, simple, accurate.

### 4/5 — Perfect app for guitar creativity

*2022-11-04, version 2021.4*

Even with strong theory, it is simetimes hard to find the correct name of the chord. This app gives you one (but it dors not give you multiple alternative for the chord). It can be a good help during rehearsal to keep a track pf your musical discoveries :-)!

### 5/5 — Excelente

*2022-09-28, version 2021.4*

Me encanta la app, la uso constantemente!

### 3/5 — not enough

*2022-09-05*

pls let people chart songs

### 5/5 — Superb chord naming identification app

*2022-08-18, version 2021.4*

I hate reviews and I gave this was way above 5 stars.

### 5/5 — I LOVE this app!!

*2022-08-16*

I switched from piano to fingerstyle guitar as my main instrument a few years ago. I could always figure out what chord I was playing on piano, but on guitar, often I have no clue what I am doing. Now I know how to notate some of the stranger chords!

I especially like that you can do this with different tunings like Drop-D! Five stars all the way!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Suddenly lost access

*2026-02-24, version 2025.2*

Why did I suddenly lose access after several years? No explanation

### 1/5 — This does not need to be subscription based

*2026-01-30, version 2025.2*

The app works great but locking certain features behind a subscription is profitable, but also really annoying for your users.

### 1/5 — No longer free for piano

*2025-04-23, version 2025.1*

I used to be able to check any chord I needed on piano. Now one has to pay to see it. I am changing to other free apps.

### 1/5 — I’ve never deleted an app so fast before in my life!

*2024-08-28*

I downloaded this app specifically because there was a chord that I wanted to find and I figured an app would be a great way to do so. The problem is that I need the chord on the piano and you have to pay just to access the piano. Ever figure that maybe the person using the app doesn’t play guitar? How is it fair that you only give the guitar players free access? Ever think of giving the users 1 free CHOICE and then making the rest premium? Ridiculous. I’ve never left a bad review before so I feel bad for doing this but this definitely needs to be addressed because it is in no way fair to us piano players. This was the first app I looked to and I feel bad that I had to delete it and find another one but make it make sense please.

**Developer response:** Hey there thanks for the feedback. That’s a great idea regarding choosing what free instrument to get. What I’m not sure how to do is make it possible to choose a free instrument that isn’t easily bypassed by just deleting the app, re-installing, then choosing a new free instrument. I’ll give it some thought and if I think of a robust solution I’ll be sure to implement it!

### 1/5 — Frustrating!

*2023-09-16*

Started off being able to use a piano keyboard option then it was suddenly removed with a guitar fretboard as the only option.

**Developer response:** Reverse Chord Finder is a freemium app. You get a trial of all instruments when you begin using it, but once the trial expires you have access to only the 6-string guitar instrument unless you become a paid user. Note that there are monthly, and annual subscription option, and a lifetime purchase option if you don't like subscriptions.

### 1/5 — Was going to purchase, but then

*2022-12-11*

I found the capo feature isn’t working. For example, an open position D major shape should not have the same notes as when in front of a capo at the second fret (or anywhere else), yet that is exactly what it currently shows in-app.

Disappointing but hopefully easy for the developers to correct soon.

### 1/5 — In app purchase

*2022-10-13, version 2021.4*

Come on, you have to pay for piano?

### 1/5 — Wrong name of chords are shown

*2022-01-15, version 2021.4*

Wrong name of chords - I need f finished and is giving me G#maj7(5).. the program needs some revision

### 1/5 — Features taken away

*2022-01-01, version 2021.4*

And now you want me to pay. Lame.

### 1/5 — Was better before!

*2021-12-25, version 2021.4*

I don’t think it was smart to try to make the piano come with a paid version.. I will no longer use the app and I’ll go to a free one. It’s not worth it anymore. Used to not be that way.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Reverse Chord review

*2026-08-06*

Great App, very useful for several reasons. To learn chord names especially odd ones, to document weird chords you discover by accident (!) and by making screenshots to illustrate chord fingerings in charts. Works great.

### 5/5 — App bellissima

*2026-06-17, version 2026.3*

tastiera molto lunga con cui si può formare qualsiasi voicing

### 5/5 — Awesome app...

*2026-05-23*

I got this reverse chord finder app as a bundle with SongSheetPro. They are both superb best in class in my opinion.

### 5/5 — I use it A LOT

*2025-12-10*

I read that other review that said it didn't find a certain guitar chord but i only use it for piano and for piano it's great.

### 5/5 — Good App Mate!

*2025-08-01, version 2025.2*

Very useful in a snap.

### 5/5 — Sean

*2025-01-09*

I use reverse chord finder almost as a notebook and can try out ideas in situations when I don’t have a guitar with me , it’s also a very handy tool when you don’t know or can’t remember the name of a particular chord .

### 5/5 — It does exactly what you want without any problems

*2024-12-20, version 2024.10*

Great app if trying to learn chords

### 5/5 — Great App

*2024-10-18*

Simple to use!
Names the chord, which inversion it is, and states the missing notes of the chord - all the essential info. Great stuff.

### 5/5 — No sound

*2024-10-06*

This would be the best app for look and navigation except the sound, though activated, doesn't play at all. Big sigh.

Update: Developer responded well and fixed the sound. Excellent!

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback! Can you please try the newest version of the app; sound should be fixed now!

### 5/5 — Grossartige App

*2024-09-06*

5 Sterne glatt.
Es grüsst ein zufriedener Kunde.
