It starts in English. When I was viewing the transcript there were things that I never said being relayed back in the transcript. When following the instructions, it says it's enabled and later in the day it's having issues again. I don't understand what's going wrong, I want this beautiful app to work so bad! **Developer response:** We identified a Safari extension bug and have yet to find a resolution with Apple. Thanks for your patience. ### 2/5 — Interesting idea, poorly executed *2024-03-28* I would love for this to work. However only a small portion of websites I visit in Safari or screenshots I take seem to get imported into the app. And there’s no way to manually import anything. It just decides not to work sometimes and doesn’t give you any feedback as to what’s going on under the hood. I even tried to manually activate the extension in safari but that doesn’t seem to do anything. It also does not expose any extensions to iOS. Seems like it would be fairly obvious that after parsing the screenshots it would expose that to the iOS system search functionality. Rewind is a cool idea, but it’s not particularly useful in its current form. Yay for not requiring an account setup or subscription payments though, I do appreciate that it just does its thing without any of that hassle. **Developer response:** Thanks for the honest feedback. Only working in Safari is not useful at all. Should cover all apps as the MacOS Rewind! Should also have an option to sync and combine between devices. Ideally P2P, to the MacOS APP, to avoid privacy compromises. ### 4/5 — Works better recently but still sometimes crashes and misses content *2024-03-07* Great idea. That’s likely on Apple. This app is incredible when it’s working. Right now it’s not. Every query is met with “I dont have any data” but I can see all the screenshots it has gathered. I really don’t want to give up because I find Rewind to be incredibly useful. But I’m afraid I’ll have to look elsewhere at this point. Later, I search in Rewind for "balatro". 0 results. So, not only no OCR but… not even visited URLs are searchable. Broken? ### 2/5 — Good concept if ot worked *2024-02-04, version 2024.2* It is a good concept but it doesn't work, also it's incredibly tiresome to pay another subscription for something that isn't working properly on all my devices. There should be a lifetime offer as current LLMs become cheaper to run/maintain. It has historically been a great app but now it crashes consistently about 10 seconds after opening the app. This makes it nearly impossible to find what you are looking for before it crashes and you have to start over again. Simply doesn’t work. ### 1/5 — No easy way to browse/export recordings. Gotta spend hours scrolling through months of history. *2025-02-06, version 2024.2* I've been using Rewind on desktop to record meetings and also do my own vocal note-taking for months. I'd been really happy with the desktop app and its dedicated Meetings view for browsing past recordings, so I started using the iOS app to do recordings as well. I didn't immediately do anything with my iOS recordings when I was done recording them because I figured it'd work the same way as the desktop app, and that once I'd found a spare moment I'd just go through it and archive everything. But—surprise!—there isn't a dedicated Meetings view, or any other tools to filter only your recordings/transcripts. If you don't save them immediately, they'll quickly get buried as you accumulate more history, and there is no easy way to resurface them without manually scrolling through your entire history and paying close attention so that you don't accidentally scroll past it. Just to emphasize the extent of how inaccessible this is: —There are no views that show only your recordings. —There are no filters you can use to hide all other types of history and only show recordings. —You can't search for recordings with the in-app search browser. It's just an AI that answers questions about websites you've visited. —You can't import recordings into their new app Limitless. —You can't access the recordings through the Files app. —You can't use third party tools to access the recordings, because they've disabled File Sharing. Over the last few days I've been having to set aside some time each day to scroll for hours through literal months of history — which is a lot per day, because of course I'm gonna be using my phone for tons of things each day — to find and manually export each individual recording. And because there's so much to scroll through, I kinda have to scroll fast to get through it in a reasonably timely manner. But the faster you scroll, the more likely you'll accidentally scroll past a recording. They're not even very visually distinct — their bright blue color is identical to that of Safari's (aka the literal most used app on iOS), and the button label changes from Open Safari to Summarize. It happens so quick — less than a second most of the time — that you'll likely barely notice it before you're long past it. I'm sure there's several recordings I've missed, and there's literally no way to tell for sure... except to repeat the process all over again. I'm gonna be real, it's such an obvious thing to include that I legitimately could not comprehend such a baffling omission of such a basic UX feature. It legitimately defies logic. Customer service didn't have any answers for me. No judgment of them, they were just doing their job, prolly have zero control over developer priorities, and they were curt but polite. But they couldn't help me. They confirmed that I wasn't missing anything and there was no way to do what I needed the app to do. On top of that, they told me that Rewind was no longer being actively developed, and encouraged me to transition to Limitless. Perhaps I would... if it could import my data from Rewind… and if I had some degree of trust that I wouldn't risk running into another situation like this where I feel completely abandoned by them, with little hope for help. But if by some small chance a dev is paying attention... I'm begging you, please enable File Sharing so I can extract the files myself. afaik it only involves flipping a key and defining a variable, so I'm hoping it wouldn't take too much of your time, and it would make it easier for me to migrate to Limitless. If y'all decide it's not possible or not worth your time... then I'm not sure I can trust that the company won't leave me stranded in a future situation where I have to spend hours diving into a haystack to hunt down and hopefully catch a few needles of data. ### 1/5 — Not supported anymore *2025-01-08* This app is not supported anymore, hasn’t been updated in a year and crashes everytime ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work at all for me. No support. *2024-12-23* UPDATE: December 2024 About every 3 months I reinstall this hoping that the bugs will have been fixed. Yet again, it’s useless. It claims that there are no screenshots when I can easily verify that there are, both in the photos app and in Rewind itself ————————- I love the idea of Rewind AI and very much want it to work. There have been moments where worked but it consistently degrades and stops working. I give up. There are much more reliable ways to do what Rewind promises to do. Lying developers make malware. **Developer response:** I'm sorry we let you down! As a note, the Ask Rewind and our meeting summarization are optional features and do require text data to be sent outside your local device. We do not currently support any local LLM's. For the Rewind iOS app specifically, we do not have any option to delete select / old entries. The only option right now would be to delete the whole Rewind iOS app. ### 1/5 — Started off great, now a useless app *2024-08-02* I was happy paying for the Rewind subscription when it started, but then one problem after another arose. They got an astounding number of subscribers but were clearly confused about their business model. They kept changing from Rewind to a useless transformation called Limitless, which removed all the useful features. Now, there is a promised hardware called Pendant for which you have to pay in advance to queue up, only to find that the costs have doubled because they imposed additional charges that were not indicated in advance. It's a completely nontransparent team that has lost its goals and is now solely focused on milking people through costly subscriptions rather than delivering a good product. This is a typical example of "too fast, too soon" and greed taking over their vision **Developer response:** Thanks for your honest feedback. However, I often face a challenge: I tend to forget the content of my previous screenshots. So, when I need specific information again, I usually revert to searching for it at the original source, as the idea of scrolling through my screenshots rarely crosses my mind. A suggestion I have, and this is just a thought from a regular user, not an expert: what if the app could automatically generate a brief summary or memo for each screenshot using AI?
