Handwriting is more than a skill. It's your signature, a birthday card, a form filled in without asking for help — small acts of independence that a stroke or neurological condition can quietly take away. ReWrite lets you practise it again, one stroke at a time, calmly and at your own pace, at home. It guides your hand from single letters to words to whole sentences, with on-screen stroke-order prompts and real vocabulary in your own language — never translated menus. ReWrite is made for adults relearning to write after stroke, brain injury, MS, Parkinson's and other neurological conditions. It isn't a children's penmanship app. WHY WE BUILT IT ReWrite was made by a family living with the effects of a stroke. When someone we love had to relearn a skill they'd had all their life, we wanted something patient, encouraging and available in our own language. So we built it — in the UK, for adults rebuilding what illness or injury took, and for the people who care for them. The whole app is translated — the exercises, the words and sentences, Word Builder, the printable worksheets and the progress report — which brings it to twenty languages. ### 1.0.35 — 2026-08-16 ReWrite is now called ReWrite: Adult Handwriting — same app, same purchase, clearer about who it is for. Your Progress and your report now show size across the line. Handwriting that shrinks as a line goes on is the pattern behind micrographia, and until now nothing in the app could see it — the score only knew how big a letter was, not whether the letters were fading away by the end of the word. It is measured against the printed model, so it is not thrown off by whether you write large or small. Nothing is shown until there is enough writing to be sure of. BIG Practice is now called Large Letter Practice, and BIG Mode is Large Letter Mode; the exercise itself is unchanged. ### 1.0.34 — 2026-08-15 Your Progress now shows your saved writing samples with their dates, and its chart uses the same score bands as the rest of the app. Your progress report is redesigned: an at-a-glance summary, a chart with labelled axes and your first-week average as a baseline, every number explained in plain words — and, over time, a before-and-after sample of your writing, stored only on your device. Also new: printable tracing worksheets with your own items, your own words practised from memory, words read aloud offline, an optional warm-up, a record of which hand you used, adjustable text size, left-handed controls, and backup. If you're updating from an earlier version, this also brings the previous release: truer letter shapes, an optional joined-up (cursive) style, Word Builder's write-from-memory step, and the choice of when results appear. ### 1.0.31 — 2026-08-13 Word Builder no longer shows an English hint when you're working in another language.
