A BETTER RHYMING DICTIONARY

Most rhyming dictionaries are a fixed list. This one stores how 87,000 words are pronounced and works the rhymes out as you type, so it finds rhymes the lists don't have:

• Two-word rhymes: "orange" gives you "door hinge"
• Phrases both ways: "chew it" finds "do it"
• Accent rhymes: pin/pen, dropped g, non-rhotic r, Southern drawl
• Weak endings: "created" and "defeated"
• Sung stress: "hello" meets "yellow" as well as "go"
• Ten kinds of rhyme in all
• 87,000 words, including emoji, ramen, tiktok, rizz

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.2 — 2026-10-26

Words with two pronunciations now let you pick one. Type “wind”, “read” or “tear” and choose between them under the heading, so you get the rhymes for the word you meant.

Better rhymes from how people really sing: “them” as ’em (come, from, some), “sure” with “were”, “homage” with “mirage”. Rhyme lists also skip nonsense words like zyme and disme, and no longer offer words for nationalities, religions or identities.

On a Mac in full screen or an iPad on its side, the results now sit in the middle of the window under the search bar. And long lists scroll smoothly.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-10-24

Scrolling through a long list of rhymes is smooth now. Words no longer stop to check the system dictionary as they come on screen; that waits until you open a word’s menu.

### 1.2 — 2026-10-24

Every gesture has a feel now: a tick for each line of the boot log, a tap when you keep a word, a bump when the list snaps to a group, a soft tick when the meaning card turns its page. A "haptics" switch in settings turns them off.

Typing is quicker. The search waits for you to pause, runs once, and shows the perfect rhymes the moment they're ready; the rhyme engine itself is four times faster.

### 1.1 — 2026-10-23

Double-tap any word for its definition, and swipe for synonyms and antonyms. A dictionary and thesaurus are built into the app, no network needed. Tap a synonym to rhyme it.

Grab the scroll bar and the list jumps between kinds of rhyme.

Hello rhymes with yellow, and hundreds of other words gained the way they're sung.

The app opens black or white to match light and dark mode until you pick a theme.

On the Mac, select a word in any app and press Shift-Command-R for a floating panel of its rhymes.

### 1.0 — 2026-10-22
