He has helped me understand my instrument and my love for it in completely new ways. I’ve known how to PLAY music for quite awhile, but every day spent with JP has shown me that I still have so much more to learn. Consume everything this dude puts out and you will become a drummer. I am tempted to get a large monitor and position it in front of the drum kit for teaching. The only downside for me is reading while lines are progressing and having to go back to the top. I am reconciling it as ‘think of it as observing a repeat sign.’ The flexibility of the app is fantastic! ### 5/5 — Sight Reading *2025-09-10* I absolutely cannot believe how much I learned over the course of the 80 day summer reading challenge. Using rhythm bot I learned more in 80 days about how to read music than I did throughout all of my junior high school and high school years of studying and reading music. This tool is the most incredible and innovative developed method in learning how to effectively sight read very complex music in an extraordinarily short time! I’ve been playing drums for a long time and never really got my reading of drum notation to this level. I look forward to using it every day. I’ve also started to transcribe the rhythms which is a whole other aspect of learning. I cannot recommend this app enough. And JP’s website is top notch learning. Recently, I joined a big band and I need to sight read crazy rhythms at crazy tempos to keep up with the horns. This app paired with the music reading course has been a game changer. I’m glad this app is also available with the challenges, gamifying learning and learning little by little. I’d highly recommend this app to musicians on all instruments. ### 5/5 — Swing Feature *2025-06-28* This app is a wonderful metronome utility with a lot of really cool features. One of my favorite features is the swing continuum, which gives the user the ability to alter the amount of swing a rhythm has. As a drummer, I’ve found it so helpful when trying to capture the nuances of uneven eighth patterns like some traditional Samba feels or Dilla time. ### 5/5 — Great app *2025-06-25* Well spent money, this app is great, the guy behind it knows the business, I’m a huge fan. But all around very useful and more worth the money than any other metronome app out there, even using free it’s better than all other metronome apps that lock straight forward features behind paywalls. Like subdivisions etc. good game as well to play when bored to improve sight reading. Also I think the adding accents and removing beats feature isn’t working quite right on the metronome. Other than that the random beat generator thing is very good for practicing art of bop style comping and sight reading. This app is very much worth the price! ### 5/5 — Ted Reeds fuming rn *2026-05-24* This app, with premium (which is only a single payment of 5 bucks) pretty comfortably stumps every single one I’ve used or heard of. I used to use PolyNome before buying this, and though that app does a few things this doesn’t like creating custom rhythms and applying drumsets sounds to each note, and being able to change the metronome sounds (JP please add these), this has the necessities, and of course the random rhythm generator, which is stupid useful for anyone who needs to sightread or learn charts quickly.
