## What is Rhythmic dictation trainer?

Whatever your current level is, anywhere from beginner to expert, this application facilitates training for an important part of musical education: rhythmic musical dictation. By listening to randomly generated melodies and reproducing their rhythm using the rhythmic blocks you chose to practice, you'll get better and work your way up to more rhythmic elements, longer sequences and higher tempo, making you a better musician!

For beginners, including young children, you will select a few elements only (for example: quarter note, half note and half rest), then add other ones, one at a time, only when the success rate at this level is high enough.

More experienced users, including intermediate and advanced musical students, will choose to include more complex rhythmic elements.

You can customize which blocks you want to practice and the frequency at which they occur. Some rhythmic elements are giving you more trouble than others and you want to practice them a lot? Set them to come up very often and you're good to go! You can thus fully personalize your training.

In case you need help with figuring out a particular melody, switch to help mode. You can then play each measure you wrote and compare it to the original melody, which is an incredible learning tool allowing you to grasp even the most subtle nuances between the different rhythmic elements.

Merci tres bien

### 5/5 — Super appli

*2024-06-17*

Fluide et facile de prise en main

### 5/5 — Excellent Rhythm Trainer

*2024-01-24*

I love this rhythm trainer. The only suggestion I would make is to provide monotone sound like is used in the app "Beatly"

### 1/5 — Imagine utiliser cette application

*2023-10-25, version 4.3*

Cette application ne marche absolument pas, paye pas 7$ pour ça

### 1/5 — So frustrating

*2022-11-25*

This app is a waste of money. Dragging notes doesn’t always work and it would be much easier to just tap on the patterns I want. I hate having to carefully try to drag a note, drop it in the right spot, and have nothing happen. I can’t even select a time signature. Ugh.

**Developer response:** Hi Videlia. It is the first complaint we get about any trouble dragging & dropping notes. We will definitely add it to the to-do list if we get more users mentioning it. We could, for example, add tapping the note, then its destination, as an alternate way of moving the elements.

As for the time signature, it can be selected on the Options page.

We are sorry that the app wasn’t useful to you, but we thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. It is how we get better, as many of the improvements the app saw over the years came from user experience and suggestions.

### 1/5 — Really annoying

*2021-01-01*

Cant add or remove notes while listening. Very basic note values. 🤦‍♂️

**Developer response:** Hi Noah. The fact that you can't add or remove notes while listening to the melody is actually a request from the music education specialists consulted in the development of this application. The goal is for the student to get better at interiorizing the melody, not at rushing to fill the staff before the next rhythmic element is played. Rhythmic dictation enhances concentration, memory, and attentive listening, and being able to write the melody as it plays would hinder the development of these abilities.

Regarding the note values, a picture showing all 33 available rhythmic elements is shown on the application's page on the App Store, before you buy. We are sorry that these weren't enough for you. More are added over time as requests from users are received. We would be glad to hear your suggestions. You can contact us via the application's page on the App Store.

### 1/5 — Didn’t work. Couldn’t figure it out don’t waste your money deleted it within 10 minutes

*2019-12-16*

Deleted in 10 minutes. Luckily I didn’t waste too much

When I tried to get a refund they refused

**Developer response:** Hi DrLou,

When you tap the "Play" button, a melody is played (make sure your volume is turned up). Your goal is then to drag the various rhythmic elements (quarter note, half note, triplet, etc) on the lines, in the right order, to match the song that was played. Tapping the "Verify" button will check your answer to tell you how you did, and offer help if you made a mistake somewhere. Basically, aside from many customization options, that's all there is to it. The tutorial included into the application may help by guiding you through your first melody.

In spite of the application's low cost, it is always frustrating to spend money and not get what you expect. As a developer, you never want one of your users to feel that way. I'm really here to help. In our support email exchanges, you never said what was wrong. My offer to guide you through the app, step by step, is still valid, and I hope you write back, explaining at what point of the process (playing the song? moving the rhythmic elements? verifying your answer?) you need help. I'll be there to help you.

Note that as I said in our email exchanges, I cannot, as the developer, issue you a refund since the transaction isn't between us, it is between Apple and you. You have to ask Apple for the refund: look into the Apple Support pages, to which I gave you a direct "Request a refund" link by email.

### 4/5 — Good and accurate

*2019-11-03*

Good app to test your skills identifying rhythm. It would be more challenging if it also tested your ability to identify intervals, aka if the dictation tested not just rhythmic values but also notes. A grading system would be good to measure one’s progress. Overall it’s a useful app though.

### 5/5 — Mode d’emploi svp

*2019-10-10*

### 5/5 — Great app for rhythmic dictation

*2019-09-01*

I found this app after I bought one that didn’t work. This app does every I need. I can set the time signature, the number of measures, the note values, rests, etc. Thank you for this app!
