A faff going through an App, intrusive questions - requiring a photo to order food - really?? This is not at all what I would have expected or wanted as an experience. Staff have all been lovely, but I doubt this is what they would have expected when working for Rick Stein, we will see if the food is any good - but sadly this appears to be nothing more than a cafe trading off a name. The menu did not reflect the menu in the restaurant and basics such as bread rolls were not available. When this was mentioned to a female member of staff she was dismissive, unhelpful and quite abrupt! The most unsocial way to order food & takes away the whole experience of eating out!! They say it’s cos of Covid…..yet they bring all the food & drinks to your table whilst stopping to talk. So why can’t they just take your order to save all this hassle with everyone on their phones whilst out at dinner. It has taken us over an hour to order supper for 4 - significantly longer if you include the time it took to book the table, and throughout the whole time tables have sat empty. The staff are welcoming but the process to order is a long winded nightmare. The experience of popping in for a nice fish & chips (total time c. 30 minutes) which we have done very happily many times before has been replaced by a completely bizarre, slow, and unhelpful process that will inevitably mean that we shall come less often in the future. One can only assume that the savings in staff costs suit the business owners. There is nothing wrong with that per se but as a previously happy customer over many years it is a great shame! ### 1/5 — What happened to go old fashioned personal service? *2022-04-22, version 4.8.8* We have akready wasred 30 mins downloadibg apps and trying to work out how to order. What happened to a warm fruendly welcome and custoner service? Really painful ordering experience.
