### 1/5 — Overcharged

*2020-01-13, version 5.1.9*

Charged me $30 on a $10 ride, and locked me out of the app saying I owed $15

### 1/5 — Sent Male Driver in Female Driver Mode

*2019-12-21, version 5.1.9*

Unbelievable. They charged me $5 twice to cancel the male drivers that they scheduled for my pick up while I was in female driver mode on app. They will not discuss this with me. Customer Support will not contact me. The reason I went to female driver mode is because of the last experience that I had with their male driver. Horrible! Scary!

### 3/5 — Pretty good app

*2019-12-14, version 5.1.9*

Doesn’t recognize airport addresses very well or provide a guaranteed fare (very important to me) and wait time is slight longer, but my cost was pretty close to the estimate (in little or no traffic) and was less than both Uber and Lyft.

### 1/5 — Sadly, no longer reliable

*2019-12-10, version 5.1.9*

RideAustin used to be great. I liked that it was a local coop, rather than a predatory corporation. But my last four rides have all had problems. Drivers claiming that they were waiting, when they weren’t. Drivers accepting the rides and then just not coming to pick me up. Drivers trying to up charge me. I’m done.

### 1/5 — Drivers aren’t held accountable

*2019-10-06, version 5.1.7*

Driver picked up my ride, then obviously abandoned it and started driving in the opposite direction. My options were to cancel and pay him 5$ or to use another ride app. Couldn’t rate driver as he didn’t pick me up.

### 5/5 — Cheaper than the competitors and better for drivers

*2019-09-07, version 5.1.3*

I like the app. The fares are reasonable and Ride Austin has more integrity than other ride apps.

### 5/5 — Great driver

*2019-09-05, version 5.1.3*

Polite and appropriately chatty. We made good time.

### 5/5 — Best ride share

*2019-08-17, version 5.1.3*

Best ride share in Austin that cares about riders and drivers.

### 1/5 — DC Fails

*2019-08-05, version 5.1.2*

When I use direct connect, the app erases the pickup and destination locations. For pickup it changes my entered location which had comments, and used gps, I think. One time gps was wrong and the pickup was several blocks away. For the destination, it is blanked out, entirely.

### 5/5 — Saturday night

*2019-08-03, version 5.1.2*

Fast service but initially did not locate us in the exact location for pick up.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2024-10-11, version 5.2.0*

Could not register, so the app was unusable to me.

### 1/5 — Loved ride Austin but they shut it down. Time to pull this app!

*2024-01-03, version 5.2.0*

Ralston was great and fair for the drivers. Unfortunately Lyft, an Uber are taking so much of the profits. It’s not worthwhile for drivers anymore. Unfortunately with RideAustin gone there are no other options.

Please remove the app from the App Store unless you’re starting up again

### 1/5 — Unable to sign up - Oops 🙊

*2023-10-07, version 5.2.0*

Like other reviewers stated, I was unable to sign up for my upcoming trip to Austin, TX. I tried with two email addresses and phone numbers and just get a dialogue that reads "Oops" (error 5.2.0) upon submission of my account details. I also tried resetting my password - thinking maybe the submissions were accepted. Nope - same "Oops" dialogue. Bummer. 😔 Thankfully, I’m a Lyft user and it looks like Lyft is available in Austin.

### 1/5 — “Enable Booking Female Drivers” feature is sexist.

*2023-06-09, version 5.2.0*

How about “ensure English-speaking drivers?”

### 1/5 — Oops

*2023-04-02, version 5.2.0*

Apps does not let me sign in or sign up. Just says oops

### 1/5 — Sign up not possible

*2022-10-19, version 5.2.0*

Extremely buggy unsupported app. I’m for their cause but Apple need to remove apps this unstable.

Ref. Error 5.2.0 on signup, not corrected for more than 4 days.

### 1/5 — Cannot create account to even try the app

*2021-06-08, version 5.2.0*

Was hoping to use this for a ride to the airport but I cannot even sign up. After entering my info I get an error message along with the version of the app.

### 1/5 — Can’t even use the app

*2021-04-24, version 5.2.0*

There’s been an error message with the app for so long, why hasn’t it been fixed ?

### 1/5 — Can’t even create an account

*2021-03-17, version 5.2.0*

Can’t even create an account to check it out. No matter how I try to create an account i get an error 5.2.0 I guess I get to take lyft and Uber while I’m in Austin

### 1/5 — Horrible morning service

*2020-03-06, version 5.2.0*

The driver arrival time is actually twice as long or more than the estimated arrival time. Your ride will get cancelled and the wait time starts all over again with no warning or reason. Driver estimated a 19 minute arrival, after 10 minutes he was still in the same spot at the airport and the wait time still said 19 min, and 19 minutes was not even a realistic time to begin with. This has happened more than once. I reported problems previously with unannounced cancellations and changes of drivers and wait times. Never heard back. Do not use this service if you need to be anywhere on time.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The best, I recommend to all my friends

*2020-02-26, version 5.1.9*

Uber & Lyft lost me when they got their panties in a wad over fingerprinting their drivers. Ride Austin stepped up, is a local non-profit, with your permission rounds up your fare to a charity of your choice, and I haven’t yet stepped into a sketchy car with a sketchier driver. If I wanted that, I’d use Uber or Lyft. Don’t waste your money on any of the other snotty ride shares. Let the out of towners use them.

### 5/5 — Glad we tried RideAustin.

*2020-02-23, version 5.1.9*

Last night when we told our son that we would Taxi from the airport he suggested RideAustin. We got the app and everything went well. We will use RideAustin several times during this stay and for future stays.

### 5/5 — Santa!

*2020-01-23, version 5.1.9*

Very nice man... who looks and acts like Santa 👍🏼😀1000% satisfied

### 5/5 — Mr peter greenberg

*2020-01-06, version 5.1.9*

Very personable helpful all the qualities you want in a driver.

### 5/5 — Support Local Business

*2019-11-08, version 5.1.8*

I’ve used this app a couple times now and it works on par with other major ride share apps, which is actually saying a lot. There are a few bugs, but it’s overall a great app experience. The service is great as well, but that’s a separate thing to review altogether.

### 5/5 — First time rider

*2019-10-20, version 5.1.7*

Anneli was fantastic. I love Ride AUSTIN.

### 5/5 — Much better than Uber and lyft because it’s cheaper, safer and all money goes to drivers .

*2019-10-17, version 5.1.7*

Much better than Uber and lyft because it’s cheaper, safer and all money goes to drivers .

### 5/5 — Good driver

*2019-10-01, version 5.1.7*

He found me where I was (I had wrong address) and delivered me on time. Good driver.

### 5/5 — Awesome driver!

*2019-10-01, version 5.1.7*

Love Ride Austin! And my driver was amazing and very patient. So friendly

### 5/5 — Half the price of Lyft

*2019-09-17, version 5.1.4*

I arrived at the airport around midnight. When I went to my lyft app to get a ride it was going to be $42 for a ride home (my ride there a week before was considerably less) I decided to explore my options and downloaded the Ride Austin app. My ride home cost $21 - I waited a tad longer for my ride to pick me up but definitely didn’t mind waiting for a few extra moments to save $20. They are also donating proceeds to some excellent non-profits and the drivers pocket nearly all the fare. I feel much better about supporting a business that supports it’s community and it’s workers. I’m choosing Ride Austin for my next trip
