Mechanics: The game premise is fantastic with a solid core loop. (1) Avoid fish to get as deep as you can, (2) catch fish on your way back up, (3) shoot fish out of the air to get cash, (4) upgrade your equipment to help you get deeper. Plot: There is very little here. Focus is definitely on the loop of fishing. There is a bit of fluff that gave me high hopes initially, but ultimately didn't deliver -- such as "BikBok," a social media in-game app that clues you into some of the other fishers in the world. Devs, you could make a whole subplot here to reward paying attention! As it is, reading the few in-game posts and comments didn't enhance my experience. Length: I wanted much, much more here. Daily and challenge modes don't have much in terms of incentivized progression, so once the main story is done, it feels natural to simply put the game away. That's a bummer because the mechanics are very fun. More islands, deeper max depths, rare fish that don't depend on obscure conditions. This could easily double as an optional "collectible fish game" that rewards campaign progression. As it is, it feels like collecting is a time-waster rather than a core premise of the game. Final Thoughts: Very fun game with a short, almost transient feel. Fly fishing level 42 is impossible due to an rng bug (I genuinely wasted an hour trying to get passed it before googling it and seeing forums of other angry and frustrated players dating all the way back to like 6-8 months ago) not all specific species of fish will spawn even when all requirements are met like “Swimming Moth Man” making it near impossible to complete the fishopedia and plenty of other bugs that make the main game and fly fishing side game extremely difficult if not impossible. It has so many bugs particularly in fly fishing. I’ve tried to email the developers and talk about the issues on reddit boards that the developers sometimes check… but it’s been months of bugs and issues with no real fixes. Many players are stuck on levels of fly fishing with bugs that prevent progress. I’m about ready to give up & cancel my Apple Arcade subscription. ### 1/5 — So Many Bugs *2025-06-05* There are so many bugs in this new update it’s not worth playing this game anymore. Which is a pity because it’s a great game when it functions. Level #42 of fly fishing has a bug that was patched but it back. Roulette function doesn’t work which makes certain levels impossible. If you play more than one game via saved games, you lose your progress on fly fishing. I was up to #108 on one game and played a new game then went back to my initial game and all progress was lost. I’ve tried emailing the developers in the past and never had a response. They keep saying they’ve patched or there’s a new update but the same problems keep reoccurring. This is my favourite game but I’m ready to cancel my Apple Arcade subscription and quit the game. The amount of bugs in the last update make game play impossible. **Developer response:** Hello!
