### 4/5 — Abandoned, or just late?

*2025-01-27, version 2.911*

For over a year now, this app and its companion have been left unattended. It doesn’t work properly with Logic Pro and the promised Midi In has not appeared. I understand that the dev has been busy IRL, and everyone needs to make a living, but all the same it’s a disappointment that what was such a fantastic app is not even being maintained, and e-mails go unanswered.

### 4/5 — One year later…

*2024-12-20*

For almost a year now, this app and its companion have been left unattended. It doesn’t work properly with Logic Pro and the promised Midi In has not appeared. I understand that the dev has been busy IRL, and everyone needs to make a living, but all the same it’s a disappointment that what was such a fantastic app is not even being maintained, and e-mails go unanswered.

### 4/5 — Why are my reviews not showing up?

*2024-11-15*

Riffler began as a fantastic, almost game changing app, with frequent updates and a very responsive dev. But for almost a year now, it’s been left unattended. It doesn’t work properly with Logic Pro and the promised Midi In has not appeared. I understand that the dev has been busy IRL, and everyone needs to make a living, but all the same it’s a disappointment that such a good app is not even being maintained sufficiently, and e-mails go unanswered.

### 4/5 — Excellent, but needs update

*2024-10-21*

Very good app, but neglected for 10 months now. An update is urgently needed. In particular to achieve compatibility with Logic Pro, and the addition of midi in. Riffler assists creativity rather than replacing it like AI. Put in a bit of effort, edit what comes out in a unique way and the result can be authentic.

### 4/5 — Could be better

*2024-09-19, version 2.911*

For now i will rate 4star, will give 5 when features like hammer, slides, harmonics, strum patterns and ability to export as guitar pro files are added....

### 4/5 — First class app, needs update

*2024-09-18*

It’s now 9 months since this app was updated. Because the developer was busy doing life (working) and putting development time into the desktop version. Hopefully, there will soon be time to give this app its much needed update. Riffler assists creativity rather than replacing it like AI. Put in a bit of effort, edit what comes out in a unique way and the result can be authentic.

### 4/5 — Great sounds, but no MIDI in

*2024-09-08*

Great riffs, and a great guitar sound - so good I’d like to use it as a sound generator for custom MIDI blocks. Unfortunately this can’t be achieved as the internal sequencer can’t be disabled.

A sad limitation on what could be an absolute must-have app.

### 4/5 — Some weird options/settings. Overall game changer!

*2024-06-27*

Some of the controls for the app lead me to assume this is one of those desktop apps that really shouldn’t be on an iOS cell phone lol. But I’m still glad it’s here! I just fear it’s a little too much for our phones to handle. Besides some of the wacky controls and the weird file type that doesn’t work with any 3rd party stuff basically, I think it’s totally an awesome tool for writing! Or even tabbing your favorite songs. Wish you could get it to drop the act and flat do whole 3.5 min plus songs though lol

### 4/5 — MIDI IFFY AT BEST

*2024-04-04*

This is a huge amount of fun. It’s lacking a few of the exotic guitar-esque techniques, but so are most rhythm guitar parts. Dive into the tweaks and it can get very believable. I’d give it five stars but the export MIDI function is unusable, at least for me. Export anywhere but local is a fail (OneDrive, Dropbox). Local to email to get it out works, however the MIDI data opens up at max velocity, and only as a monophonic line - that is, no chords transfer to MIDI. Fix that and it’s six stars for the fun factor. Haven’t tried wired MIDI out yet. If that works it’s a bonus even if it is a hassle.

### 4/5 — Midi in???

*2024-03-15*

It was said, that Riffler would get midi in (January?) but it didn't happen so far ☹️

### 4/5 — Good for inspiration

*2024-01-21*

I couldn’t find an option for to export tab as txt file.
It can be useful.

### 5/5 — I forgot to give it five stars but deserves more

*2023-12-11*

Wesome

### 5/5 — Amazed

*2023-12-11, version 2.89*

I ave been playing guitar for over forty years and despite making my living from it for the last ten or so, I still find myself limited by a tendency to be stuck in a rut whereby I play the same thing over and over. This app gives me the ability to break out of that. You can guide it to here you want to be after finding an interesting preset and then play the part that you come up with. The tones option gives you so much useful options that you may not need to. I ometimes get a better result after running the clean drystone through an amp sim but he results straight from RIFFLER sound great in a mix.
I am using DRAMBO synced via Ableton link to Blocs Wave and it is stunning together. No sync issues and incredibly fast results. I have Ableton and Studio one on a Pc but now Bly use that for mixing and finishing tracks. Blocs Wave is the most inspiring app that I have ever used and RIFFLER takes it up to another level. The best money I have ever spent on music tech. Get Riffler and a few packs from the Blocs library then buy an old iPad Air 2 or a en 5 or later and for around £100 you will ave a music creation tool that will blow you mind and will be easy to learn. Hen explore the other inedible and innovative apps on iOS as you go.

### 3/5 — Love/hate relationship with this app

*2023-12-10, version 2.89*

This is one of my favorite apps, but I don’t understand why loading a saved riff does not repopulate the Lock Parameter buttons. This is a huge blocker for me, since manipulation of the locked parameters is vital for generating the type of riff you want easily and repeatedly. Add this feature, and I’d call Riffler a perfect app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — MIDI

*2026-01-22*

Привет, очень не хватает управления тональностью по миди в реальном времени

### 1/5 — Does not work in Logic Pro?

*2024-10-08*

I bought this to use in Logic Pro for the IPad but quickly realised that to get the created riff into LP as a moveable section (As Riffler just plays constantly over the top of everything??) then I’d need to export the audio and re-import it as an audio track (What a messing around!). Then to add further frustration, when exporting the audio, the window that opens inti FILES, just freezes? I’ve waited and waited, rebooted etc, but still the same issue! So as it stands, I cannot use Riffler to add a riff to anything in LP, and its a waste of money until this is fixed

### 1/5 — What happened to midi in?

*2024-08-23, version 2.911*

I bought the two versions of Riffler many months ago when the developers announced that the midi in feature was going to be released shortly. That never happened! I would not have bought them without that feature.

### 1/5 — Un quiero y no puedo

*2024-01-10, version 2.911*

Necesita mejorar mucho.

### 1/5 — Just keeps getting better and better

*2023-09-02*

5 star Reviewed this before but the developer deserves another 5stars for all the fantastic updates.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the review. I'm really pleased you've found so many ways to use Riffler. I had never thought about using it as an ear training tool but, as a former guitar teacher, I can see how useful it could be!

Thanks,

Jon

### 1/5 — Didn’t work for me

*2023-04-03*

I’d like to say good things about this app because the concept is neat. However, for me it locked frequently, was unresponsive and, when it did work, created riffs that all sounded basically the same.

### 1/5 — ABSSOUTELY unaccessible and unusable with VoiceOver

*2022-10-24, version 2.03*

I’ve lost my money! Can’t do absolutely anything with this thing appart from listening to the sound of silence. Very very angry

### 2/5 — Crash

*2024-02-29, version 2.911*

Continui crash con ipad pro 11^ generazione, aggiornare prego altrimenti chiedero il rimborso in dietro dall'acquisto. 😡

### 2/5 — OMG what happened? The guitars sound awful, the layout is a nightmare!

*2022-10-13, version 2.01*

I literally used this app EVERY SINGLE DAY since the day it was released, and besides little hi-cups every update was AMAZING! But I’m begging, pleading that this is NOT what this app has come to? Please please don’t ruin this app… I cannot even begin to understand why this beautiful sounding, easy to use and master, with great (yet small) selection of effects, has somehow become a step WAY back?

May I ask for the folks who LOVED the old riffler can we somehow go back to that version, or can you re-release that version (or better) this version as a whole and completely different app?

Maybe Riffler stays the way it was and make this app Tabbler? Or something ?

I will GLADLY buy the old app again if need be, without any issue!

Please consider, I know without a doubt in my mind, Not one person who loved Riffler, will much like this new release… (just because the guitars sound awful!)

### 3/5 — Where is midi out function?

*2025-06-28*

The dev reduces both Riffler and Riffler flow on a regular basis, which is good. I bought both of my apps at full price, which is ok because they’re pretty good apps but I am really disappointed that the midi out function, which was demoed on YouTube over a year ago still hasn’t been implemented. It’s ok to keep reducing your apps but it’s not ok when you don’t deliver what was essentially promised a long while ago. I would give 5 stars for the app but only 1 star for support so overall 3 stars

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — 最高！

*2026-06-25*

とてもいいアプリです！日本語に対応して欲しいです。

### 5/5 — AWSOME BUT DONT ABANDON

*2025-11-03, version 2.911*

THIS IS AN AWSOME concept and app however I ask that you please continue working and improving on the app or develop an even better app! I’d gladly pay for it even if it were a more expensive app like ireal

### 5/5 — So long, have I waited.

*2025-04-03*

So this is the app I’ve been waiting for. It really does put out some amazing riffs. If you’re patient, you will be rewarded. If you’re a guitarist that’s stuck in a rut, this is the inspiration that you need. My only desire is that app be available on windows. It’s so small on my iPhone. Other than that though, amazing start. I see great things for this app. It’s already bangin’ but improve the samples and refine the rules and you’ve got a must have app for every songwriter and guitarist.

### 5/5 — Why not on mac

*2025-03-31, version 2.911*

Riffler flow is available for mac but this app is not for mac , please update for mac , I have a humble request , I emailed many times for its update but no reply, please give me a reply

### 5/5 — Mac please

*2025-03-22*

Mac please like Riffler Flow. Please?

### 5/5 — Good application, but I encountered a problem

*2024-07-04*

Good application, but I encountered a problem. The iPhone screen is too small for comfortable use. I installed the ApowerMirror mirroring program on my computer to control the phone from the computer. When I launch this application, it starts in landscape orientation, but the mouse stays in portrait mode, making it impossible to use from the computer. I also tried other programs, but the problem remained. So it seems that the issue is with the application itself. It would be great if you could fix this.

### 5/5 — Fundamental app

*2024-03-26, version 2.911*

This app produces good hard rock and heavy metal generative riffs and integrates really well with common hosts such as AUM. Good onboard sounds and you can also pair the Clean: Dry preset with an amp app for more metal shenanigans. Recommended for all metalheads 🤟🏻

### 5/5 — Great - Could be the GOAT

*2024-03-26*

More fun than should be legal. Think musically and it makes music. If this is all there was to it it would still get 5 stars for doing it well.
Requests? A squeal along with the bends etc. song mode, and at the moment even if it says it did it, it does not export anything but title to one drive. MIDI export is great if you have some good guitar libraries and some amps. I use Kontakt guitars, Shreddage for velocity triggered squeal and harmonics and Guitar Rig. If you’re not a guitarist this is your non flake guitarist who shows up on time without his girlfriend. If you are a guitarist, what a great practice mate that shows up on time, and without significant other.🤣

### 5/5 — Just AWESOME!!!

*2024-02-19, version 2.911*

This app has a great sounding rock, metal, riffs and it can create many many more.
I play lead and this app is great for creating rythms that challenges an advance player.

It can make new patterns as it plays, and a lot of the patterns are good to awesome, some are not very goog, but workabke with a small editing!!!

It generates patterns with very melodic runs requiring little or no editing at all!, very impressive algorithm!!!!
Great app!!!!

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2024-01-09*

This tool is great.
is there hope for a drum version? drumler?
