### 4/5 — Good game, but I had some problem on M1 MacBook

*2024-06-15, version 1.1.0*

Positive impression about gameplay, sounds and UI.
On an M1 Macbook Air (Monterey) I had a problem with high temperatures in the CPU area. The consequence of this was the iBoot Panic error. I believe the reason is the lack of optimization of the application for systems based on Apple M1.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2023-05-12*

I like that the opponent difficulty can be changed, other apps are lacking this feature.

Would be nice to have a 3 player mode similar to Tenhou Online.

### 5/5 — Perfect Riichi style Mahjong game

*2023-03-03, version 0.10.1*

This game has everything. The models are well made, awesome animations, table flipping, a sleezy 90’s esque sound track. It’s everything I could’ve asked for a mobile Japanese Style Mahjong game

### 5/5 — You can’t ask for much more.

*2023-02-01, version 0.10.1*

Because I haven’t yet had a chance to show monetary support to the developer of this app I thought I should at least review it.

I have encountered no bugs or crashes.

The design and UI is intuitive and works well.

Colour design is subtle and won’t hurt your eyes when staring at the game which I find a great benefit (especially the time spent playing!)

No advertising which in my opinion is a dealbreaker though I wouldn’t mind the option to remove any future ads permanently with a donation fee if the developer wishes, you deserve a payday to continue the development.

-In terms of what I’d like to see added; maybe custom tiles designs, board variations.

-Tournaments and trophies/collectibles for winning.

- additional camera angles in game

- A warning about flipping the table for the first time! XD

Overall, I really like the app and if you like Riichi then you will too :)

### 5/5 — The best in the west

*2021-11-27, version 0.8.1*

I found Richii Mahjong from Akagi. This app is how I learned the game while also getting to understand the hype of Akagi! I have had this app for over two years now and the fact the dev is still updating ever now then is great aslo. Online play is great if you get some friends to play; otherwise not really anyone there.
TLDR: Great for learning the game and offline play. Online; you better have friends or people to play other wise no one as of yet.

### 5/5 — Finally - real version of the game !!

*2021-08-09, version 0.6.1*

This is NOT the matching game but actually the true card-like game. Very user friendly! Rules vary slightly from how we played the game with tiles but still very fun and efficiently moves for the three opponents.

### 4/5 — Almost Perfect

*2021-06-11*

Excellent app. I would prefer the pinch to zoom to stay at the level you zoom, rather than going back to 100% when you release but great otherwise

### 5/5 — Love the game

*2021-04-22, version 0.6.1*

No annoying ads, just so fun.
You can play forever. I love the game!

### 5/5 — The best Japanese style Mahjong game on App for free

*2021-01-21, version 0.5.1*

I have played tons of Mahjong game and real in my 51 years and Wow, this one is it. Get one today. Mahalo and Aloha.

### 5/5 — Great for beginners

*2021-01-10, version 0.5.1*

I spent a good few years trying to learn mahjong online, and this is the best so far.
I used to have another mahjong game i used to play and pay for (single time) on iOS until they removed it from store. I got a new phone so needed a new app on mahjong.

This game actually teaches you how to play, i already had a good grasp of the rules after trial and error (such as when other game wont let you use a move that is not allow) but still was not clear on fruiten, or chombo moves. The game will penalize you if you try doing it. Other games won’t! Learn from mistakes! Best way!!

I guess if i had to nitpick, it will be game sound, but I enjoy it!

### 4/5 — Fun!

*2020-12-31, version 0.5.1*

I’m so glad I found this game online as I really miss my monthly mahjong with friends! When playing with a friend in private however the game keeps kicking me out or quitting on me which is beyond frustrating! I hope that gets fixed and also I hope it will be possible to play with four of us privately instead of the AI . Also we use to play all four winds through ! I’d gladly pay for this ap if those problems are resolved. Fun game regardless, thank you!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — bad

*2024-02-12, version 1.0.1*

this used to be a good app but the powers don't work anymore and there is a bug with it telling you you are in furi ten when you're not

### 1/5 — Textures too low def

*2020-07-06, version 0.4.1*

Simply can't make out half the tiles in discard piles. Kind of a big deal. Weird to have that issue when the presentation in full 3d tries so hard to impress.

### 2/5 — Faulty

*2024-03-29, version 1.1.0*

I have downloaded this game multiple times because it has glitches. I had high games between 8 and 9 million points. But since then the game times out right around 4 million points. The keys stop working and a screen pops up that says ‘couldn’t load the saved game’ and ‘Oh no! The save file did not contain a valid mahjong game.’ ‘Try starting a new game instead.’
I don’t want to keep starting over! Kinda lousy.

### 3/5 — It works but…

*2023-11-30, version 1.0.0*

It’s a bit jank. Too much focus on silly things like table flipping and not enough on UX. My biggest issue is it’s too hard to see tiles, they are too small on the screen and when you zoom, it doesn’t stay zoomed in. Permanent camera control would improve my rating significantly. I do like some things like how setup is shown, double tap to select tile, and the transparent scoring. Ups and downs, i bet this could rival PC/web clients if it it was a bit more focused on usability.

### 3/5 — nice

*2023-10-21, version 0.11.1*

very nice game, but not easy for a beginner to learn the yaku... and a counter for onlinegamers is missing, you dont know if there are players, who wants to play online.
And most important... the ai players are to fast in multiplayer, no time to think

### 3/5 — great buuuuuut

*2021-11-28, version 0.8.1*

Great app, but had problems declaring hands furiten (ex: discarding 6 bamboo early then eventually collecting 7 and 8 and being unable to ron on 9 bamboo despite riichi), as well as not counting a 13 orphans hand as tenpai when only needing a white dragon (with one left not show , not even a dead hand that would be tenpai but unwinnable).

### 3/5 — Clumsy, but good intro to the game

*2021-06-20, version 0.6.1*

“Developed in Unity” at the splash is always a sign of quality! I’m kidding, but the app does a solid job introducing the gameplay and rules of Riichi (Japanese-style) Mahjong. I would recommend iPad only, it’s really hard to even see your whole hand on a phone. Doesn’t harass with ads or other money-grubbing, which is nice.

### 4/5 — Very nice

*2025-08-08, version 1.3.0*

The game is really nice and instructive. The Menu is helping a lot, nice graphic, nice options to be chosen. Only issue, sometimes the Dora calculation seems wrong. Overall very nice and I am very happy to have found this app.

### 4/5 — a

*2025-07-21, version 1.2.0*

Fantastic client for riichi mahjong. I wish the camera zoom had an option to hold the zoom in place with a reset button.

### 4/5 — Presque parfait

*2025-07-18, version 1.2.0*

Les explications des Yaku en français seraient l’apothéose !

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best Mahjong Game

*2025-07-09, version 1.2.0*

Normally I’m not inclined to write reviews for apps but I had to say how great this game is. The developer obviously put a lot of work into making this game as user/beginner accessible and it really helps for learning this specific Mahjong ruleset. Favorite part is the ability to flip the table and everything rag dolls. Great touch!

### 5/5 — PERFECT!

*2025-05-20, version 1.2.0*

A perfect design… so much fun playing this! The AR is awesome.

### 5/5 — Great Mahjong app

*2024-07-04, version 1.2.0*

This is a fantastic Riichi Mahjong app. Great tutorials and game play. Really well designed u/i and very stable. 5/5

### 5/5 — Pure and amazing minimalist Riichi Mahjong.

*2024-05-15, version 1.1.0*

This game has everything you need to practice for fun or even to training your speed hand and yaku memorization. Difficult is well balanced to meet all players level. Also, you can create rooms for online games with your friends.

The best part for me is that you can find all WMC rules and other Riichi variations, chombo allowed, etc.

I’d would suggest only one little thing: put an “one page” illustrated yaku patterns for a fast consultation during game, like a button on the screen (instead of navigating through 2 or 3 menus plus yakus pages and tabs).

So, that’s it. Amazing app. Worth the time spent on this.

### 5/5 — Amazing, Honest App

*2024-05-01, version 1.1.0*

The developer is clearly a lover of riichi Mahjong, as this app is clearly a high quality Labour of love.

Excellent Rulesets and sheets, always accessible at any point in the game or in tutorials, makes it very easy to learn and apply rules.

Excellent and thorough tutorials.

Not a single ad.

Simple and clean interface. It might be a little basic but it’s no frills, everything and every available action is made clear.

Some graphical style. Calling certain game actions is still satisfying, with some nice effects when you get a Ron, or call a chi.

Runs smoothly, and no bugs.

Seamless, easy multiplayer. Creating a match is as simple as creating a room with a name and having others join it by putting in the name of that room. The net code runs smoothly and I never have noticed any bugs.

All this makes the app perfect for learning mahjong as well as just playing it casually with others. As it’s free and easy to set up for multiplayer you can easily convince others to download it for.

### 5/5 — A beautiful app.

*2024-03-07, version 1.0.2*

The computer players have a good level of challenge, the tutorial is well-written, the online multiplayer doesn’t have any active games yet but as the app becomes more popular that will change.

### 5/5 — Great and true to form

*2024-01-14, version 1.0.1*

I was introduced to mahjong through the Yakuza games, and have been hooked since. My only complaint is that they don’t have the markers for Riichi after it’s been called by anyone, but other than that, it’s an absolute comfort game with a bit of risk and a lot of complexity that anyone into intuitive gambling games could appreciate.

### 5/5 — Cool, but please...

*2023-11-28, version 0.11.1*

please add a setting that allows you to hide the display of the best discards for entering tempai and the counting of the remaining winning tiles.
This is, of course, very convenient, but with these tips I will soon forget how to play Richie Mahjong at the table

### 5/5 — True to Japan

*2023-11-06, version 0.11.1*

I’ve played dozens of times in Japan but this was the first app that helped me learn some of the things that had always been lost in translation because as you probably know much of the words are Chinese, even in Japan, so they have a hard time explaining why they score things the way they do. Anyway, just about my favorite app ever.

### 5/5 — Goof game

*2023-07-05, version 0.11.1*

I ron :D
