About

Rilke prepares you for German exams from A1 to B2 — Goethe-Zertifikat, telc and ÖSD. It grades the two skills nobody can mark for themselves, writing and speaking, against the four criteria real examiners use. Everything else works offline, free, without an account. WRITING, GRADED LIKE THE EXAM Write a task, submit it, and get a score with concrete feedback: what costs you points and how to win them back. Exam tasks in the Goethe, telc and ÖSD formats, from the A1 postcard to the B2 opinion piece. Your first correction is free. SPEAKING, WITH A PARTNER Every speaking exam is held in pairs or groups — so the app supplies the partner. Speak your part, hold the dialogue, and be assessed on the same criteria. Pace, pauses and fillers are measured on your device; the assessment follows the exam rubric. LISTENING, PLAYED LIKE THE EXAM Recordings in the real exam parts, played exactly as often as the paper plays them. Some parts twice, some once, with the reading time the exam prints before each one. Afterwards you get the transcript and find the sentence you missed. READING IN THE REAL EXAM PARTS Reading tasks for every part of every level. Practise one part at a time or sit the whole paper under time. Every answer key explains why the answer is right and where in the text it is. GRAMMAR THAT EXPLAINS ITSELF Every topic your level is examined on, with theory and, when you get it wrong, an explanation of the mistake in your own language. Speak your answer instead of typing it. VOCABULARY THAT STICKS Cards with spaced repetition, built from the word lists your level is examined on — including the preposition each verb governs, and example sentences that use it. ONE EXAM DATE, ONE PLAN Enter your exam date and the app organises itself around it: countdown, daily plan, and a readiness score that tells you where you actually stand. In the final week it switches to exam simulation. SHORT SESSIONS, NOT ENDLESS LISTS Ten exercises, twenty cards — sittings you can finish. When one ends you see what is left and decide whether to go on. IN YOUR LANGUAGE Explanations and feedback in 22 languages: English, German, Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish, Arabic, Farsi, Hindi, Urdu, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Romanian, Polish, Serbian, Albanian and Greek. The exam is in German; your thinking does not have to be. OFFLINE BY DESIGN Grammar, reading, listening, vocabulary and the writing editor need no connection at all. Only the AI assessment goes online — work on the train, submit when you have signal. LEARNING GERMAN WITHOUT AN EXAM DATE Grammatik and Wortschatz stand on their own: learn German topic by topic and hold the words with spaced repetition — offline and free, whether or not you ever book an exam. The exam modules wait until you decide. Rilke is an independent product and is not affiliated with the Goethe-Institut, telc gGmbH or ÖSD. All trademarks belong to their respective owners. What's New in Rilke

4.7.2

August 28, 2026

Write, submit, and get your score — without an account. The correction runs for real and the number is yours the moment it lands. Signing in is what opens the written half: why each criterion was marked that way, which mistakes sit where, and how to fix them. It is still one free correction, and it no longer asks who you are before it does anything for you. A writing task can now be taken one content point at a time. Instead of a blank page and a hundred and fifty words, the editor offers the first Leitpunkt with a target of two or three sentences, then the next — all building one continuous text. The whole task stays one tap away at every step. Progress and Wortschatz could get stuck on "loading" and never finish. On installs carried over from an older version the app's own database had been left half-upgraded, silently taking exam readiness, learned vocabulary and your streak with it. It repairs itself on the next start, and no screen waits forever again. Wortschatz lost 103 duplicate cards — the same verb kept appearing two or three times because the case was written differently each time. The theme list knows your level now, so working towards B2 no longer quietly puts you in A1 vocabulary. And the exam's own words stay German where the exam paper uses them: Teil 2, Redemittel, Erfüllung.
