So based on my old feelings I love this game ### 4/5 — great dice combat, but not much else *2014-02-18* Dice combat against enemies is very satisfying. There are three different class skill trees that you can mix and match from, and they all provide unique and satisfying upgrades. But everything else about the game is bad. The game's from 2010 and looks it. There's no Retina iPad support. Everything looks like it's running on an N64. You use a virtual direction pad to move and you have to tap one space at a time to avoid running into enemies. Equipment stats look like a spreadsheet. ### 3/5 — Gut aber mit Abstrichen... *2014-02-07* Die Spielidee hat mich anfangs erst abgeschreckt, dann aber doch in den Bann gezogen. Wenn man etwas Glück mit der Ausrüstung hat, klappt es eigentlich (Reine Schamanin gespielt)... ja, bis auf die letzten 3 Gegner - mit etwas Taktik sind die beiden Optionalen machbar, aber der letzte Endboss passt so garnicht von der Balance her und sorgt für Frust pur (Ich habe im Netz den ein oder anderen gefunden der ihn nach ewigen Versuchen geschafft hat, aber das hat nichts mit Taktik sondern scheinbar ausschließlich rohen Glück zu tun). ### 5/5 — Love it! *2013-03-16* I loved this game. The dice really worked for me. Not just some hack and bash game but required strategy to win! Reminded me of playing D and D. Lots of fun. However once you get well into it, it reaches a point where it's just too hard to be any fun anymore. I'm a old school "girl" gamer and this RPG HAS IT! The graphics are ok but like I said I'm old school and used of the graphics being ok. I liked the dice rolls and its easy to play. Alexis Gears. ### 5/5 — Super turned-Base RPG *2012-08-15* Das Spiel empfehle ich jeden RPG Liebhaber, ich selber stehe ein Ehr auf Action RPGs und Hack'n'Slay aber dennoch mag ich dieses Spiel sehr. Ich unterteile mein Review ein wenig: Grafik 4/5 Sterne Die Grafik ist zwar nicht der Burner, aber mal ehrlich das waren fast noch keine RPGs aus der Vogelperspektive. Das ganze ist etwas im Comic-style gehalten und erinnert ein wenig an Warcraft 3. Sound 4/5 Sterne Eig ist der Sound top, bring eine gute atmosphäre mitsich, aber ich muss ein Stern Abzug geben da die schritt-Geräusche nicht immer korrekt sind. Es ist z.B. Oft so dass bei Stein als Untergrund es sich oft nach Schnee anhört. Gameplay 5/5 Sterne Das ist der wichtigste Punkt für mich. Es passt einfach alles, von der Story bis zum kampfsystem, das evtl. etwas an Dungeons & Dragons erinnert (mit Würfeln). Fazit: Ich Spiele es jetzt seit ca 3std am stück (iPad) und bin einfach begeistert. Ich habe jetzt ca 6 Quests gemacht und es sieht so aus als wäre noch lange kein Ende in Sicht. Also es hat schon einiges an spiele dauer. Kaufen, spielen und Spaß haben. ### 4/5 — Stand-Out RPG *2012-08-09* I was searching for "turn based RPG", trying to find something final fantasy-esque in a platform choking on action RPG's (despite the fact that the interface is never great for that genre). Rimelands came up, and it is definitely not the game I was looking for, but a game I am so glad I found! It's more in the D&D school of gaming, with dungeon crawling and dice-rolling. It is, however, delightfully turn-based and offers excellent gameplay, a good leveling up system, and a great experience. The story is great, if you compare it to it's IOS peers. Compared to the world at large, it's spotty. Enjoyable, but with plenty of gaps. Sometimes you jump from one thing to another with no logical gap, or someone will send you somewhere to do something (Loki Vault) and nothing in particular happens there, plus you don't circle back with the person who sent you. Still, better than its peers. The skill tree is great - small and manageable but full of desireable skills. And those skills, along with "mana" management, provide a great strategic challenge going into battles. Each conflict is a one-off, as you heal immediately after battle, which makes each confrontation exciting (as opposed to the long, drawn out battle of attrition you get in a long dungeon full of weak enemies). Despite the gaps - too many useless items, jumpiness in an otherwise good story, lack of multiple saves despite the inability to backtrack - this is an excellent game and a unique breath of fresh air in the cluttered mass of mediocrity one finds in the app store. ### 4/5 — bon RPG *2012-07-19* Jeu bien sympathique, joli graphiquement et gameplay réussi. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Frustrating *2017-01-19* Auto-saves over player saves, making full exploration of areas impossible & ruining what would otherwise be a good game. ### 1/5 — Tedious *2015-10-11, version 1.31* I don't want to keep repeating one battle ad nauseum because of completely capricious dice rolls. The movement buttons are now next to my earphones jack which makes playing pretty uncomfortable and I can’t switch the screen layout. You get a quest which opens an area, you complete the area to complete the quest, get another quest. Once you have cleared the area, you are not able to visit it again. There is no free roam and, therefore, no ability to level nor find additional gear. All potions and gear can only be scavenged. When you come across the boss you are not prepared for, your game essentially ends. You cannot go back and strengthen or change your character in anyway. РПГ тут куцее, только бонусы развиваем изредка. Шмотки дают кубики и чего-то там к повреждению. Все. The graphics are very beautiful and the setting complex (the Fae, Norse mythology, Steam Punk- see the trifle guys review). Nice music and sound effects, and the dice rolling makes for a very tactile experience. I'm about half way through after a good few hours play. It does get difficult as a magic user (stealth and warrior classes also available), and you really need to think, use strategy, and use everything at your disposal to win the battles. Oh and use the save function.
