They then have an optional fee for a reminder SMS. The 25p mandatory additional fees means this is just ripping you off more. The 10p service fee was acceptable, the booking confirmation I do not need is pure extortion. Local councils should bin Ring Go as quick as possible. Response from RingGo: “Thank you for your feedback regarding the additional fees. We understand your concerns about the service and SMS confirmation charges. A convenience fee is sometimes applied for the added benefits of cashless parking, such as extending your session remotely. The SMS confirmation fee is optional, and you can manage or opt out of these notifications in your account settings. For more details on why these charges appear and how to adjust your SMS preferences," My Update: I have found the setting that they have added since the update. You can disable it but it’s enabled automatically and can’t be turned off at the payment stage. My point still stands as they’ve added this in as a way of boosting revenue and many people will just accept it. This underhand change should be illegal and should have never been allowed. ### 1/5 — Only works with UK mobile number *2026-08-15, version 7.84.0* It doesn’t work even if including “+” and country code in the mobile phone number. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work for non-uk *2026-08-14, version 7.84.0* Why is it that every other country in Europe is able to produce a system that works with non-local numbers, but RingGo cannot, despite years of complaints. Claims that you need to enter the correct country code or call the their phone number are simply false. They don’t work either, including the phone number listed as their own help line. And no, despite what the developer claims, it doesn’t work to enter the international dialing code. I tried 001, 1, and +1. None work. I have 17 parking apps on my phone for countries all over the world. They all work fine. RingGo does not. ### 1/5 — No longer works *2026-08-12, version 7.84.0* This app used to be fine but now it constantly logs you out. Then it tells you to log back in and when you do it says to log back in. Where you’d normally expect a decent number of foreign visitors who probably have foreign phones rather than UK ones. Perhaps the problem is that it requires an SMS and doesn’t seem to contemplate that some people without UK cell phones may need to park while traveling. I entered a non-UK cell phone with country code and never got a registration code. My meter doesn’t accept other apps but with other apps I’ve had the chance to list my country before entering my phone number. ### 1/5 — Frustrating app *2026-08-07, version 7.84.0* The last three times I have tried to park, I have had repeated error notifications when I go to payment. I know my cards/bank accounts are all fine. Sadly it looks like they got worse. Not only did the app failed at resetting my account but it is currently trying to send a SMS to my email. Only sends verification codes via text and texts to US numbers apparently are not going through because we tried as zillion times and never got a code. Of course I immediately got an error message as soon as I tried to either login or register as a new customer. That matches my previous experiences. Beware *2026-08-21, version 7.84.0* I’ve been using RingGo for quite some time and usually have no problems. But RingGo really screwed me over recently. I was in the Islington area, I used RingGo to help me find parking, I click on the “directions” button in the app to help me navigate to the RingGo parking location. I pay for parking and everything seems fine. A month later, I receive a £240 PCN saying I drove through a restricted area!! I’m incredibly angry because if it weren’t for the app telling me where to go, I wouldn’t have driven through this area in the first place! RingGo is refusing to compensate me both for the parking fee I paid and for the penalty charge notice so now I have to pay £250 for RingGos fault. I will be escalating this further as this is incredibly unfair. The app shouldn’t let you drive through a restricted zone so I feel really screwed over and it’s left me feeling very depressed.
