### 2/5 — Needs more features

*2026-09-09*

The latest update makes this worse, on the iPad the app no longer rotates into landscape. Fields overlap. It looks like they have employed some junior programmer on this.

Useful for turning heating on or off when not at home. Can also turn zones on and off and also adjust temperature, but that’s it.

Really should be able to program schedules, without this feature the wifi module is really not worth the $400 cost.

### 2/5 — App crashes

*2024-12-01*

The app works fine until you set a timer. Then the app crashes. I’ve reported the issue a number of times over the past few years yet it still hasn’t been fixed.

### 2/5 — Rinnai - Brivis WiFi Rinnai - bad app

*2024-08-05*

There are numerous failing with this app. It is very difficult to link the app with the touch controller. I need to get technical assistance from my son (software engineer) as dealing with brivis Rinnai phone assistance was hopeless he had no idea.

This issue is the device is set to AP mode (access point) to link to it. The smartphone (iPhone 14 Pro) sees this as a security threat. Had to turn off every security feature in the phone to get the app to link with the controller. After its linked it’s secure as AP mode is off and the network sees it as a wifi device.

It has no functionality to link to Google home etc. does not display the current temperature of the room as per brochure just what it’s set at.

In general is very poor for the cost with nonexistent support or improvement by the developer.

### 2/5 — Stopped working with IOS17

*2023-10-18, version 1.16*

Seems to have stopped working allowing wifi connection with IOS17

### 1/5 — App clunky and unstable

*2023-08-16*

When it’s operational this app works fine, although it seems to need a lot of “think” time to make temperature adjustments.
Unfortunately it frequently goes down and can only be made functional again by deleting the app and reinstalling- a very annoying and time-wasting activity.

### 1/5 — Old aged software and needs to come to current world

*2023-06-12*

Got installed by the builder and now I am stuck with this ancient technology which doesn’t work with anything except my mobile phone. Service is poor every time it goes down and it takes ages to reset it back and follow the process which is lengthy than launching a space shuttle. Worst app on my phone.
Needs a lot of software update. Rinnai should stop making these products and try whatever they are good at. Support is worst ever in the country.

### 2/5 — Att: Developer

*2023-05-09, version 1.16*

When will you integrate Apple HomeKit support?

### 1/5 — Connection issues

*2023-01-14, version 1.16*

App when it connects while on WiFi will have to keep reconnecting if you don’t use it.
App is very erratic in connecting when away from the home, may or may not connect.

### 1/5 — Needs updating

*2022-11-22*

Bought this as we were told it would be Google home compatible in the near future. That was over two years ago. Remote access outside the home does not work and cannot be configured. Within the home, connection is slow and often loses the wifi module requiring a full reset. It’s time your updated this app and module to be 21st century compatible and lived by your commitment to make it Google home compatible.

### 1/5 — Average

*2022-10-19*

Difficult setup process, installation and configuration manual that came with unit is different to the one online. Online Manual explains you can select direct mode option or router mode option, the latter is supposed to allow remote connection however i have not been able to see these settings. So many things need to be updated, time to bring this unit into the 21st century Rinnai otherwise it’s a waste of money!!!

### 3/5 — Remote cloud function not working.

*2022-08-23*

The App was a wonderful tool which allowed us to hear or cool the home remotely when we were not home. This function was useful when prior to us getting home.

Sadly, whilst the App works via Wifi at home this function is no longer works outside my home which defeats the intended purpose. Rinnai confirmed this via email. They have promised to replace the Rinnai Touch Wi-Fi when a new and more reliable unit is a available. That could mean 2 weeks or 12 months.

### 1/5 — Wifi keeps dropping

*2022-07-10, version 1.16*

Unfortunately, not a great product. Haven’t been able to configure it for 2 months. Very buggy, used to keep dropping off.

App also very buggy keeps freezing

### 1/5 — Touch wifi module

*2022-07-04, version 1.16*

It’s a dud. Took forever to connect. Once eventually connected will only connect in wifi mode.
Will not remotely connect to the cloud.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-02-07*

This is a seriously bad piece of software matched only by it’s equally terrible hardware. I’ve used plenty of WIFI devices in my time and this is by far the worst. Spent most of the day trying to connect this thing to WIFI, still haven’t been able to get it to work.

Given the price they are asking for seriously out dated hardware and software that looks decades out of date, this is a sad joke inflicted upon the consumer. I’m giving it one star because I can’t give zero stars. Hopeless, absolutely hopeless.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2025-05-25*

When we first had the system installed the app would allow cloud connection, but after a software update about 12 months ago this feature no longer works. So, essentially we've now got an app to control out heating/cooling that you can only use from within the WiFi range. Pretty pointless when I've got wall mounted NC-6 controllers in 3 zones of the house.

The whole idea of the app is that you can set the temperature from anywhere so you can come home ok to a climate controlled house.

There's no support from Rinnai. It's as though they know it's rubbish and have given up.

EDIT: Got through the customer support and Peter said the WiFi control module needs to be replaced at my own cost.

I told him about the reviews on the App Store and how this isn't an issue limited to me but he wasn't interested and basically told me to deal with it.

Not only is the app rubbish, the customer service is too.

### 1/5 — Remote connection gone?

*2025-05-22, version 1.20*

Local wifi connection working, but remote connection is disabled why?

Fix and support your products

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2024-12-04, version 1.20*

For something that costs so much it only worked when first purchased and was unreliable back then. Now doesn’t work at all. Yep, Garbage. Come on Rinnai read the reviews sort it out.

### 1/5 — Basic and barely functional

*2024-11-27*

I just wish someone at Rinnai could just look at a normal scheduling application like NEST. The schedule process is so basic you have no choice but to us the wall control. The wifi unit will only do 2.4GHz band so is old school, and the app needs to reconnect each time you open it. Zones cannot be renamed, scheduling display is barely 1990 standard and the app just assaults you with flashing icons, fans, flames and warnings. Needs a rewrite.

### 1/5 — Outdated

*2024-11-09*

The Rinnai Touch app experience has been very disappointing, particularly given the high cost of the required hardware module. The app’s design feels outdated, with a frustrating user experience plagued by bugs.

One major issue is that the app’s remote control feature, a key reason for using it, has recently stopped working outside the home.

This shift suggests that Rinnai may not be maintaining security updates or investing in software improvements, leaving users with limited functionality. For the price, I’d expect a more reliable, user-friendly app that Rinnai keeps up-to-date.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2024-09-25, version 1.20*

### 1/5 — It’s Impossible to get working!!!!

*2024-08-04, version 1.17*

Dated technology when it came out and in the past 3 yrs we have had the system there has been no updates.

We now have a new router and needed to reconnect the control module. I can connect to the wifi hub but never to the module

Talk to Rinnai and their response Duuno 🤷‍♂️

### 1/5 — Primitive & Lacks Functionality

*2024-04-25*

This is laughable technology in 2024. All the app allows is basic on / off via a phone, with no smart home integration or capacity to set or adjust a program. Also impossible to obtain support or speak to anyone who knows how it works or what upgrades are in development.
Many other superior 3rd party thermostats & apps… don’t waste your money on this overpriced high-school project.

### 1/5 — Cloud no longer works after latest update

*2023-10-23*

Cloud no longer works after latest update. I had to configure with an old Samsung S10 + to connect to the module and setup. I can only use the software locally because the cloud no longer works i.e. over 5G. Rinnai please test before you distribute the software to us all!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great!

*2025-08-11*

Setup is a little fiddly, but once done, being able to turn on the climate control so the house is the correct temperature on arrival is wonderful.

Can you enable it for Carplay? That would be bonkers & awesome all at once!

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2021-05-11, version 1.13*

Good.

### 5/5 — Fixed!

*2021-04-08, version 1.11*

Just two days after I updated and complained that the ‘zone’ button was not working, they have now fixed it.

Well done!

### 4/5 — Help to Saves on power cost

*2024-06-25*

Works great. Might be ancient technology for some but still an awesome add on as it’s great to be able to control your old cooling and heating systems from virtually any where around the world.

### 4/5 — It’s ok but could be better

*2023-01-30*

The app works very well and is very responsive like when I change the temperature it work with in 3sec. They only thing is that when set it up it can be a bit tricky and the app doesn’t really help when setting it up. My only wish is that I can use the app outside my home for example. When Im working I would like to turn on the AC from my phone then arrived home with the AC on unfortunately you can’t do that. !!! even though it says coming soon!!!

### 4/5 — Works good

*2019-08-28, version 1.03*

Little fiddly to set up up the wifi module, wouldn't recommend it if you aren't confident working with electrics, but once installed the app pretty much takes care of the soft stuff, and is easy to use

### 3/5 — Good control system

*2026-09-08*

The interface in new update on iOS is really bad. They should have checked before releasing. It would be good if will be checked and fixed.

### 3/5 — Works but meh

*2026-09-07*

When will this thing get Google Home and Apple Home integration, the app works but so so, really needs the integration. You’re a multi million dollar company investing into this should be basic

### 3/5 — Needs more features

*2024-05-25, version 1.17*

Works ok, but could be much better.

Useful for turning heating on or off when not at home. Can also turn zones on and off and also adjust temperature, but that’s it.

Really should be able to program schedules, without this feature the wifi module is really not worth the $400 cost.

### 3/5 — It works

*2023-03-11, version 1.16*

Very unstable but it works
