There’s a “need help?” Link that you can click but it doesn’t take you anywhere. How is an app for a school institution this bad? I assume Duo might be the problem, why not offer different solutions? Will literally have to delete the app since it won’t allow me to actually get in. ### 1/5 — Seriously… *2026-01-02, version 2.0.10* My in-person classes have better online organization and accessibility than this ONLINE SCHOOL. -1/10. ### 1/5 — use the mobile website instead *2025-11-11, version 2.0.10* when the RioLearn website is better than the RioLearn app, that’s when you know you need to get a UX designer up in here so they can redesign it to actually work smoothly. for instance, when you try to switch between classes on the app, it logs you out and makes you log back in every. single. time. even when all you want to do is check a different class. and it’s not a simple login! it makes you go through the Maricopa Microsoft login every single time. another thing that I don’t like is that it never saves my login information. even when I ask it explicitly to save my login and remember me for next time, it doesn’t! overall, there’s a lot of work that needs to be done on this app and I have a lot of opinions… feel free to reach out for more! ### 1/5 — Version 2.0.9 Just Mimics the iPad Browser - Not Fully Functional *2024-04-02, version 2.0.9* There are some annoyances with Rio Salado College in general when using it through the browser. Logging in is a multi-stage process that requires putting in your username and password twice, followed by a 2FA token of some kind (usually sent via SMS). This is a minor annoyance, though, as the session in the LMS proper actually lasts a good amount of time, at most only requiring a login about once every week. This app seems like it might have an easier time logging in, but I cannot verify, as I have only logged in once. One of my largest gripes with Rio Salado College is in that the LMS they use does not fully support iPadOS or iOS. This is largely owing to the fact that Apple still uses WebKit and hasn’t bothered to develop their browser past 2012, forcing everyone to try to support 12-year-old technology, but the fact is that most other apps are able to do this without too much difficulty. The RioLearn app, though, is not fully tested against this platform, and does not work with Safari. Several of the modals that are included in lessons do not render correctly, and have incredibly limited functionality. Specifically, when learning foreign languages, segments that require you to listen to audio from the professor sometimes render in such a fashion that you can’t interact with the media player, and the modal that records audio for oral exams cannot save your recordings to the filesystem: a critical step, as these recordings need to be uploaded on a separate page. I downloaded the app to see if it would have improved functionality. Many such apps directly connect to the backend system, and render course elements through a new interface. They streamline API calls and optimize the user workflows, and generally provide an enhanced user experience. However, this version of the RioLearn app is simply a wrapper for the same Safari browser experience. Things that are broken in Safari are broken here—perhaps moreso, if some of the other reviews here are to be believed. As it stands, RioLearn does not work on iPad or iOS for learning foreign languages, and I would be surprised if it worked on MacOS. This is true for the browser, and it is true for the app. Until they develop an ACTUAL front end app instead of a wrapper for the browser, this will continue to be the case. ### 1/5 — Suckz *2023-10-30, version 2.0.9* Not convenient at all. Everytime you want to sign in you have to type out your username and password. It doesn’t give you the option to save your info for an easier sign in. After all that you have to get a text message with a one time passcode. I can’t always bring my laptop with me to work due to the high sensitivity of my job. But I have my phone during my lunches and this app never loads anything correctly. You can’t use the message function. It force closes every few minutes. Format is junky. It is easy to navigate and no longer has the sluggish feel it did with the last version. ### 5/5 — Significant Upgrades *2022-04-26, version 2.0.4* When I first downloaded this app with a previous version it was sluggish and rough. However with its recent updates, the UI is much cleaner and smoother than beforehand. I can actually see myself utilizing this app now. For those enrolled in online learning who can’t buy hard books, or want to print 400 pages of journals, this app makes it easier to read when you find down time out and about! Thanks! ### 4/5 — It works *2023-09-14, version 2.0.9* I read the reviews and checked for how frequently the app is updated, decided it was okay to download despite the low rating. It’s very similar to the full site itself. I don’t have issues with navigation and everything is easy to access. The material loads well and so do the grades. There was an upgrade shortly after I downloaded the app. The only annoyance I’ve run into is that I frequently have to sign on each time I access the app, even if I saved my device. ### 4/5 — Wow *2021-02-11, version 1.4.3* Im only taking one class right now, but with this app, it’s possible to do it all right from my iPad. I can carry my class with me and don’t have a bulky laptop. I still use my laptop to complete assignments, but the lessons can all be done on the app. There are some things i wish it had, like the ability to adjust color settings, but the thing i would love most is something to adjust font size. Otherwise, outstanding app. I hope y’all keep up with maintenance! ### 3/5 — Randomly logs me out... *2019-08-20, version 1.0* I decided to work from my iPhone XR since I travel at times throughout the year and while I’m doing homework in the app it will log me out in the middle of the assignment. I do understand that this a new step forward for Rio Salado, but I would appreciate it if this could be fixed so I don’t have to worry about losing my progress. ### 3/5 — Work in progress... *2019-08-19, version 1.0* It’s nice to have an app that allows easier access to my courses. While it is a new app, it’s very rough. Menus and clickable options aren’t quite in the places to be expected - once in the course home for a class, you see options clickable options but not ones that make it easier to navigate. The side menu pane from the left has the same selections as the website, but personally, the popular ‘Lessons’ and ‘Gradebook’ would be helpful placed at the bottom navigation. The application also has a minimal time-out feature and. unable to be changed. Over the last few days, while in the middle of a lesson’s readings, the application automatically signs out and you must log back in to continue the course. I’m for security, but not while the application is in use. A decent start, but as those English professors remind us, writing is a process... so must application develoment. Looking forward to improvements. ### 2/5 — Could be better *2026-06-26, version 2.0.10* You have to login, to then be taken to the screen where you login, to then prompt the duo two factor authentication. And then, after 5 minutes of flipping through your classes, lessons, and gradebook, the menu on the side will glitch out and turn completely white, and you’ll have to exit the app entirely then re-login. It’s very annoying. Outside of that the app is really nice but because of that I never wanna use it. ### 2/5 — Needs Improvement *2025-10-22, version 2.0.10* I mainly do all my work on my IPad and while the app is great for being able to access my classes without a computer, it is extremely frustrating to use because of constant glitches in the screen not fitting to my screen as well as major bugs that I can not seem to fix.
