## What is Ripple?

Every news app tells you what happened. Ripple goes one step further: what it may mean for you, specifically.

That is the whole app. Ripple asks one question of every story: what does this mean for my life?

Here's the thing: the news is broken. Not because reporters aren't trying, but because every outlet has a lens. Left, right, sensational, understated. You're always getting someone's angle, whether you know it or not.

So Ripple does two things.

First, the feed. About four times a day we pull stories from 11 outlets across the spectrum, including PBS, BBC, The Guardian, Axios, The Hill, Al Jazeera and Drop Site. AI rewrites each one into a short, plain summary that drops the loaded framing. Every story keeps its outlet name and a link to the original, so you can compare and decide for yourself.

Second, the Ripple. Tap "See The Ripple" on any story and AI reads it against the profile you built at signup. It writes back how that story may land in your actual life. Your career. Your city. Your money. Your family. Every Ripple is different because every reader is different.

A new trade policy hits the wire? A banker in Detroit gets a different Ripple than a nurse in Nashville. That's the point.

WHAT YOU GET:

• A feed drawn from outlets across the spectrum, summarized in plain language, with the source on every story.

• Ripples: personalized AI analysis that connects a headline to your life. Not generic "this might affect the economy" takes. Built from the profile you gave us.

• Home Screen widgets in 3 sizes so you can glance at the latest without opening the app.

• Dynamic Island alerts when fresh stories drop.

• Share cards for stories and Ripple analyses that actually look good when you send them.

• Save stories for later. Read them when you're ready.

THE HONEST PITCH:

Ripple was built by one person, a developer in the Midwest who got tired of reading the same story five different ways and still not knowing what it meant for his own life.

One more thing, since you're trusting an app with your career and your money. Ripples are written by AI. They are an informed read on a story, not a prediction, and not financial, medical or legal advice. Start there, then think for yourself.

3 Ripples are free. After that, Ripple Premium unlocks unlimited personalized analysis for $9.99/month or $79.99/year. No ads, no data selling, just a subscription that keeps the lights on and the AI running.

Your news should work for you. Not the other way around.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.6.7 — 2026-08-18

Housekeeping release. We updated the App Store listing so Ripple is easier to find when you search for daily recaps and news with real-world impact. The feed and Ripple analysis work the same as before.

### 1.6.6 — 2026-08-06

Housekeeping release. Subscription status now syncs more reliably between your device and our server, and we cleaned up several small bugs behind the scenes.

### 1.6.5 — 2026-08-04

You can now try Ripple before creating an account. Answer the profile questions, watch your first Ripple get written about your own life, and only then sign up.

For returning readers, the app now opens straight to your feed instead of holding you on the login screen while it checks things over the network.

Also fixed: swiping to the next story no longer leaves a sliver of the previous card stuck at the top of the screen, and BBC stories now come from their US edition, so your feed stays focused on news that affects you.

### 1.6.4 — 2026-07-30

Ripple now works with VoiceOver. Story cards read as one sentence instead of six disconnected pieces, and you can move between stories without swiping, which was impossible with a screen reader before. Every button has a spoken name.

Text scales to the largest accessibility size without anything getting cut off. If you use Reduce Motion, the splash screen, the loading animation and the page transitions now hold still.

Ripple analyses say up front that they are written by AI. If one misses, you can tell us.

Also fixed: the analysis screen was rebuilding every section dozens of times a second while text streamed in, which drained battery and made screen readers lose their place.

### 1.6.3 — 2026-07-16

Fixed a first-run onboarding step where new users could get stuck on the demo story screen without realizing they needed to tap "See The Ripple" to continue. The demo now shows clearer guidance and progress so you can get into the app faster.
