### 5/5 — The best app!!!

*2025-11-30, version 3.2*

I never write reviews. I am writing a review because this is one of the best purpose-designed apps I’ve ever used!!! Just get it! You’ll love it!!

### 5/5 — Best bread / pizza / recipe app

*2025-04-23, version 2.4*

This app truly is fantastic. It had everything I needed like recipe scaling, automatic unit conversion, hydration for pizza and the AI recipe importer feature is awesome. I can even import recipes from other languages and the apps translates them perfectly. A cool feature is to also be able to load YouTube video transcripts and get neatly organized recipes that I can scale and modify as I wish.
I’m barely scratching the surface, there are sourdough features, dough temperature calculators and so on. Great job!!

### 5/5 — This is an exceptional app

*2024-09-27*

This is not just slick it is sick man. Just buy it outright. Great design. Very functional on both iOS and iPadOS. The prompts and tips lead you to a great result. Very impressed with following the prompts to one of their sample sourdoughs. Did I mention the import function is amazing?

### 5/5 — Easy and fun

*2024-04-09, version 1.6*

This app is easy and fun to use. I love how it keeps me on track when I’m making multiple recipes.

### 5/5 — Biggest Gamechanger for Sourdough

*2023-11-16, version 1.5.2*

This app is amazing. The Fluff Monster recipe is my staple and my sourdough skills have improved so much with this app!!! Thank you so much to whoever made it 🩷🩷🩷🩷

### 5/5 — The perfect bread companion app

*2023-11-10, version 1.5.2*

This app literally does everything you would want it to do! It’s fantastic. Thanks!

### 5/5 — This app is amazing

*2023-09-02, version 1.5*

I’ve spent many years baking, but could never really master bread. Until this app! I have made the most beautiful sourdough boules ever, using this app!! I can’t recommend enough.

### 5/5 — How can we get dynamic measurements in our own recipes like the Rise recipes?

*2023-05-22, version 1.4.1*

The included recipes in the app seems to scale measurements within the steps as ingredients are adjusted above. The value of measurement amounts appears inside of an outline button within the body copy of the instructions.

How can we accomplish this with imported or our own typed in recipes? Is there special markup code we should be using when creating or editing our recipes?

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2023-04-01, version 1.4.1*

Much care has been put into this app that makes it first class. Job well done developers!

### 5/5 — Wish I found this app earlier

*2022-12-23, version 1.4.1*

This app is a game changer for all the technicalities needed for Sourdough bakers. There are many well thought features to praise, such as total hydration factoring in your sourdough hydration (that too you can have different sourdough hydration percentages), allows creation of custom bakes with custom steps (I made one for my favorite Whole Wheat Sourdough recipe which is specific to the flour I mill and use). So much more.

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2022-12-23, version 1.4.1*

I use Rise a lot and I highly recommend it. The design is great and the timers are helpful.

### 4/5 — Possible error in Smart DDT calculator

*2022-11-26, version 1.4*

The calculator indicates that the final dough temperature is above the temperature of the ingredients even though mixing is turned off. Do you include heat generated by the fermentation when calculating the temperature?

I noticed that the final temperature does not change when mixing is activated and deactivated so I’m guessing that a the energy added when mixing is turned on is not cleared when mixing is switched off.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App Doesn’t Work

*2026-01-24, version 3.2*

I’ve downloaded and deleted this twice today and once I click “continue” on the opening welcome page the app just idles without ever loading.

### 1/5 — Another greedy subscription app!

*2022-10-17, version 1.4*

So disappointing to find yet another well made up that doesn’t warrant a subscription! It’s a recipe book with extra frills, why would any pay for this every month it’s simply not worth it, yet if it charged a decent price I’d happily purchase it. If you into a book store you don’t have to go back ever month to pay for it. This is everything that is wrong with todays developers, just greedy!! Don’t bother.

### 1/5 — Not working

*2020-12-20, version 1.2.2*

I just purchased yesterday and have yet to receive notification alarms for feeding my starter. I cannot figure out where to request a refund either. So disappointed.

### 2/5 — Very buggy, not worth paying for

*2026-01-28, version 3.2*

It's a real shame this app is so buggy. I even paid the $30 for the full featured version. Text constantly deletes itself as I type, text in recipe steps will be covered by the UI, ingredients list resets itself, scaling recipes does not work as intended. A shame because it's a good idea for an app and the AI recipe importing works decently well as a way to circumvent ad filled websites. Please fix these issues.

### 2/5 — Import

*2024-08-06, version 2.1.1*

I have tried to import several sourdough recipes without success, that is the reason I purchased it.

### 3/5 — Frustrating in practice

*2022-04-11, version 1.3.2*

I have two main issues with this app, which seemed very promising.

The big one is that you can’t enter tsp amounts smaller than 1/2 tsp. Need 1/4 tsp of something in a recipe? Too bad. That makes the app unuseable for me. I do almost everything in grams, but things like dried herbs or extracts or yeast are commonly measured in fractions of teaspoons.

The other issue is that while you can enter a start time for a recipe, what’s really needed in a bread making app is being able to select an END time so it could tell you roughly when you’d need to start to have bread ready by that time. I’ve always found that the most frustrating thing because many people want to target a certain meal to have bread that’s just finishing cooling, but apps and recipes are designed around the idea that people just want bread whenever.

### 4/5 — Nice!

*2025-12-20, version 3.2*

I love the idea and the app, it would be great to have a way to export/import recipes, so that it becomes feasible to integrate them with LLMs for suggestions and experimentations!

### 4/5 — ¡Me encanta!

*2024-08-24*

La aplicación me encanta, es muy completa. Pero no le puedo dar la última estrella hasta que no esté en español. Sería un puntazo a su favor. A ver si nos tienen en cuenta 🥰

### 4/5 — Great app

*2024-05-11*

Note for Devs. Would be great to add widgets

### 4/5 — superb app for beginners and pros - widgets would be a great addition

*2023-05-05*

this is a marvelous app, well designed, pretty and with loads of resources and utilities such as calculators to make your life as a hobby-baker as easy as possible. only the option to set up widgets for your home or lock screen would make it even better. this would allow you to catch up with the baking process at one glance.

### 5/5 — A must for bread bakers

*2026-07-25, version 3.3.2*

Rise is and incredible app, it’s intuitive, easy to use and really helpful when formulating. I highly recommend it.

### 5/5 — Very helpful app

*2026-07-23, version 3.3.2*

I use this app every time I bake my sourdough. I love the apps recipes and I also love that I can create my own or transfer from the web. I strongly recommend this app if you’re a beginner or even if you’ve been baking a while.

### 5/5 — Still the best baking app I’ve tried

*2026-07-17*

I’ve had and used this app for many years and it’s still the best baking app I’ve ever tried, and continues to get better. I actually use it now to import all kinds of recipes, not just bread. The import feature is incredible.

### 5/5 — Incredibly helpful

*2026-02-20, version 3.3*

I’ve always loved the way that baking bread makes a house smell and I wanted to learn to bake bread myself but I really didn’t know where to start, especially because I live in the mountains and I know that baking at elevation is different. This app gave me everything I need to know. Now I’m baking and my house smells wonderful. :)

### 5/5 — This is a very helpful app

*2026-02-20, version 3.3*

I use this app twice a week to do sourdoughs and other baking. I’ve been using it for a long time and I totally recommend it. The developer is very responsive and is always adding new features.

### 5/5 — Close to perfect!

*2026-02-14, version 3.2*

This app is as close to perfect as any that I’ve seen. It easily manages on the flow of sourdough baking with all its pauses and waits. It keeps track of where you are in a recipe and notifies you of when you need to do something, keeping your baking on track and your bread spectacular. It doesn’t do the baking for you, but it does nearly everything else.

### 5/5 — Amazing app!

*2026-02-09, version 3.2*

Love the AI feature! I can take pictures of family recipes, etc and it plugs it into this beautiful arranged/timed app. Everything in one place. Love it and highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Masterpiece.

*2026-01-24, version 3.2*

Carefully crafted app. It’s well worth the purchase for novices or masters. The calculators included alone are worth every penny. Beyond them, you will accurately dynamically know what time on the clock to perform every step. This takes away the anxiety and allows you to do other things with full concentration.

### 5/5 — Issue with it just stop working while I’m working with the recipe. Quit during preheating.

*2026-01-17, version 3.2*

Love the app as long as it works. No it just quits in the middle of my steps.

### 5/5 — Fantastic app. Handles the science so you can focus on the art.

*2025-12-20, version 3.2*

This app is AMAZING! Sourdough has always intimidated me. I’ve watched plenty of tutorials about the process and techniques, but TRACKING all the details is what has kept me from baking. There’s so much to keep track of in terms of measurements, timing, dough handling, etc. And if you need to make any adjustments, then keeping track of everything is that much harder.

Enter the Rise app! You can change the loaf size, the timing, the hydration, etc. and the app does all the conversions and reports not only the amounts but also the ratios in whatever units you like. You can change the timing for any step and the changes will cascade through the rest of the recipe. And you can set reminders for each step. It comes with a nice set of starter recipes, but you can also build your own or (amazing feature) import from websites! And there are lots of areas where you can take notes (along with pictures) to track your results with each bake. There are additional utilities for more advanced or science-minded bakers to optimize hydration, rise times, temps, etc. And there is a library of guides for making and caring for starters, folding and shaping, and troubleshooting. So whether you’re a novice or an experienced baker, the app is very useful!

Rise finally gave me the confidence to start baking and pushed me way up the learning curve. With the app tracking timings and measurements, I was able to focus on the experience of working the dough. My very first loaf was a success! And I’ve had good bakes ever since.

Thank you, developers!!
