### 4/5 — Amazing Game

*2022-08-23, version 4.1.3*

I love this game so much the only thing wrong with it was the ads (Only for mobile) other then that the zones look awesome and it’s so much fun to explore.

### 4/5 — Didn’t expect this.

*2022-06-08, version 4.1.3*

I must say. I am impressed. I have never seen a game as beautiful as this.😍And that is saying a lot for a 16-bit game that cam out in 1995. When I got this game, I just decided to get it to add to my SEGA collection. But this game is something else. Unlock many other trashy apps, this is worth playing! I do wish that they could change the menu screen, as it would make the game a lot more unique. If they do that then I will give it 5 ⭐️s.

### 4/5 — Pretty good genesis classic

*2022-01-30, version 4.1.3*

This game is really good except there is a lot of ads. When ever you pause the game or make a save state it asks you to watch an ad to do those features.

### 4/5 — A Flawed port

*2021-08-07, version 4.1.3*

Overall I’ve had fun with this game but one lingering problem keeps it from getting 5 stars. YOU CAN’T SAVE ANYMORE. My Game Center account won’t work, so every time I exit out the game I lose my progress. Fix that and got your self a good game

### 4/5 — Ristar is cool but i have a lot of hard time’s

*2021-06-11, version 4.1.3*

Well I like this game because it remains me of sonic the hedgehog but I’ve been playing for hours and I still die on dark forest in planet flora 😵

### 5/5 — Kids love it

*2020-11-21, version 4.1.1*

So as I Khari make more updates

### 5/5 — I can come

*2020-11-04, version 4.1.1*

Hope you have a great day at the best

### 5/5 — Easier on genesis

*2020-08-09, version 4.1.1*

If this is on the Genesis Mini, you’re better off playing this on that. Sure, the controls are easy, but once you get to the second level, it’s really hard to navigate, and those eel enemies are hard to get off your tail. So if you think it’s worth spending a few bucks, I suggest the Genesis Mini rather than this port.

### 4/5 — !

*2020-07-06, version 4.1.1*

I really liked it at first. Except then I found out that the save feature means nothing. I have to beat it in one run or I have to restart. But the fun I had makes up for it.

### 5/5 — I remember playing this

*2020-05-08, version 4.1.1*

I found out that this was on mobile which made me extremely happy, I love obscure mascots and characters. I played this on a mini Sega Genesis thing that my gramma gave to me for Christmas. After playing it again, it’s pretty good! Will you put Ristar 2 on mobile soon?

### 5/5 — Awesome game!

*2020-04-08, version 4.1.1*

First I started playing sonic the hedgehog and sense it’s from SEGA I search for other sega games so I found Ristar and I love it! It’s so awesome!

### 4/5 — Love the game

*2020-03-25, version 4.1.1*

Hey I love the game. Works great with nimbus controller. Please keep making updates and make it more like sonic menu and screen.

Keep making more and please make sonic and knuckles and sonic 3. Will also like sonic 3D

### 5/5 — I love it but adds

*2020-03-06, version 4.1.1*

Please make the no adds because everything I do there’s an add.

### 5/5 — Game is amazing 😉 but still read rest

*2019-12-07, version 2.0.2*

Please make it so you don’t need Game Center to save a game but amazing job like always SEGA👾👍

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — won’t let me save or sign in

*2021-11-01, version 4.1.3*

There’s an option to save the game by signing into your Game Center account but everytime I attempt to log in, there’s an error even when I’m connected to wifi. Please fix this bug

### 1/5 — Not the best performance

*2018-08-29, version 1.2.1*

Don’t get me wrong, many genesis games and mobile ports are nothing but amazing. And Ristar remains the best games the soundtrack, character design, level design, and even the plot. It’s a game worth playing on the genesis, PlayStation3, X-box, and PlayStation 4. I’m a huge ristar fan, but the mobile port every time I start the game, I get nothing but a black screen?
C’mon Sega.

Ristar is a game that is definitely 5 Stars, but this mobile port, he’s going to have to deal with 1

### 2/5 — Change a few things please

*2022-12-01, version 4.1.3*

I like Sega games/old games, and most of all, I like Ristar. It’s been one of my favorite games for years. But there’s a problem. It’s the D-Pad. When you press a corner, it will move you left or right. It should NOT be like that. And not just that, it’s the direct movements too. When it comes to a D-Pad like an Xbox controller, the D-Pad basically HAS to be symmetrical, or I can’t play it. The left and right movements are too thin for me and that gets me anxious thinking I’m going to lose a life. And another thing: Ristar CERTAINLY DOES NOT belong on mobile. As much as I was pretty good at this a few years back, having a pretty thin phone was a problem because I used to play on an IPad. I would recommend it, but the game is just not right for me. I’m way better at this on computer. I’m not going to call it disappointing, I’d just call it not as good. Hope you can fix this since it’s been out for literally more than 20 years. :)

### 2/5 — Great game nerfed by controls.

*2019-06-16, version 2.0.2*

I love the original Ristar. It is one of my favorite platformers on the Genesis and a great diversion from the Sonic games. But this version is just not for me.

In terms of the performance, it does do a great job. After all, I am playing this on an iPhone 7. However, that isn’t the main issue for me. My problem are the controls!

Jumping can be very slippery and be a chore, even if it is a basic challenge. Also, trying to attack is infuriating since it hardly feels like it lands. And the game isn’t hard at all, but this port feels very sloppy in throughout.

All in all, it could be considered a matter of preference and the game plays fine for you. But for me, I can’t stand to play it anymore. If you really want to experience the original Ristar, just go out and get it in one of the hundreds of Genesis compilations Sega develop.

### 2/5 — Unplayable

*2018-04-02, version 1.1.2*

I was extremely excited when I first heard of this coming out, as Ristar was a huge part of my childhood and remains my favorite game to this day. Unfortunately the game is so laggy I cannot even play it. 2 stars for them attempting to put It out atleast. Hopefully this problem is fixed in the near future.

### 2/5 — Abysmal Performance

*2017-10-14, version 1.1.2*

This game runs abysmally on my iPod 5, iPad 3, and iPhone 5C, with an abundance of slowdown, frame-tearing, and audio-popping. I already have this game on my Nintendo Wii, but the image just isn't as sharp as it would be through an HDMI signal. I'm 100% certain that the A8 chip in the Apple TV is more than enough to properly run this at a stable 60fps.

Edit: Had to reduce this from 3-star to 2-star. I decommissioned my iPhone 5C and made a 3-generation leap to the iPhone SE, but even jumping from the A6 to the A9, the game still suffers from stuttering, frame-tearing, and audio-popping. It has become abundantly clear to me that the emulation software in Sega Forever is inferior to that of unofficial Genesis emulators for Android/Windows, and will run poorly on the A8 chip in the Apple TV (4th-gen) and even the A11 Bionic chip in the iPhone 8 and iPhone X. Sega Forever is a 2016 ARM-architecture Genesis emulator being outclassed by the Nintendo Wii’s “Virtual Console”—a 2007 PowerPC-architecture Genesis emulator. Nintendo has proven with the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch that ARM devices can run stable, accurate emulation of older consoles, making Sega Forever even more insulting.

I suggest that Sega either patch each and every one of these games to be of the same standard as the 3D Classics line for Nintendo 3DS, or abandon the Sega Forever project altogether.

### 3/5 — A weak port of a solid game

*2023-03-17*

Ristar has been a fantastic game to discover and play through. It has a very endearing art style and was something not remotely on my radar. When I found it I was very impressed by the creativity and the care that went into the original game.

Giving it three stars because of two glaring issues with the game:

-1 star: The over-saturation of ads in the game. I’m not exaggerating it’s one of the worst ad formats I’ve ever seen in a game. Start the game? watch an ad. Save your progress after each level? Watch an ad to do that. Want to go back to your level after watching the ad to save your progress? Watch an ad. I don’t feel very sympathetic to this poor design given it’s Sega, a very successful gaming corporation, and not an indie developer who may need the increased ad revenue.

-1 star: The controls are also laughably bad. I get that it’s never easy to port a game onto mobile but this handles way worse than I often have patience for.

At the end of the day, it’s a very flawed port of what I would say is a strong original game for the Sega Genesis. There’s plenty of enjoyment to be found as there’s a lot of care went into the 1995 product. The port itself is about as lazy as it can get. You could probably get through the game if you have enough patience, nostalgia or appreciation for the creativity.

### 3/5 — It’s a good game but maybe play it on console for a better experience

*2023-01-26, version 4.1.3*

So I played this on Nintendo switch it was fun but the game it does not have a good rewind please fix

### 3/5 — Too many ads

*2022-02-27, version 4.1.3*

The game is fun, but there are a lot of ads. At the start of the game, when I load my file, when I save data, and when I leave the pause menu. I get that some apps have ads for a reason, but this is kinda too much.

### 3/5 — I would

*2020-07-04, version 4.1.1*

Appreciate if you can be able to put in the Japanese version of the game so people can know the true experience of the game and have a lot of fun

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — I’m not gonna tell you again it’s not a copy of Sonic

*2023-02-28*

Start been my childhood in 2016 on the iPhone 10 and that was a pretty long time I played it I was having a hard time with the D pad but I realize there was a joystick arcade one so I put on but in weeks later it was pretty hard to use so I used the D pad which is really easy to use for me because I’m an iPad and if you’re playing on phone make your D pad or buttons bigger got it so you have to get this because this is the best game I ever had for my phone or I will say iPad it’s really original contact I know the history his name used to be called feel it’s a dumb name right but that’s all bye the end

### 5/5 — Great game and classic

*2022-11-18, version 4.1.3*

Great game because there’s only one character which means no pain unlocking other characters I rate this five Ristars get it? Star ristar?

### 5/5 — Coolest game ever

*2022-10-16, version 4.1.3*

The songs and stuff are so fun and it has retro vibes but it could use some work on the controls overall five stars and two thumbs up 👍👍

### 5/5 — This game is very great

*2022-07-24, version 4.1.3*

I love this mobile port of Ristar. When I was young, I thought the only way to play Ristar was to get a Sega Genesis. I just don’t know why there isn’t a sequel.

### 5/5 — Bozo

*2022-04-20, version 4.1.3*

It great but it has a little to much adds to it

### 5/5 — This game is and feels awsome

*2022-04-06, version 4.1.3*

I really like this classic game, it just comes back to that early concept for feels the rabbit, I’m so glad they came back to that rabbit game play idea. Well if you can call it a rabbit and he uses his hands instead of his big ears all the time but I think that’s really cool!!!!!

### 5/5 — Good luck in a boss fight

*2021-04-19, version 4.1.3*

Boss are a little hard not like cuphead I can’t beat level 1, but these bosses aren’t that hard. This game is a really good adventure!!

### 5/5 — I think Ristar is awesome and Sega should make more games with Ristar! ❤️❤️❤️

*2021-04-18, version 4.1.3*

My opinion is that Ristar is the most impressive game I’ve ever encountered. At first I thought Sonic The Hedgehog was the real star, but turns out Ristar actually is. Ha ha. Instead of Sonic having an entire series, I think Ristar should. The music is beautiful, the stages are as beautiful as the music, everything is amazing! I have no idea why people are voting Sonic over Ristar! My most favorite character in the Sega company is Ristar! Sonic isn’t the star to me anymore! Ristar is! Get it? Ristar is a star, and I think he should be famous! Ristar. Star. Ha ha ha ha ha! Anyways, I think Ristar should have the spotlight. Ha ha!

### 5/5 — I wish the sonic one and two remaster the version for mobile looked like this

*2021-03-25, version 4.1.3*

This game is so good I like the man you want to start it I it this game is so good I like the man you want to start it I wish the psych the hedgehog remastered look like this too because you’re actually be able to scroll the pixelated options instead of you who happen to pick up your menu so if you do this to Sonic the hedgehog will double the rating

### 5/5 — Why did you say they didn’t have a game store🤔

*2020-12-15, version 4.1.1*

I like the graphics
