The app on the other hand doesn’t recognize my iPhone is connected to the RIVA Turbo and actually playing music. As soon as I open the RIVA Turbo app, the app gives me a message that “This app requires a RIVA Turbo connected via Bluetooth. Please make sure your Turbo is turned on and paired in this device’s Bluetooth Settings.” Therefore I can not control the RIVA Turbo with the app. Not acceptable, why have he app????? How can I rate this app below a 1? ### 1/5 — App or music. Not both *2017-06-21* You can't have the app connected and a Bluetooth speaker. Only one or the other. Couldnt figure out what was going on at first and when i did it was difficult to get out if it in order to go back to what i was doing. Have downloaded and deleted app twice now. I sure hope improvements are made soon. Love the device itself however: Brilliant. ### 3/5 — Should be better *2016-07-31* App control does the job but the volume control needs refinement. The volume level is modest through 6 of ten. It only really pops at 8-9. They need far more room on the volume, 1 to 10 doesn't cut it. ### 1/5 — Embarrassingly bad app *2015-10-26* This app is truly awful. Besides allowing you to turn on Turbo and surround modes and view battery life, it doesn't offer any functionality that isn't already done better by pretty much any other music app out there. Volume control is jumpy (and limited to ten digital levels with nothing in between on IOS 9). Playback options are rudimentary. It won't even let you pair with Bluetooth from the app -- something you have to do every time you turn the speaker back on -- nor can you turn on the speaker remotely. And how about a settings option that lets you turn off the annoyingly bright lights and goofy sounds completely? I can activate any setting (including turbo), and see battery status. I would like to see a button to check for firmware updates as described in the user manual. ### 5/5 — Simon says Riva Turbo X *2015-01-13, version 1.1* I was made aware of this new Bluetooth speaker from a friend in the audio business. I was able to get one of the few available units on the market. My friend told me it's the best sounding BT speaker he's ever heard. I'm no expert in audio but I do own other more expensive stereo equipment that cost a lot more than $350. I don't always play my stereo but would play during parties and get togethers. Most of the time, I'm told to turn them off after a short time playing my expensive stereo. When I played my turbo x, the audio is smooth and natural, almost like sitting in the room with the artist sing to me. Then I downloaded the app and it controls everything on the turbo. I don't know much about this company Riva but if turbo x is any indication, this company is on to something. ### 5/5 — Works great! *2015-01-02, version 1.1* I purchased my Turbo X from one of the Amazon listings. Really surprised that it came with an app, because some other big name Bluetooth speaker brands don't have an app. Downloaded the app and it connected to my turbo right away. Really surprised at the speakerphone feature too. You can't fast forward/rewind if you are streaming your music as full support of the app is for your own music playlist or if you are in iTunes. Works great! Really useful. Absolutely appreciate the clean and intuitive user interface. The integration between speaker and app is instant and seamless right after the download, and I was able to master all the operations in matter of minutes. Then with the app open you can see the battery condition, control the volume, see what artist and song is playing, skip forward/back/pause, mute, control stereo effect, turbo, and turn the unit off. It’s a simple remote, but works well.
