### 4/5 — Progression

*2025-04-19*

Overall this is a very fun game. I would say that the progression feels heavy. You get items to equip to character, but then the items need to be upgraded with materials that you rarely get unless you destroy other items. That on top of constantly upgrading characters in a variety of ways kind of takes time and attention away from the actual gameplay. Additionally, you have to focus resources on upgrading items for some characters while neglecting others, which ultimately reduces the fun of trying new characters that are far behind.

### 4/5 — Great game … but …

*2025-01-27, version 1.33.3*

Absolutely fantastic game. I’ve wasted a lot of time and money on it and I have no regrets. However, the lack of campaign updates and the onslaught difficulty is the only reason why I’ve knocked it down to 4 stars. I’ve been stuck on the same onslaught for a month now and as a result my characters can’t upgrade. Maybe easing up on the onslaught difficulty will make more players stay longer. I’m at the point where I don’t play the game anymore because I know my heroes can’t handle the levels I’m facing.

### 3/5 — Missed Opportunity

*2023-10-04*

This game had a lot of potential. The graphics are good, the characters are interesting, and the table top style game play is fun. But the game very quickly becomes a total grind. Any progress requires characters to advance, and that’s an incredibly slow and expensive slog. You either need to spend outrageously or still spend a lot and invest tons of time repetitively using raid tickets for a increasingly slim chance of obtaining what you need to advance. There’s also an onslaught mode that can help you advance, but that can be used very infrequently. Otherwise, you quickly hit a point where there’s just not all that much to do. All this is fixable, but it doesn’t seem like the developers are interested in growing the game or devoting much thought to it.

### 3/5 — Why I know it’s a snowprint game

*2023-07-02, version 1.30.2*

I know this game is from snowprint when I reinstalled this game on my new phone not surprisingly, because their games are so extremely very super unfriendly to old players.

Even you have a previous account when you install again you will have to play the long and boring tutorials once and once again and you can’t skip.

I can memorize they developed some other games previously and they keep returned players playing the old staff once and once again and it took them years before they realized there could be just one button called ‘skip’.

Let’s how long it will take them to add the simple basic fundamental useful skipping function in this game.

### 5/5 — I’m looking for Wes to it whenever I’m pulled away!

*2023-05-25, version 1.29.4*

Enjoyable, slightly challenging, and great fun.

### 5/5 — Fun and different.

*2022-08-28, version 1.21.5*

But I don’t like games that require my IPad to be vertical since I keep my charger plugged in.

### 2/5 — Could be fun if it wasn’t so buggy

*2022-08-20*

I’m a big fan of turn based strategy, so this game was very fun initially, but as I’ve played for over a year now I’ve watched the game get worse and worse. In the past three months I’ve dealt with bugs around the energy and ticketing system almost weekly, and their support team hasn’t done anything to fix the problem. It’s especially frustrating in the middle of their tournaments, as I’ve been knocked out of strong positions with no support received when I reached out.

Most recently they changed the game so internet is required to play. I was hoping this would fix the problems, as their support team said their issues were around syncing when I played offline, but I’m still having the same problems, as well as a whole host of new problems where the game won’t recognize my internet. Hoping this review will help others avoid getting invested in a game that doesn’t support its players or correct for the impact of its bugs.

### 5/5 — Pretty good

*2022-05-19, version 1.18.30*

Surprised by the quality and content. I usually hate p2w stuff but at least this one is polished and fun.

### 5/5 — Recommended

*2022-05-12, version 1.18.7*

Great tactical turn-based game.

### 4/5 — Effortlessly elegant

*2022-05-03, version 1.17.1*

Refreshingly fun RPG. Very easy to learn how to play. Level up system is very clear and easy to understand. You can still progress as a F2P player or you can $$$$. For those who don’t want to deal with complicated mechanics this little gem will definitely be enjoyable to pass the time.

### 1/5 — STOP

*2024-11-10, version 1.33.3*

STOP FORCING TUTORIALS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!! JESUS H CHRIST!!!!

### 1/5 — Listen to the community before you even try

*2023-10-21, version 1.31.4*

Guys I have played hundreds of games and everyone is right here. This is just a money grab. Well developed and I get it but this one is a tad on the ridiculous side. I don’t have a million dollars to make this game enjoyable. Nice try devs! I would say make it better but you won’t so keep scraping in your measly profits from the couple whales that play. Hopefully your next “development” isn’t the greediest I’ve ever seen.

### 1/5 — Lost Everything

*2023-10-09, version 1.31.4*

Logged in after a while and everything was gone. I paid money for different packs and I guess they stole that from me…great work devs…ugh.

### 1/5 — Account gone

*2023-08-08, version 1.31.4*

Signed on after a year and everything is gone… :(

### 1/5 — Chest Infinite Loop

*2023-07-10, version 1.30.2*

So I played for about a month and was getting into the game. Then one day I login to the game and I am now stuck in an infinite loop of collecting the same reward chest over and over again. It was good while it lasted.

### 1/5 — Greedy, money hungry people

*2023-06-21, version 1.30.2*

This game is ok, if you’re rich, it’s not good for kids and all they ask for is money.
Forget this one…

### 1/5 — Copy and paste of Warhammer

*2023-05-31, version 1.30.2*

Pathetically unoriginal

### 1/5 — Fix the bug pls

*2022-08-30, version 1.21.5*

I pass stage 30 for like 20 times, and it still shows that I never played this stage and wouldn’t allow me to go for next one. This bug is so annoying.

### 1/5 — Major problems for end-game players

*2022-07-23, version 1.20.11*

I have been playing this game for a long time. I am a level 30. I am giving this game one star because the developers have not provided the resources for top players to progress.

There is an item to promote higher level heroes called the Divine Orb. I currently need 64 of these and on average you can get one or two a week. Sorry, I am not waiting a year to level all the toons up.

Another problem is the reward system. After completing quests or an event, you get various items to improve your toons. The problem is most of my characters are epic+ and I still get common items that I have not needed in months. They need to tailor rewards to the character set of the player.

I have put tickets in with these concerns and have received silence in response.

### 1/5 — All Progress Gone

*2021-10-22, version 1.10.0*

The game just started over - years of experience and money down the drain.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great turn based game

*2025-11-08, version 1.33.3*

If you love games like heroscape - this is a great turn based game like that. Having a ton of fun!!

### 5/5 — True Tactics!

*2025-10-15, version 1.33.3*

I love a game that needs decisions and careful planning! A true strategy game for those that enjoy tactical combat!

### 5/5 — Awesome Game

*2025-07-21, version 1.33.3*

I love this game. There are a lot of character’s to collect in this game and they each have their own booster’s and artifacts. I also like the fact that the cards have a lot of information and that the game has different battles. Are also get awards by completing tasks. I would suggest this game to anybody who loves collecting and battles.

### 5/5 — In fact 2-3/5

*2025-05-11, version 1.33.3*

Because why doesn’t a person who makes some progress in the game, who continues to play it day after day, does not receive an increase in maximum energy according to the needs at a given stage. the further, the more grind. after a long pause, returning to this game, after a week of playing you lose the desire to continue. I WOULD LIKE TO OFFER A GREAT SOLUTION. ADD MORE REWARDS IN THE FORM OF ENERGY FOR COMPLETING TASKS. in my opinion, it will be great if you get at least 50 energy for one task. or increase the maximum energy with each level at least a little. perhaps it is worth increasing the number of visits to the game per day by accelerating the restoration of energy (3 minutes instead of 5?), but it is unlikely that this will make the game process more exciting, but this will also be great.

### 5/5 — Fab

*2025-05-04, version 1.33.3*

Rivengard is a hugely undervalued little game. It has great graphics, a nice selection of characters and game modes to play.
Sadly it is in “maintenance mode” and is no longer being developed though events are kept in rotation to keep things interesting. There’s definitely enough to keep you entertained for a while. As with all games there’s a certain grind required to get past some stages but it’s easily FTP and has a small but dedicated fan base.
It’s different from so many other RPGs on the App Store and I think is unique enough to be worthy of some love and attention

### 5/5 — Simple, Challenging, Relaxing

*2025-01-01*

I was looking for other games to play while my energy recharged for Tacticus, and I found this game, which is basically the same format but with a different theme.

Overall, I would say I like Rivengard better than Tacticus because it does not rely so heavily on getting specific characters from the summoning portal: all levels can be played with whatever characters you want. Instead of a split between factions for the Onslaught and Treasure Beach (Salvage Run) battle modes, there is just one, and you only need gold to upgrade abilities, not any other badges. As you progress through Onslaught in Rivengard, you can also get entire characters at certain levels.

The downside is that the chapters get difficult pretty fast. They don’t start over in difficulty each time like in Tacticus; chapter 2 is more difficult than chapter 1 and it keeps getting more difficult. There are four chapters total in campaign mode, each with 75 levels (plus their Elite campaign counterparts). I have managed to 3-star chapters 1 and 2 regular campaign mode with only Uncommon level characters, but I am slogging through chapter 3 using Uncommon. There are a handful of characters that you can raid levels to unlock at their Rare form once you beat a certain level, but you will likely be raiding that level for some time and hoping for assistance through the summoning portal before you can unlock them as rare characters which need like 200 shards.

Since this game isn’t the same money-grab as Tacticus, it doesn’t have too many events or updates. Even though the levels take a while to beat, they are still pretty fun, and I think the music and artwork is a little more cheery and relaxing.

### 5/5 — Fantasy Tacticus

*2024-10-01, version 1.33.3*

I love playing Tacticus based on Warhammer 40k and was intrigued when I saw this was from the same studio.
It is just the same game but with a fantasy element, so the skills and knowledge are easily transferable.
It’s a no brainer

### 5/5 — Awesome 🤩
