### 2/5 — Get your priorities, right

*2026-07-29*

The Rivian assistant is a good idea in theory. The problem is the Rivian software is so unstable that one would think they have higher priorities. I would sincerely appreciate it if Rivian could get saved seat positions working consistently before they continue putting so much effort into the assistant. The infotainment center crashes on me 12 times a week. They could fix that? Or how about correcting all of the highway assist maps? If I had a nickel for every time I was told a road was ending when it wasn’t… the assistant itself is disappointing. She cuts you off when you are speaking sometimes mid word. The wake words never work period.

### 3/5 — Live activities doesn’t work right

*2026-07-26, version 3.14.0*

They should be able to fix this.

### 2/5 — Why??

*2026-07-25, version 3.14.0*

Why would you take out the AM/FM radio receiver from the R2? Have you never gone into the woods and lost cellular connectivity? How much more could it possibly cost to have a traditional radio receiver? Instead users have to go through a third party app & listen to their adds & the radio station’s adds. Way to take a step back in advancement.

### 2/5 — Bugs after bugs

*2026-07-24, version 3.14.0*

So many bugs with this app

### 4/5 — Service support messaging bug

*2026-07-22, version 3.14.0*

I cannot read the full message left by service technician or reply to it. Message syncing fails also mentions outside of business hours? Technician showing up to my house and I am not able to correspond.

### 2/5 — Charging Live Activity Broken

*2026-07-20, version 3.14.0*

I used to be able to rely on the live action charging widget to provide accurate information, but in the last few months (at least), it has been completely wrong. I’ve been hoping someone would notice and fix this, but am disappointed that it hasn’t been addressed. Charging is one of the most important things as an EV owner and if you don’t care enough to see this is wrong, what other bugs/problems exist that I haven’t encountered yet?

### 2/5 — App updated yet R2 still missing from Trip Planner vehicle selection

*2026-07-14, version 3.14.0*

Only available options are R1S and R1T

### 3/5 — Watch battery killer

*2026-06-26, version 3.13.1*

The app functionality is great. Everything about it works as I would hope. However, leaving the app open on my watch causes a fully charged 6 month old Series 9 to go from 100% to 0% in about 3 1/2 hours. Not sure what causes that, but it is not great to have to remember to close the app after using it.

### 4/5 — Latest update broke media uploads

*2026-06-23, version 3.13.1*

I can no longer upload pics or media to my service tickets post this app update.

### 3/5 — Key support is horrible

*2026-06-12, version 3.13.0*

Effectively always gets who’s in the drive seat wrong. Moves the seat if you get out of the driver’s seat to whomever is in the passenger seat, doesn’t return your seat to you when you get in on the driver’s door. Basically everything that UWB was supposed to solve is worse, not better.

Also needs the ability to change AC charging amps directly in the app.

### 4/5 — Live activities not working after update

*2026-06-04, version 3.12.1*

Good app, but the charging status on live activities needs to refresh more often after the recent update.

### 3/5 — apple watch app / key issues

*2026-05-31, version 3.12.1*

the apple watch car key functionality seems to have broken in the latest update. i previously was able to open the apple watch key and use the lock / unlock button, which was useful at home where i have passive entry set to lock only. now when i open the key on apple watch there is no lock/unlock button so i cannot use the watch to unlock my car at home. furthermore it seems like it is not possible to add a complication to the watch face that will simply open the rivian watch app - which would be very useful for quick access to the app on the watch without having to scroll the apps list.

### 2/5 — Now slower and buggier

*2026-05-24, version 3.12.1*

The Rivian app has always been a bit mid. This reached a whole new level of issue since the Rivian “intelligence” rollout. I got a buggy AI assistant I don’t want in exchange for:
- painful 30s-1min wake-ups to unlock the car I am standing next to and just locked
- even more unreliable multi-factor drive
- constant nags to connect data my car should never need
- a slow and poorly animated “AI” to incorrectly search for Spotify songs

### 3/5 — I wish it had CarPlay

*2026-05-16, version 3.12.0*

The Rivian is a great car. My only big gripe is that without CarPlay it’s like going back in time ten years on the media experience.

They’ve built their own versions of Maps, Spotify, etc, and none of them are very good. AND they charge you $15/month to use them.

My only other big gripe with the car is the doors don’t open when you walk up to it. You have to touch your phone to the door.

### 3/5 — Fix 3.11.1

*2026-05-10, version 3.11.1*

App shows car not charging on phone Home Screen. App shows car unplugged in app energy.

### 2/5 — Widget broke

*2026-04-25, version 3.11.0*

This recent update broke my home screen widget which was the primary way I had used the app. Now I just see a black box.

### 1/5 — Latest update broke public charging

*2026-04-20, version 3.11.0*

Latest update broke public charging. Nothing happens after selecting the charger. App is completely useless. Actually do QA before you release and break public charging at Rivian chargers!

### 1/5 — Why is it so hard to charge with low level chargers?

*2026-04-18, version 3.11.0*

It says “plug in to charge” ok, plug in, won’t charge. Says “select charger to start charging” ok, I select the charger no option to start just says “charger available”

Can’t you just be like charge point and just let us tap and plug in? Why these extra steps that most of the time DON’T WORK? Location: Las Vegas Town Square

This app/charger for low level is almost always terrible but now it’s just unusable.

### 4/5 — Bugs in this version

*2026-04-17, version 3.11.0*

The latest version no longer updates on the iPhone lock screen. It shows time to charge and state of charge but never updates.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Don’t need the app

*2026-08-14, version 3.15.1*

Shouldn’t need the app to pay at the kiosk but kiosk was not taking payments. Took almost 30m to download and set up.

### 1/5 — App is subpar

*2026-08-01, version 3.14.0*

I’ve had multiple vehicles in the past, where the app is a central hub for the vehicle. This app sucks!

It freezes, doesn’t respond when needed (starting car on hot days), takes over a minute to respond when approaching vehicle.

I would not recommend

### 1/5 — Like what’s even the point

*2026-07-22, version 3.14.0*

Seriously why. What’s so hard about just tapping and paying for charging??? Why does every electric charger need an app??? We as a society wanna promote EV cars but make is sooooo hard to own one! It’s like you’re telling me to burn down the Amazon rain forest myself with how annoying and convoluted this stupid app is!! I just wanna charge my car!

### 1/5 — Useless

*2026-07-16, version 3.14.0*

App is useless and won’t even let me create an account.

### 1/5 — Something went wrong

*2026-07-04, version 3.13.1*

Try again later….

### 1/5 — Generally good but can be needlessly complicated or opaque

*2026-06-28, version 3.13.1*

There’s a concept of digital keys vs phone keys. A digital key is better because it uses UWB instead of regular Bluetooth, and it can be extended to your watch. I really want this feature! I want to be free of my iPhone. But the app won’t let me set it up as a digital key. It’s extremely opaque, it provides exactly no information about why the option isn’t presented to me. I spent a good half an hour talking with a customer service agent and he couldn’t figure it out either.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2026-06-18, version 3.13.0*

I’m in the Yosemite valley. I need a charge. This garbage app only makes me “plan a trip” I don’t need to plan Shht! I need a charge!

### 1/5 — Lost highway drive assist

*2026-05-28, version 3.12.1*

With the recent update I can’t use seemingly any divided highway in Nova Scotia with highway assist, it only works if I buy the Autonomy+ subscription which is marketed as additional roads but not required for highways, which is disappointing as I can’t even use it on highways anymore without having to pay

### 1/5 — BEWARE!

*2026-05-13, version 3.12.0*

I downloaded the latest app update as well as the vehicle 2026.15.0 update within the last 48 hours. By coincidence I also bought a new smart phone. I now am able to access and drive the vehicle ONLY with a physical key card. I cannot add or delete a digital key through either the app or the Apple wallet. It seems Rivian failed to do all the quality control work on the back end to make sure the little things still worked before rolling out major software updates. What a crock.

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2026-05-06, version 3.11.1*

The app is basically useless on Gen1 vehicles, which is an obvious sign of how Rivian will run in the future with forced obsolescence. Proximity is buggy and aggressive - sometimes it responds to proximity, other times it doesn’t. If you have proximity on, you CANNOT use any of the remote functions when you’re not close to the vehicle. If you have proximity turned off, the remote app is hit or miss. I have prompted for a frunk open, and the app sent the request 10 minutes later.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-07-16, version 3.14.0*

Amazing

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-02-20, version 3.9.0*

Great app. Simple. Easy to use. I can tell a lot of effort went into the UI. I can’t think of anything to improve, but I love all the meaningful updates they provide. Keep up the great work Rivian!

### 5/5 — Cold climate.

*2025-12-24, version 3.8.1*

The app is great for the most part. It’s well designed. And updated on a regular basis. How’s lots of useful tools and widgets that allow me to schedule my charges schedule my Climate as well as plan my route well and then send it over to my Rivian. Good job. Keep up the good work.

### 5/5 — Add preconditioning

*2025-12-13, version 3.8.0*

Need to be able to set battery preconditioning from the app. Pls add that the app since it takes a while for battery to precondition.

### 5/5 — The best truck I’ve ever owned!

*2025-11-01, version 3.6.1*

The customer service is really good and it’s an amazing truck.

### 5/5 — Works great

*2025-10-22, version 3.6.0*

I’ve never had any issues. The app works great from setting the climate to sending navigation I really enjoy all the functionality built into the app. 2022 Launch Edition r1t quad.

### 5/5 — Resilient and easy

*2025-10-21, version 3.6.0*

This all is so simple and convenient. The progress Rivian is made to update the app as well as many other items, including proximity locking, sound quality, and the list goes on shows they love their customers. A huge fan of this app!

### 5/5 — PaaK is worth the price of admission!

*2025-07-17, version 3.3.0*

Allowing my iPhone to act as a PaaK (phone as a key) for my Rivian is enough to make this app a must have - but it does so much more! Accessing Gear Guard cameras, remote activation of A/C, remotely “cracking” the windows, remotely viewing cabin temperature, and now integration with Google Maps and more! Excellent App from a fantastic manufacturer!

### 5/5 — Excellent App—Continues to Amaze

*2025-07-05, version 3.1.0*

Actually more stable than the other mfgs apps I have experienced. I am very impressed with RIVIAN and the rapid progress they are making in development of a class A total experience.

### 5/5 — Owner

*2025-06-07, version 3.1.0*

I love this app it so easy
