## What is RO CEI Toolkit?

RO CEI Toolkit is a native app for working with your Romanian Carte de identitate electronică (CEI). Sign PDFs with PAdES B-B signatures, verify signed documents, optionally read data from your card’s chip, and keep everything in a local archive on your device.

Built for privacy: your signing PIN is never stored, your private key never leaves the card, and no account or cloud upload is required. Card communication and PDF handling stay on your device wherever the platform allows it.

SIGN PDFs
• Pick a PDF and sign it with your CEI
• Uses your card’s signing key, protected by CAN and signing PIN
• Produces PAdES B-B detached signatures compatible with common PDF tools
• Signed files are saved automatically to your on-device archive

VERIFY SIGNATURES
• Check PAdES signatures with bundled Romanian trust anchors
• Review trust chain, CMS compatibility, and OCSP where applicable
• Works without a card or PIN

READ CEI
• Read personal data held on your CEI chip with CAN and read PIN
• On iPhone, read chip data via NFC
• On iPad and Mac, read chip data via a USB smart-card reader

ARCHIVE
• Browse, preview, share, and delete signed PDFs
• Each device keeps its own local archive

Requirements: Romanian Electronic Identity Card (CEI), CAN, and the appropriate PINs. iPhone signing and reading require NFC. iPad and Mac signing and reading require a compatible USB smart-card reader.

- Visible seal placement:
When signing a multi-page PDF, choose where the seal appears: first page, all pages, even pages, odd pages, or last page. The document still carries a single cryptographic signature.

- A refreshed app icon for a cleaner, more modern look, ready for iOS/iPadOS 27.
