Get a new app or make a deal with Apple to be on the News+ app…. I travel a lot and like to download magazine for plane travel, but this app is the most frustrating…magazine that are downloaded right before I leave the house disappear off Wi-Fi , making this app worthless. Worst of all, it’s been going on for years…I keep hopping for an update but I think I’ll just cancel the sub. ### 1/5 — Online only *2017-12-25, version 32* I used to enjoy reading this on airplanes. The download and offline features have not worked for at least a year. I have quit reading as much, and will not renew if it is still broken. I would give the app -1 star if I could. Laggy and buggy fails to open quite a bit. If you are like me and travel forget trying to use it on a plane. Says downloaded but it really does not. Try to download again but still nothing opens. This has been going on for over a year. Completely unfunctional. Downloads are lost. Re-downloading takes hours. I'm subscribed to multiple magazines, this reader is the worst. This app is terrible, it crashes with almost every page turn, it's so frustrating to read that I regret subscribing to this magazine. And even on those rare occasions that I am able to actually progress a few pages without a crash, when it does inevitabilly crash, it resets to where I was before I started reading, causing me to have to move pages forward each time with causes, your guessed it, more crashes! What I'm upset about is that these adds are commercial adds and they start playing as soon as you get within a page of it. Since then when I click on the magazine in my Newstand, it pops up "Upgrading Database". A status bar shows up at the top, and barely moves. I leave my tablet thinking this will take a while. Come back, OK its done. Click on the magazine in my Newstand, it starts all over. Previously downloaded issues will frequently and mysteriously become unavailable when you are reading off-line. Perhaps more frustrating than that, frequently, attempts to download issues go like this. Download percentage approaches 70%. Then, instead of receiving a “downloaded” message, closing the issue shows that it is still in “download” status, rather than “open” status- meaning the issue hasn’t downloaded. I have found that the only way to resolve this problem is to delete the app, download the app again, and then log in again. This should not be necessary, and often makes me wonder why I continue to punish myself trying to access the magazine this way. Probably should look for other content delivery options. In summary, considering the number of years this app has been around, I would say it is a solid one star app. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Finally got it to work... *2013-08-02, version 3.0.12* The new update would keep crashing the App upon opening. I was informed to delete and reinstall the app. That seemed to have done the trick, at first I thought I lost all my purchases, but then I realized I forgot to log back into my account.
