## What is Road to Permit?

Road to Permit turns studying for the US learner's permit knowledge test into a short daily road trip.

One payment, no subscription, no ads. Your first five missions are free, and Road to Permit Plus is a one-time purchase that unlocks every question and every practice exam in every state in the app.

ABOUT TEN MINUTES A DAY
Choose your state and your test date. The app builds a study plan up to that day and takes you on a road trip through your state, one short mission at a time. Questions you find hard come back until they stick.

PRACTICE EXAMS
Practice exams follow the official format in Florida, the published question count and pass mark in New York, New Jersey and Illinois, and the published pass mark in California and Texas, so you can judge when you are ready.

IN ENGLISH OR SEVEN OTHER LANGUAGES
Every question is in English. The app is available in English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, Haitian Creole, Russian, Ukrainian and Hebrew. Florida and New York questions are explained in all of these languages; Texas, California, New Jersey and Illinois questions in English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish and Russian.

SIX STATES, MORE COMING
Florida, New York, California, Texas, New Jersey and Illinois. Change your state in Settings; each state keeps its own progress.

FREE TO START, PLUS ONCE
Start for free, no account needed. Plus belongs to your account, so you sign in before you buy, with Apple or with your e-mail address; your progress and Plus then follow you to every device where you sign in to that account. You can also ask the AI instructor about a question or a rule, in your language: without Plus about the free questions, with Plus about every question. It is an AI and can be wrong, and your state's driver handbook decides.

Your data is never sold.

Road to Permit is an independent study app by Cloud Connected. It is not affiliated with FLHSMV, any DMV or any government agency. For the official rules, read your state's driver handbook:

### 3/5 — Looks great!

*2026-10-16*

Looks great and seems to be an really friendly way to prepare for the exam

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4 — 2026-10-21

What's new in 1.4

Illinois
Illinois is the sixth state in the app, with its questions, its practice exams and a road trip from Cairo to Rockford.

Clearer messages when a purchase cannot finish
If buying Plus does not go through, the Plus screen now tells you why: your Apple Account already bought Plus for another account in the app, the purchase is waiting for approval or payment, or the App Store took your purchase but we could not record it yet. In that case, tap Restore purchases or open the app again.

### 1.3 — 2026-10-19

What's new in 1.3

New Jersey
New Jersey is the fifth state in the app, with its questions, its practice exams and a road trip from Cape May to Jersey City.

A faster start
Choose your language and your state, and a short opening takes you straight into a first drive of five questions. You plan your route to the test after it.

Trip tickets right away
With Plus, you can now take a bonus road trip as soon as you win its ticket, whatever is left of the day's plan.

A clearer Plus screen
The Plus screen now shows what Plus adds for your state and, at the end of the free missions, how many of the free questions you got right. If you sign in to buy Plus, it opens again where you were.

The AI instructor for every learner
The AI instructor is now free: without Plus it discusses the free questions, with Plus every question, in your language. It is an AI and can be wrong, and your state's driver handbook decides.

### 1.2 — 2026-10-15

With Plus you can also ask the AI instructor about a question or a rule, in your language; it is an AI and can be wrong, and the official handbook decides.

### 1.1 — 2026-10-14

What's new in 1.1

Sign in with your e-mail
Besides Sign in with Apple, you can now sign in with your e-mail address and a 6-digit code we send to it. There is no password. Sign in with the same address on another device and your progress and Plus are there too.

Change your state
Settings > Your state switches between Florida, New York, California and Texas. Each state keeps its own route, postcards, practice exams, exam date and plan, so you can switch back and carry on where you left off. Your streak, XP and achievements stay with you.

Sounds and short animations
Sounds for taps, right and wrong answers and the end of a mission, and short animations for answer streaks and passed practice exams. Turn the sounds off in Settings > Sounds.

Texas and California in more languages
Texas and California questions are now explained in Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish and Russian as well as English. The questions themselves stay in English.

AI instructor in Plus
With Plus, ask the AI instructor about a question or a rule, in your language. It is an AI and can be wrong; the official handbook decides. Report an answer that looks wrong right in the chat.

Practice exams whenever you want
With Plus, start a practice exam from the Exams tab whenever you want. An exam handed in with questions unanswered earns XP for its right answers only.

Clearer missions
The map and each mission now say what a mission holds and whether it moves your car. Missions keep moving you along the route even with reviews piling up.

Also new
New questions and content fixes now arrive without an app update. Rate Road to Permit any time in Settings > Account. Settings > About links to roadtopermit.com, with study guides for every state.
