## What is Road to Shodan?

How close do you play to dan-level Go?

Road to Shodan puts you in the stronger player's seat. You replay games between a dan level player and a kyu level player, and at every turn you guess the dan's move. Each guess is measured by win rate against deep KataGo analysis, so you always know whether your move held dan strength, and by how much it missed when it didn't.

GUESS THE DAN'S MOVE
• 100 complete, fully analyzed games, from 1 Dan to 5 Dan, against opponents from 20 Kyu to 1 Kyu.
• Match or beat the dan and the move counts toward your Dan Level %, the share of your moves that held dan strength.
• Miss, and Challenge Mode asks you to find a strong move before the game moves on. Your first guess is the one that counts.
• Play as Black or White.

SEE WHY THE BETTER MOVE WINS
• When the kyu goes wrong, Compare shows both futures side by side: the game where the mistake is punished, and the game as it should have gone.
• Watch the difference unfold move by move at 5 Dan, 7 Dan and 9 Dan strength.

PROBLEMS FROM THE GAMES
• Ranked Problems are mistakes by kyu level players. You take their side and find the stronger move.
• Your own misses collect in a Mistakes list, ready to drill until you have mastered them.
• Practice at your level gives you short sets of problems matched to where you are.
• Three separate ladders start at 15 Kyu and climb as you improve.

PLAY A FRIEND
• Two players, one iPhone or iPad, face to face. Each player's controls turn toward them.
• Each player picks how much help to see: Coaching, Score only or Blind.
• When the game ends, see who played better, replay the whole game, and go through both players' mistakes in turn.

KNOW YOUR LEVEL
• After each game, see which rank your moves looked like.
• Your Level on the home screen is read from the games you finish.
• Daily XP and a streak keep the habit going.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No account. No ads. No tracking. The app collects no data.

### 1.1 — 2026-10-10

• Play a friend on this device: two players, one iPhone or iPad, face to face. Each picks Coaching, Score only or Blind; an End-at bar, 90 to 99%, can end a decided game early. When the game ends, see who played better, replay the whole game, or go through both players' mistakes in turn on one board that turns to face whoever made the mistake. Two friend games a day are free; Pro makes them unlimited.
• Explore, with Pro: choose who answers your moves, see what players of different strengths would play next, and keep your own Good, Alternate and Bad lines on each of your mistakes.
• Problems: a new P column ranks each problem by how much it needs review, from your tries and how long since the last one; Mistakes and Favorites open in that order, and Drill 5 worst picks by it. A Miss column shows your last three tries. Long press P to see how the ladder works.
• Mistake drills: a green seal on every correct answer.
• The friend game and the new Explore features need an iPhone or iPad with 4 GB of memory or more.
