I paid for a five year subscription and they never made a remarkable mobile update, not once. Switching to Obsidian because I’m tired of my note taking crippled by slow loading times and a janky interface. The Mac app is Electron, and it’s underwhelming too. ### 2/5 — Needs some work *2025-05-04, version 1.1.5* It take roughly 12-15 seconds to open the app, load a nearly empty graph and begin typing. By that time I’ve long forgotten what I wanted to type. I like Roam, and what it’s trying to do but unfortunately it’s next to unusable on mobile. At least give a chance for people to try out rather than asking straight money. It doesn’t make sense anymore. It consistently saps productivity. Countless usability issues make authoring any form or length of writing cumbersome. Because of this, I now often first use a different application (such as Apple Notes, Google Docs, etc.) to perform the majority of my work; only after I create the bulk of the content I need to produce do I then transfer it into Roam. I’ve tried a few different apps, but Roam is the best! The mobile experience is amazing, and navigating between your bookmarks is easy and interactive. The team has worked hard to provide an amazing mobile experience and I’m very happy with this one. Encrypted graphs can be unlocked using Face ID, you can switch between native view, and more! The support team is also very helpful and friendly. Today I discovered the “native view” and it’s everything I wanted on the mobile app. No more startup delay, fully responsive, and very native-like. Ive been using it since 2020 and its been rock solid for me. The initial hype at its launch has waned considerably, but I still find it faster, easier, and more effective than its competitors. If you’re new or haven’t tried it in a while, I highly encourage you to give it a shot. It actually has full Roam functionality unlike competitors like Tana that can only do quick capture. ### 5/5 — This app is my Second Brain *2022-09-22, version 1.0.20* Forget Evernote, Notion, and any clones out there. Before Roam I was collecting notes and never going back to them, my Evernote and Apple Notes were packed with a useless mess of text, and tagging never helped. ADHD always made it hard for me to organize and remember where I put things in my notes. Roam is completely different. The app intelligently links your notes into a graph and builds up connections over time, so the bigger your collection the more useful it is! It’s relieving to know that you can trust the system and never worry about forgetting things ever again. Roam Research is the most intuitive and powerful tool for note taking, research, zettlekasten, ontology, project management, relational and graph modelling, interstitial journaling, get-it-done productivity, and tracing your thoughts/thinking back to the source. The “Daily Notes” page is brilliant and is eventually going to be copied by every other note app. Every page and line of text is linked together, and you can add a ToDo anywhere in your notes which is fantastic for keeping in the flow of your work. I can’t recommend this app enough, it will completely change your thinking about notes and productivity. ### 5/5 — Amazing but some feedback to make it better *2022-09-18, version 1.0.20* I’m a big fan. This has changed my life so much and so much better than Notion or notes app. The biggest gripe I have is selecting a graph and entering my password each time I have to open my graph. If I have entered it once on my device, could it just take me to daily notes on my last used graph?
