So glad I gave it a test run. I’ll trim my spending on something less worthwhile. The app offers way more than I expected and worth every penny. ### 5/5 — Best Non-biased News Account *2026-01-04, version 1.37.1* Love their content and what they cover. They explore different regions of the USA as well as all over the globe. But now everything is locked behind a paywall. And I get it, you have to make money somehow. It was my go to for news and learning my daily things. But recently my favorite segment, happy hour news, has been put behind a paywall. The three maxes story is both incredible and inspiring. It keeps me informed without the endless doomscrolling, and I really appreciate that the Roca team prioritizes clear, non-biased reporting. I actually look forward to reading the news now! My husband and I go through it together every day — the polls and trivia always spark great conversations. Roca makes staying up-to-date both enjoyable and meaningful, and the random deep dives into history and lesser-known world events are a fun bonus. The middle. ### 5/5 — Perfect news app - objective, interesting, and entertaining *2025-10-16, version 1.36.6* I've been following Roca on Instagram for a while and joined the app in its beta stage, ever since I downloaded the app it's become a great part of my daily routine. Roca handles plenty of controversial news with a level of objectivity and balance i don't see elsewhere, which is really amazing in this day and age. All the stories are always super interesting, whether I'm getting more details on something I already know or finding about a totally new thing. I've learned so much from the app. And if you don't think the news can be fun, think again—stories are consistently written in engaging ways, and bonus features like polls, Globe Trotter, or Word Worm make it all the more entertaining. I also really love how the Roca team really listens to and cares about their users—there are plenty of things lesser devs could've done to increase profit or make their jobs easier, but Roca focuses on the best possible experience for users and really does listen to feedback. I totally get needing to have paid content, but Roça just paywalled a bunch of content on the app that used to be free. Now, it offers no more content than their Insta page which makes it useless to have unless you’re a paying subscriber. Again, I understand needing to have subscription content that brings in money, but don’t make it what we’ve been getting for free for years. Recently almost every single article is behind the subscriber paywall (the app won’t tell you which ones until you click on them which is very annoying).
