### 5/5 — Wow

*2013-11-01*

Amazing. My son loves spelling and building a rocket. A must get for nursery children.

### 5/5 — Only spelling game my son will play

*2013-10-07, version 3.2*

He likes building a rocket and flying it, and provide a little bit of that with spelling. More apps please!

### 5/5 — Great, but please no potty words

*2013-10-04, version 3.2*

My 120 first grade tech students love this app. The only improvements I can suggest are to include high frequency words or Dolch sight words, and to have the game default to level 1 on a soft close.

### 5/5 — Love

*2013-07-21*

My son is obsessed with this game-I don't let him use the iPad often but as soon as I do he opens this app over all the others, including popular tv program's.

### 4/5 — Great Tool

*2013-06-20, version 3.1*

My son (born April 2010) loves to play with this app. I love the fact there are different levels to grow with the child. I wish there was a report card option for parents. I would like to see how my child is doing and where he needs help.

### 4/5 — Excellent learning game!

*2013-04-03*

Easy to use and play. Great way to learn!

### 5/5 — great well designed and entertaining app, starting easy with excellent progression through levels

*2013-03-24*

A simple spelling game but totally engaging for my 4 year old. My son was over the moon to discover new rocket designs at each level, totally engaged in the game. Well done on your fantastic yet simple design. Each word comes with a beautifully simple image and lots of repetition of letter names. I love the lack of adverts and no push to upgrade, the fact the game is free and totally stand alone. I will be buying the plus version just to support the development of more resources and I am yet to use all the free levels. I recommend this app for anyone looking to engage young learners in spelling, and it's free so try it and see what you think.

### 5/5 — Super app

*2013-02-20, version 3.1*

My reading tutorial students love this app. I never mind letting them use the iPad when I can engage them in learning. Bravo to you!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2013-02-09, version 3.1*

### 5/5 — Fantastic Learning App

*2013-01-27*

My 2 and a half year old LOVES this app, and I love watching him learn his letters in a fun, engaging environment. Will be upgrading for sure when he is ready to progress beyond the first level!

Graphics, animation, voice overs and overall production value are above average for this kind of app.

### 4/5 — Awesome

*2013-01-21*

We got this app this morning and my 5 years old son loves it. Thanks for a great way to practice spelling.

### 5/5 — Best free spelling and reading app out there!

*2013-01-20*

After trying many of the free spelling/reading apps available I was so glad to find this one. There is lots of word variety, multiple levels and fun little reward breaks where my son gets to build and launch a rocket into space. All of this while learning to recognize words and spell. He had a blast and I loved watching him enjoy every minute. He was giggling at the aliens cute voice some others might not like it, that's a great reason to try out the free on first before upgrading.

### 5/5 — Love it

*2013-01-15, version 3.0*

My kids fight over who gets to play next! I wish there were more levels and would happily buy them. The kids love to try to build a different ship each time. They don't seem to notice that they are doing any work. Great app! Kids are 4 & 8.

### 5/5 — Sped teacher approved!

*2013-01-14, version 3.0*

I teach language delayed students one on one (all ages). I stumbled upon this app and wow! I was surprised how much my kids loved it! My three yr old loves matching the letters to spell ( first audible word was star!) my elementary kiddos don't realize they are reading and spelling but request this game by name! Even my low high schoolers enjoy this though not as enthusiastically as my younger kiddos. My only " complaint" is I would love to have word lists so their vocab words could be practiced also but I won't vote it down any! This app makes my life a lot easier! Thank you so much!!! If you can get Zip to make sentence writing or math skills this much fun my kids ( and i) would love it!!!!

Sincerely,
A special Ed teacher

### 5/5 — Superb

*2013-01-14*

Well designed educational app, with appealing grahics and game play, thanks for making it free.

### 5/5 — Great

*2013-01-13*

Both my 2 and 4 year old love playing this game. It's simple, but effective. What's more it's free and there's no ads, you can't go wrong. Thanks.

### 5/5 — Fun, engaging and free!

*2013-01-12, version 3.0*

This is a great way to encourage my 4.5 year old to delve further into the world of words. Well done to the designers of this app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Worst app

*2017-01-14, version 3.8*

Is this really worth a $. It hardly has few words and it keeps repeating the same words. Literally not at all a worth a penny.

### 1/5 — Looks fun BUT

*2012-05-09*

This looked really good until I got to spelling the words. In school the children start with using phonics and only use letter names for words that can not be sounded out such as 'to' . Because of this I could not use this app with my children :-(

### 2/5 — Enjoyable, but...

*2013-01-11*

My son enjoys this spelling game a lot, it is just a shame that the pronunciation and some words are part of the American English vocable... An option to switch to British English or a warning on the apps description would be highly appreciated.

### 2/5 — Hmmm...

*2012-03-05*

Good points: Possible to choose between upper/lower case presentation. Engaging and fun.

Let down: only uses letter names so unsuitable for learning phonics - which seems a major oversight as this is how most kids start to learn now, but great once they move on from phonics to letter names.

Bad point: Only suitable for American users. Give us the option to record in English and we'll take the time to use it.

Overall, this could be great and my son loves it, but I've had to delete it because it will be confusing for him.

Shame.

### 2/5 — Good Application but crashes after installing update

*2012-03-02, version 1.3*

This is a great application, but it keeps crashing after I installed the update and on some of the words one of the letters doesn't show up on the ipod touch screen. My daughter gets mad because she has to start over every time this happens. It always happens on the long words. If this were fixed, I would give it five stars.

### 2/5 — Rocket speller

*2012-01-15*

Where is the sound? Useless without sound,

### 3/5 — Need to be able to input words

*2012-12-15, version 2.1*

This would be a great way to study for spelling words for the the weekly test, if we could put our own words in or select from the words in a list.

### 3/5 — Great App but needs more words!

*2012-03-10, version 1.3*

My son loves this app but he needs more words. He mastered all levels in one day. He keeps playing because he likes to build the rocket and likes the alien animations.

### 4/5 — Review. My child loves this game

*2016-07-09*

Great game

### 4/5 — Needs more words

*2014-02-26*

A great app but needs more words/new words and a option for Australian spelling

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — This game almost brought me To tears from playing it after 12 years.

*2024-07-26*

I was in the mood and missed my childhood and decided to replay this game. I remember playing this game all the time as a child. I remember trying my best to spell the words right on the hardest level, trying to mix and match up the rocket ships, getting frustrated when I couldn’t collect that one star and the end… Playing this game really brought the memories back where I didn’t worry about a thing and life was good and you didn’t overthink about whether or not your life mattered if you never lived to see another day or if You really could get that dream job or live feeling as if life would ever make me as happy as I was again In the old days playing this game. parents if you are reading this, please consider getting this game for your younger child, but make sure they also experience the joy of youth and experience the world. Thank you for reading. Wonderful game. Very nostalgic. Would recommend.

### 5/5 — My three boys love this app
