By contrast our little plus in portable radiation from TCP allow me to just click on for an hour to warm a room. It just tries to be too clever without actually delivering the basics. ### 2/5 — Failure to pair *2025-03-01, version 2.5.8* On initial set up 18 months ago the product paired successfully and whilst the app was too complex for my use, it allowed me to control my water heater remotely and manage the programme via the app (it’s difficult on the actual product). However, trying to pair again after getting a new phone and a new app installation, it will not pair and so I’m left with a dumb water heater that has to be manually controlled which is less than ideal. ### 2/5 — Snaggy *2025-02-05, version 2.5.8* Product works perfectly ok but the app is snappy and I struggle to get a meaningful understanding of the temperature of the water in my tank versus what actual comes out of the shower. ### 3/5 — Still no 30 minute option *2024-12-26, version 2.5.8* Great hardware. This proved not to be the case. Not simple but not impossible either. Took about 10 mins and mostly because I had put my wifi password in wrong in the first try. ### 1/5 — Terrible out of the ark app *2024-04-11, version 2.4.2* I’ve 5 heaters in a rented house. Each heater can only be programmed with two temperatures Eco or comfort during the day or three if you count ‘off’ as one. The app doesn’t allow for anything else. Unbelievable in this day and age that such an expensive brand can think it’s ok to have such useless functionality. Would actively discourage buying Rointe for rental properties. ### 2/5 — Poor App *2024-03-31, version 2.4.2* The app really does let down these great radiators hugely. The lack of a boost feature means it’s too easy to switch to manual and then forget to turn back to auto - such a basic function as Hive etc have. Timing slots of 1 hour rather than specific timing another demerit. No holiday mode to switch on when away. And trying to use a manual controller(for those without a smart phone or the app) with the tiny radiator screen is well nigh impossible. Surely a update to address these fundamental capabilities is required, or is that somehow impossible with the inbuilt software - a worrying thought? ### 1/5 — App lets the heaters down!!! *2024-03-12, version 2.4.2* App is awful. Decided when it wants to work and when. Tells me my password isn’t correct when it is. When it does work, will only work in WiFi then throws the whole thing out and I’ve to reconfigure all the heaters again!!! Soooo frustrating ### 3/5 — IMPORTANT information to make the app work *2024-02-17, version 2.4.2* I left a 1 star review for this app, but I’ve now found workarounds for most of the bugs and updated to a 3 star review. The most important thing to note is that when you have completed the set up of your radiator it says “wait at least 30 seconds before pressing the button”. DO NOT PRESS THE BUTTON until you’ve waited at least 3 minutes. This is so annoying because if you press before 3 minutes the app gets stuck and you have to start all over again. Also if you choose a password with special characters it will tell you that your password is incorrect when you try and log in again. Just use a simple password. This applies to your WiFi network password, it will omit any special characters if you choose to save the password to add multiple radiators, which is a pain. Setting up the heating programme is clunky but you get used to it. It’s annoying that if you switch to manual it never switches back to auto again. With a bit of work this app could be very good. ### 1/5 — Has this even been tested *2024-01-30, version 2.4.1* Does not allow you to enter home address which is a required field to actually set the damn thing up - therefore as much use as a chocolate teapot. ### 3/5 — My use is simple *2024-01-20, version 2.4.1* As the title suggests, all I need it to do is turn the heaters on and off with my phone, and it does that, but what I’d really like to do is do that with Siri, NOT Google or Alexa. Just add Matter support, then I can create my automations in  Home and life will be simple once more……. ### 1/5 — Blimey- App needs upgrading *2024-01-19, version 2.4.0* The app reminds me of iPhone apps from 16 year ago. It’s dated, lacks useful features and needs a serious overhaul. Maybe look a the Nest App as a starting guide. Add a boost function so you can easily set the heater to come on for few hours then switch off. If I knew how poor the app was I wouldn’t have bought my two heaters. It’s that bad. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — What should be simple is made complex *2025-04-19, version 2.5.8* The Rointe D range are great heaters. I have had them for 5 years. Possibly the worst overcomplicated user interface I have seen. It needs on/off and temperature. Everything else should be under ‘advanced’. Whenever there is a firmware update the app loses connection. Until a boost function is available I can't recommend these radiators to others. When it works, it is ok, however, it works inconsistently. The timer function does not work at all and there is no boost function. It is currently the highest battery using app on my phone. ### 5/5 — Easy set up -manual outdated *2020-11-21, version 2.1.5* The manual isn’t the best and needs to be clearer about how to set up but I set 8 radiators up in a about 30 mins . There manual is unclear about one step that threw me but then once I realised what I was doing wrong, all good. It gives easy and great controls over your system , programming is super easy and effective . Nice to control various zones from the comfort of your armchair .we almost didn’t but the series D because of the app reviews but now really glad we did as they are great radiators ### 4/5 — Delta towel rail *2024-12-10, version 2.4.5* Since Saturday just gone I have lost App functionality to control rad, my other Delta rads unaffected. I have tried to reconfigure towel rad as new product but dialogue box states hearing product has not been configured correctly. Straight forward to use and works well ### 4/5 — Easy to use but lacks finesse *2022-11-04, version 2.2.2* I have found using Rointe control to be very easy. Setting up, programming and monitoring all work really well. The interface is slick and easy to get the information you require from. However, there are a couple of functions that seem to be lacking. Firstly you can only control one hour timeslot which makes it difficult to minimise the warmup time for a heated zone. Other heating control systems will allow you minute by minute control making timing far more accurate. The second issue is that I can see no setting to make the automatic programming override manual changes. This means that if the temperature is adjusted it will remain at that temperature continue manually switch the zone back to automatic. A better solution would be that the control app overrides manual settings so that a zone drops back to its programmed temperature, and follows the programmed schedule rather than remaining set at the manual override. ### 4/5 — Rointe D series WiFi setup *2021-11-07, version 2.1.5* First of installation was easy and simple with the supplied template and instruction. Now on to the App and wifi setup. First of the manual instructions were not great, however with a bit of patience and time I figured it out. The first time I tried I was informed my router security settings needed changing which I did. I then managed to setup the radiator and at the final step when prompted to accept the changes the app would say unsuccessful, a quick call to support solved this as the radiator needs to have a successful wifi connection which is shown on the display and can take a minute before you hit accept changes. The first radiator set up fine. However on to the next one and after doing all the steps the wifi signal on the display had an x, another call to support and was told the display panel needs changing. Thinking that was weird I redid the setup and this time it worked. The next few radiators again would show the x next to wifi however in the end they all connected. I guess it’s a communication issue. Once you try to do the setup the 2nd time is a lot quicker as you already have the radiator details on your wifi setup either on your phone or iPad etc. Once setup the app worked a treat, no issues so far. I have even used it a work to switch on all the radiators for when I got home. Remember it only works on the 2.4ghz wifi and the security settings may need changing on your router, I set up with wifi extenders as well with no issues. ### 4/5 — Very happy *2020-01-12, version 2.1.1* I don’t usually leave reviews but felt I should because my experience is so different to the only other one (at time of writing). Initially I was a little unsure as I expected more guidance from the towel rail’s manual than there was. But as soon as I’d installed the app and followed the simple process it was a breeze. I only had to get down on my knees by the tft screen on the product once to read a password and a week later I’ve only used the app. Seems a waste having such a good little screen on the rad! As a designer with UX experience myself I found the options in the app a little clunkier than it should have been and the logic a little sketchy, (that’s why I’ve not given it full stars) but it only took minutes to completely get my head round and realise how it worked. Since then it’s been easy and give me all the functionality I could wish for. It also looks nice and is pleasant to use with some nice attention to details. The only thing I do think should change is the temperature range for the comfort setting (where eco setting is your low preset and comfort is your high preset that you can have come on at whatever times throughout the day/night). To me allowing a comfort setting of max 30 degrees c is shockingly high! Climate change folks!!! Also the min comfort setting is 19. For me personally I would like to be able to have that at 18c. Alternatively maybe rather than just having a high and low preset, maybe a mid one might also be good? You can obviously set it not to come on at all, but on a cold winter’s night that’s a bit extreme. I also think an ‘away from home’ mode like lots of thermostats have, would be good. So if you knew the house was going to be empty you could just flick it over to a predefined low setting. Anyway, thumbs up and thanks for a great smart product. ### 4/5 — Overall Good, Has Bugs. *2019-12-23, version 2.1.1* The app works for me overall, does what it needs to do, apart from one thing; the statistics. One of the key selling points of the app is the management of how much you are spending annually, monthly, and daily. This function does not show anything for me, so the app is not able, at its current time, to provide information on the expenses and costs. Other than that it works fine, I just think most people don’t know how to use it. ### 3/5 — Worked for a while *2025-03-15, version 2.5.8* I have two Belize heaters and successfully paired them after a bit of faffing around. This worked for a few months. I was able to switch them on and off via the app until today. I opened the app and was confronted by login details to use the app. I can’t remember signing up to Rointe and I can’t see why I would need to. My iPhone app is purely for switching my heaters off and on remotely which when it works is very handy. Suitably disappointed that Rointe have did something to the app. ### 3/5 — Lacks Boost function *2025-02-05, version 2.5.8* Recently installed competitor product (Ecostrad) for a friend. Rointe a better physical product IMO, but similar to the Rointe towel rails, Ecostrad has boost function as standard. What is stopping Rointe from implementing across all their WiFi connected products, not just towel rails?
