## What is RokuGPX?

RokuGPX is a GPS hiking map app for walking the mountains of Japan.

■ A map made easier to read for hiking
Built from Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI) and OpenStreetMap data, adjusted so that trails, boardwalks, bridges, mountain huts, and water sources are easier to tell apart. English labels are available. You can switch between GSI standard maps, aerial photography, satellite imagery, and more. Tap a mountain hut, water source, or campsite on the map to see information about it.

■ Offline maps
Choose the area you plan to walk and download it in advance. Downloaded areas can be displayed where there is no signal. There is a limit to how much you can store, and an estimate of the space required is shown before the download starts.

■ GPS recording
Record the route you walked and check distance, elevation, and pace. Waypoints can carry photos and notes.

■ Route planning
Draw a route on the map and distance, elevation gain, and course time are calculated automatically. Estimated times can be adjusted to your own walking speed. Routes and waypoints can be grouped into a "Trip".

■ Trip reports
Gather the routes, GPS recordings, and photos from a walk into a trip report. Keep it to yourself, share it only with people who have the link, or publish it as a public page. You can switch it back to private at any time.

■ Cloud sync
Sync your data between iPhone and the web app (app.rokugpx.com).

・Added Trip Reports. Gather the routes, GPS recordings, and photos from a trip into a single report. Choose to keep it private, share it only with people who have the link, or publish it as a public page — and switch it back to private at any time
・Tap a facility on the map to open its info card. Check mountain huts, water sources, campsites, parking, and more, then save any of them as a waypoint on the spot
・Reworked street-level imagery. Paths that have imagery are drawn on the map as lines; tap on or near a line to open the closest image. The images come from Mapillary, and the contributor, capture year, and licence are shown
・A short tour now walks you through the main controls the first time you launch the app. Search now looks for mountain names first
・Changed how waypoints are placed. Drag the pin on the map to set the position, and edit the name, icon, colour, tags, and notes together on one screen
・Offline map areas are now chosen by dragging a frame on the map
・A banner now stays on screen during route guidance so you can end it from anywhere
・Reviewed how elevation is handled. Elevation from imported routes is now assigned to the correct segments, and elevation that could not be retrieved — out of range, for example — is no longer treated as 0 m
